I have had a Stroke

We were on vacation in Florida when I lost control of the right side of my body. I cannot see properly and I cannot move my right arm or leg. We are currently getting the extent of the damage sorted out and will report as further details become clarified.

  1. Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Peter. We need you on the back page of CBG for many years to come.

  3. Oh, man! Glad you are still with us and I know you will fight to make it back. Your family, friends and fans are all with you!

  4. Very sorry to hear the news, Peter. Here’s to a speedy recovery. Fortunately, you’ve got a more active brain than most people, so I’m sure this won’t keep you down for long. Just treat it like a plot snag and write your way around it … figuratively speaking.

  5. I wish you a quick recovery and all the health in the world. My prayers and well wishes go out to you and your family.

  6. I sincerely wish you the very best — but wishes and and $3.50 will buy you a cup of coffee.

WHAT CAN WE DO TO HELP???

    1. I suggest that when you purchase anything in the near future from Amazon, you do through the link on this page. Peter gets a minor commission on all orders.

  7. Best wishes to you and your family Peter. Been a fan for many years and was compelled to drop a message upon hearing the news. Get well soon.

  8. David, that is horrible news; my prayers go out for your speedy recovery. If you need anything reach out to your fans, we are numerous and eager to help in anyway we can.

  13. Considering the countless hours of enjoyment Peter has given me, I wish I could do more than just say “get well soon”

  14. I can only add my hopes and prayers for your recovery Sir. Anything else has already been said better than I can.

  15. Words cannot express the well wishes I’m sending you and your family’s way, PAD.

Almost 30 years ago, my grandfather had a severe stroke, so I know some of the uncertainty and fear you are probably all feeling right now. You have my sincerest wishes for a speedy and full recovery.

  16. In response to the 12/31 post:

PAD is very lucky to have the family he does, Kathleen.

Here’s hoping for the best possible recovery.

  17. Peter, you have been an inspiration to me and you have been my favorite writer since your incredible, incredible hulk run. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family and wishing for a fast recovery.

  18. I’ve enjoyed your work for a very long time and I hope to continue to enjoy it. You are one of the finest writers the industry has ever seen and I wish you a speedy recovery. Best of luck.

  19. Sorry to hear about this awful news. Peter is one of my favorite writers and one of the few truly original wordsmiths working in the business today.

Hoping for a full and complete recovery and the best to your family.

Get well and come back kickin’ butt.

  20. That’s certainly not a way to end a year. Let’s hope that this new year sees you get better and better. That’s all I’m asking for.

  21. Sorry to hear your news, Peter. Best wishes for a speedy recovery and I hope you and your family can have as peaceful and comfortable a New Year as is possible.

  22. Sending you my best wishes Mr. David on a fast recovery. I’ve been reading your work since I first picked up the first issue of Young Justice, and you’ve been a constant source of inspiration ever since! Feel better!

  23. I just read the news. I was schocked and hope that you will recover well.
Best wishes from Holland to you and your dear ones.

    Dutch Fan.

  24. Don’t tell me you’re going to let a little thing like a stroke slow you down! Enough lollygagging, Peter! Up,up!! Things to write! People to entertain!! There’s a good chap!! (seriously Peter, get well soon.)

  25. Sad to hear this, I hope you and your family Pater can find your way thought and that you get better soon.

  26. Peter,

It goes without saying, best wishes, heart goes out, get well, etc.

They say laughter is the best medicine, so with that in mind: a joke

When organizing the comic book field, one must remember to sort alphabetically. That means that Sandman author Neil Gaiman must be placed before Superman villain and Phantom Zone resident General Zod. Because both “N” and “G” come before “Z” in the alphabet.

    So remember, Neil before Zod.

    Get well soon,
    Matt Dow

  27. Hi Peter – as I just posted on Kathleen’s blog, I am so sorry to hear about your stroke, and am sending you my very best wishes for your health and a good recovery, and your family my very best wishes for strength and comfort in this difficult time.

It’s always a joy to see and catch up with you (and occasionally Kathleen) at cons, and I’ve enjoyed many iterations of your talented writings (and have some I have not yet enjoyed, the most recent being the Astonishing X-Men prose novel, which I received for Christmas and have been looking forward to reading!). It was great to see you and chat (albeit briefly) at the NYCC prose novel panel this fall.

I hope that you will soon be able to get back to enjoying life and doing what you love without difficulty, and am keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers. *hugs*

  29. It is speculated, but PAD must spend many hours sitting writing their scripts and maybe with some extra kilos suffering from blood pressure and maybe he need to take anticoagulants…

I would suggest you take cod liver oil Omega-3 ultra refined and once to month you take one tea of garlic, is the best natural treatment for preventing blood clots in the arteries and if your cardiologist prescribes that you must take Losartan for lifetime, you have to take your blood pressure medication for life and stop feeling you Hulk, Spider-Man or Cyclops…

    Please PAD, take easy.

  30. Sending good thoughts. Praying for a quick recovery. Think as positive as possible. Love to you and the family. Please get well soon.
