I have had a Stroke

We were on vacation in Florida when I lost control of the right side of my body. I cannot see properly and I cannot move my right arm or leg. We are currently getting the extent of the damage sorted out and will report as further details become clarified.

  1. This will take time, could be as much as two years, but full recovery is possible. Just keep working.

  2. Hang in there. Been there myself and it takes a bit to come back from. Do what the Dr. tells you to do and try not to push things too far.

  3. Fast action can lead to impressive results in recovery, it sounds like You got straight on it with something that severe. Here is hoping.

  4. Peter,

You are one of my biggest inspirations. Prayers and strength to you during this time. Get well soon.

    All the best,
    – Trey

  5. Do you happen to be left handed? Thanks for keeping your readers informed. Hope you have a speedy recovery. Or you can learn to type one handed like I do.

  6. Thoughts are with you, PAD.

If there’s anything us Long Island dwellers can do for you or your family when you get back, just let us know.

  7. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. My buddy and I were just discussing your post and how you were our first favorite comic writer. You were the writer that made me realize that someone actually sat down and wrote these stories and you were the first writer I was able to recognize the style and personality of without even reading the credits box. All the best wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery

  8. You’ve been one of my favorite writers ever since I got into Star Trek growing up. It wasn’t until I got to shake your hand at several conventions that you became one of my favorite people. Your words have inspired me to be a better creator and person. Thank you. Keep fighting, and here’s to a speedy and full recovery.

  9. If good wishes and prayers can do anything to help, be assured you have them a-plenty. And if there’s anything else needed, let us know.

  10. Hope you a full and speedy recovery, David! Praying for you, my friend…

  11. I don’t think there’s been a time when I wasn’t reading your books monthly since Spider-man 2099. Hope you make a complete recovery!

  12. Peter, your work has been amongst my favorite comics since I started reading them at the age of seven and didn’t even pay attention to who wrote the books at the time. X-Factor is the only Marvel book I’m still buying. I hope you have a quick and complete recovery.

  13. Sorry to here about your health. Been a fan forever, hope you recover and get back into the swing of life quickly.

  14. You’re still communicating, which is excellent best wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery.

  16. Been a huge fan for years, love your comics and “But Digress”. Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery. Hopfully the docs can figure out why and come up with a treatment to prevent another one.

  17. I understand all too well as I am also recovering from a severe stroke back in September. Mine was paralysis on the left and let’s hope you had little to no memory issues like myself. I know talking to Bret Hart, who made a full recovery, meant a lot to me. And I hope the fact that in only three months I’m up walking can inspire you. I’m a huge fan of yours and only this weekend started catching up on comics I missed due to my stroke. I’d love to help even talking to give you hope for the future and hope someday in the future to meet you in person once we both recover share war stories. All my best
