Doctor Who vs. John McCain

John McCain was so punchy that he got up in front of a crowd in Western Pennsylvania and accidentally said that he agreed with comments allegedly put forward by others that Western Pennsylvania is filled with racists.

And all I could picture was the Doctor standing toward the back of the rally and saying quietly to reporters within earshot, “Don’t you think he looks tired?”

  1. Looks like a lower-division Australian footy team. Check page 6 of this page:

They don’t look too bad there. They were beaten by the Rhinebeck Rage on 4/27/8, but they did beat the Town of Wallkill Storm, and the Carmel Blue Crew…

  2. Ah, they’re a Tasmanian soccer team. Don’t follow soccer – I couldn’t even tell you the names of any NSW teams (and this is the state where I live).

  3. Well, this fellow from Iowa didn’t get the memo after Bachmann’s stupidity:

Christopher Reed is running against Democratic incumbent Tom Harkin for the US Senate. In a debate that aired on IPTV last night, Reed called Harkin a “Tokyo Rose” and of “providing aid and comfort to the enemy.”

As the moderator reported on his blog on the Des Moines Register website:
“After the cameras were turned off, Harkin calmly told Reed: “you’re a nice young man and I thought you had a political future ahead of you but that just ended your political career right there” and walked away. Reed said nothing.”

    Is our politicians learning?

  5. Speaking of the Cuban Missile Crisis, the DVD of the film Thirteen Days contains a 48 minute documentary called Roots of the Cuban Missile Crisis, with comments from various people, including Khrushchev’s son, Sergei, Marvin Kalb, Pierre Salinger, Sam Donaldson, and Helen Thomas.

Worth a look, in my opinion. It discusses how the crisis came about and how Kennedy essentially gave Khrushchev a face saving way to back down before things spun out of control.
