We were on vacation in Florida when I lost control of the right side of my body. I cannot see properly and I cannot move my right arm or leg. We are currently getting the extent of the damage sorted out and will report as further details become clarified.

  6. Thoughts with you and your family mate.

    My mother had a stroke when I was 9. Very severe on her left side. She couldn’t talk, or even recognize us for a week. She worked on it and eventually gained almost everything back. 20 years on she is still rocking out (albeit a 64 year old version of that). She rides a motor cycle, does cross stitch and makes a mean self saucing chocolate pudding.

    Don’t get down, don’t focus on where you are at but where you will be. And you will realize that this is just another one of those pain in the áršë hurdles that life throws in your way.

  40. Mine was 2 years ago, and tied to a car wreck that was caused by someone else. I, slowly, got most of the control of my right side back; I hope you do too, or better! My thoughts are with you!

  41. Truly sorry to hear. My Dad had the same thing happen to him in 1986. About the first time I met.you in Babylon, NY asking for your signature on the doc samson vs. crazy eight from one of the few if only issues of the hulk you didn’t write. Only advice I can give you is to get off your ášš and do some intense physical therapy immediately after the stroke. You only got.one chance at ‘immediately after’. Great luck and speedy recovery!

    This isn’t a slight on your comic book work but my childhood would not have been same without your movie novelizations. As a kid in a small town without a comic book store and a love of Batman, I can still remember reading your books so I could embellish my love of the movies. Later in life, I fell in love with your adaptation of The Dark Tower. As a film and comic book geek, I wish you the speediest of recoveries.

I was lucky enough to meet you in Winnipeg many years ago when you were working in sales for Marvel and shortly after you had done the Death of Jean DeWolfe with Rich Buckler and I have followed your work in comics and books ever since. Thanks for bringing a touch of the extraordinary to everyday life.

    My mom has been in the hospital since 12/21 when she fell in the house, being tested for various things but nothing broken. However she has gotten pneumonia and hopefully will be in rehab soon. So like you I will be someplace I would prefer not to be at New Years keeping Mom company.
    Feel better and here is hoping that things go smoothly in your recovery! We are all thinking of you and sending our best!
