We were on vacation in Florida when I lost control of the right side of my body. I cannot see properly and I cannot move my right arm or leg. We are currently getting the extent of the damage sorted out and will report as further details become clarified.

Peter, I hope you get well soon! I LOVE your work. You will soon be back!
Get well soon. I think everyone has had someone in their lives that has suffered a stroke and knows the pain that goes along with it. So beat this and keep your head up.
Peter – I am so sorry to hear this. I have followed your work for decades. We even corresponded for a bit some years ago – the kind of thing I (the fan) would remember and you wouldn’t, I suspect – and you were kind and funny. I wish you a speedy and successful recovery.
I’m so sorry to hear you’ve had this happen! My best hopes for a speedy and complete recovery.
Thoughts with you, PAD. Get well, and know we are all here if you need anything at all.

Wow, your work has meant a lot to me over the years, and I hope that you make a full recovery from this unpleasant situation. You’re in my thoughts.
Wishing you a full and speedy recovery!
If ever there was a situation for best wishes for 2013, this must be it. Hope you get better very soon – if you’re only half the humorous, wonderfully stubborn and strong person you always seem to be, you & your family will get through this.
A lot of kisses end hugs from Spain. You are the best.
Peter…our thoughts and prayers are with you, of course. Please try to keep us all advised of your progress.
Pat
All the best from a long-time reader of your work.
Tons of healing and recovery vibes and hugs from a long time fan in NYC.
Get better soon, Peter.
You’re in my thoughts and prayers, Peter
Get well soon! You’ve been one of my favorites comics writers for years, at least in part because I suspect we have a nearly identical sense of humor.
I’m very sorry to hear you’re going through this. Get well soon. Wishing you a speedy and full recovery.
I’ve never, ever, posted a single letter on the net, but in this time, I only wanna give you my best wishes for your soon recovery.
Get well soon. You bring a lot of good storytelling, happiness and of course, laughter to people all over the world. So the vibes are out for you! *vibes*
With my very best wishes for you, Peter..
I’d like to echo everyone’s sentiments and wish you a full (and as quick as possible) recovery.
And given your wonderful sense of humor, I can only imagine your initial conversation with Kathleen…
Peter: I’d better get off this ride as soon we can. I need to be gotten to a hospital.
Kathleen: A hospital? What is it?
Peter: It’s a big building with patients, but that’s not important right now.
Take care and please get better!
Chris
Sorry to hear about this turn of events. Best wishes to you and your family, and here’s hoping for a full recovery. I’ve quietly been a fan of your work in many media pretty much since the beginning of your career, and enjoy it immensely.
Peter, I love your writing and the soul you bring to things. I’m sorry you’re going through this; I hope you get well very soon.
My prayers for you and for your family. Take it gently.

Very very ungood.
I cannot say how much i hope it’s at least substantially transitory.
We’re all waiting for you Peter.
Come back soon!
Hello sir…been a fan about 25 years now…..we’ve also led parallel lives in many ways. There are few things more disturbing than having your body betray you….leaving oneself out of control of what you may have taken for granted yesterday.
I can tell you first hand, however, that there is NOTHING more empowering than sucessfully fighting back and regaining as much of that control as possible. Your intellect and wit are now your greatest weapons….weapons you will bring to bear as you battle this, and I know you will battle this. Just the fact that you are able to communicate this sad news to us is a very good sign.
You have a lot going for you…a loving family, your sense of humor and humanity, and hundreds of thousands of people rooting for you, who want nothing more than for you to beat this. Success is no stranger to you, and succeed you will, as you are able, and in your own time.
A lot of fools I know bloviate about how everything happens for a reason. This is a heaping bowl of bat guano. I believe people like us know is that its better use bring reason to overcome everything that happens.
I barely know you…all I know about you is through what you’ve written, and from the occasional handshake at Comicon.
I am up late tonight because someone I love is fighting for her life tonight. I have been firing all the good vibes I can in her direction a few states away, but I still have plenty left to spare some for you, too, for what that’s worth. I know I am not alone in that.
Thank you for all the pleasure you’ve given us in the past. I, for one, am looking forward to how much more you will become as you fight this, and after you think of this is bump in the road as no more than a flame you’ve used to further temper your soul.
Our best to you, your family and your loved ones as you face the challenges in front of you in 2013 and beyond.

Please forgive the lousy proofing of my missive…I am zonked out on Coke Zero and Doctor Who reruns.
Best,
Chuck
Please get better, Peter. You’re an inspiration to us…
Wait, Peter doesn’t like maudlin. 🙂
I’ve been thinking about you a lot, Peter, and as I read these comments I’m happy that you will be recovering with the thoughts of so many people who love you.
Your writing has been the best for …. wow, the years go by pretty fast, huh?
