Favorite X-Factor characters?

Just out of the sake of my own curiosity, I’d be interested to know who your top two favorite X-Factor characters are? I’m saying “two” going on the assumption that if I said “Who’s your favorite” most people would say Madrox.

So who’re your top two?

Feel free to pass this query to other boards. I’d like to know peoples’ opinions.

  1. Layla.

    …and Monet.

And then, Julio, Theresa, Pietro, and Jamie.

    And finally, Guido and Rahne.

(Aaand yep, calling them by their first name means I really like them. A lot). 🙂

  2. upon re-reading the question i see that you are simply asking for characters from the series and not actual team members. So I would like to change my vote to Vic Chaulker and Rhapsody!

  3. #1: Madrox

    #2: Layla Miller

After that: Rictor, Siryn, Monet, Quicksilver

Behind them: Guido (though mostly because he seems underused), Rahne (she’s incredibly well-developed, but still annoys me)

  4. Grrr….this is very difficult, like picking your favorite appendage or something….

    Hmm…

    I’ll say Madrox and M.

  5. Not counting Madrox… Guido and Rahne.

And if you are planning on killing someone–

Madrox has died several times. It doesn’t seem to take. Rahne has an in with both a former valkyrie and a wolf prince who currently resides in Valhalla. So she’d easily be back.

But if you’re planning on killing someone– while not my favorite character– the one to off would be Layla just because she’s the only one (aside from Madrox) who really interacts with each member of the case in slightly different ways.

  6. All of them, honestly. PAD has done a great job of making me care about characters like Rahne and Monet that I previously didn’t care a bit about. That said, my top 2 are definitely Layla (who kicks all sorts of butt) and Jamie. Siryn is a close third. I’d love to see PAD write a reunion between her and Deadpool.

  7. All of these characters are in like my top 15 or 20 characters right now, so…

    Currently:
    1. Rictor/Rahne- These two are my favorite two characters in comics now and the two I most look forward to reading together every month.

    3. Madrox- You’ve done a fantastic job with him since you’re first run, and he’s a favorite as well.

    4. Monet- I like her more in this book than I ever have before, all the way back through Gen X.
    5. Siryn- She was always my second favorite X-Forcer behind Warpath when she was in the book, and I like her equally in this book. You’re doing wonders with both of the girls.

    6. Layla- You’ve made me really get to like her. That said, because she’s a Bendis creation (technically) and Quicksilver’s here to remind me of AvDis, if I had to pick one to lose, she’d be it.

    7. Guido- He’s just seemed like the odd man out, but I see that’s actually kind of the roll he’s playing and it works well.

    8. Quicksilver- He’s very entertaining in this book, but he overstepped the line with his dismissive order to dispose of Rahne. I just want him back to sanity now, pretty much, before something happens and I can’t like him anymore. Also, he’s an AvDis casualty, so marks against…

    Old Series:
    The order was (1)Quicksilver, (2)Guido, (3)Madrox, (4)Rahne, (5)Havok, (6)Random, then Polaris.

  8. How can I pick favorites?
    1. Madrox, of course. Awesome powers, great concept, so much potential to be explored. And he’s off-beat and quirky.

    2. Rahne, because I’ve always had a thing for her. I grew up with the original New Mutants, so the shy Scottish redhead was always a favorite of mine, even back then.

    3. If I had to pick a 3rd, Guido. Mainly because you took this random mutant way back when, and thoroughly gave him personality, complexity, and an unusual twist on a rather generic power set (that even explained his messed up physique). He rocks.

Of course, Rictor, Monet, Layla, and Siryn all have their moments to shine as well.

I’m really hoping that you’re just asking about this current series. Because opening it up to include the original X-Factor series, with its numerous iterations… no, wait, Madrox and Rahne still win. And Guido.

  9. Obviously, Madrox is first. Behind him I would would have to say it’s Layla. I just love the concept of a girl who builds elaborate Rube Goldberg type scenarios to get things to fall into place. Money would ne a close third, just because it’s nice to have a character who is an actual bìŧçh, knows it, and embraces it.

  10. Madrox and Siryn, but honestly, I love each of them. X-Factor is one of my favourite X-books, and I only read X-books (partially because I’m on a budget *sigh*).

  11. Definitely Madrox, then Rahne (for whom I’ve had a great fondness since the New Mutants graphic novel).

As I don’t see anywhere else to mention this, I’ll put it here. I just read X-Factor #24. There is no identifiable signage except for the subway. That is, until Huber picks up a sedan, planning to squash Rictor. In the double-spread pp. 20-21 we pull back to see Monet holding the car at the rear bumper. Monet’s dialogue balloon is above the car’s roof. And next to that balloon, where it cannot be missed, is an exact duplicate of the US Army ads that sometimes run in Marvel comics.

Who is responsible for this? Why?

  12. Madrox & Guido. With Rahne bringing up a close 3rd. The rest of the cast are a distant dot on the horizon compared to the main three.

  13. Madrox and Layla.

They’re totally going to get married.

I really like Layla. She’s a good omniscient character. I like characters like these. I would really like to see her meet She-Hulk just because She-Hulk apparently still knows that she’s a comic book character.

  14. Monet. Never read the original Generation X -stuff, it was way too childish (or so I thought back then) but this bìŧçh really is the biggest reason I read this book.

Rictor. I want to see him end up in bed with Jamie so bad. 😀

  15. #1 Rahne
    #2 Layla

In fact, Rahne is my all-time, favorite character – any comic, any universe.

  16. 1. Rahne. I’ve been following this character pretty much my entire comic reading career, and I judge a writer that does her by how well and true to the character they do with her. You and Claremont are the only people that really seem to “get” the character. Though that guy that did the relaunch of New Mutants did an okay job.
    2. Guido. I have never seen such a throw away character utilized better than your using Guido. Totally awesome

And for more input, here’s the Bendis Boards take on it. http://www.606studios.com/bendisboard/showthread.php?p=3742584#post3742584

  17. Well, my first conclusion is Madrox and Layla, but excluding Madrox… I dunno who I like next. I would say that if there’s someone who would be cut out that I wouldn’t miss it would be Guido, not because I don’t like Guido, but mostly because I don’t feel like he’s been as well developed in the new X-Factor as everyone else has (and I’ve only read the new series). It’s really hard for me to judge who I like best, but all I can say is that lately when I open up the comic I want to know what Layla’s up to and lately I’ve been interested more in Richtor too. I’m actually planning on maybe dressing up as Layla for Halloween (I say this with my hair in pigtails… the first time it’s been up for the last four years).

  18. I have to go with Lyra and Pietro. Quicksilver was always my favorite character back in the last comic named X-Factor, and has remained a personal favorite ever since. He’s taking a different role here than PAD’d last run, but he’s still refreshing snide. As for Lyra, well, it’s impossible to not love her.

  19. Madrox.

    And Madrox’s dupe.

That’s probably not the first time someone used that joke, but I’m not reading 200 comments to find out.

Either Strong Guy or Quicksilver come in second.

  20. Yet another vote for Madrox, who has quickly become my favortie comic book character, not just X-factor member. Sure he’s technically a “superhero,” but he, more than anyone else in the Marvel U, is just a screwed up guy who happens to have powers.

After him, I really like Layla, mostly for her dynamic with the group.

And for a second non-Madrox choice, Rahne, again for the way she plays off of people.

  21. Hmmm. Of course Madrox. And then I’d have to say Layla, cause she knows stuff.

Tough choice though. I like Rahne, but I’m okay with her going to x-force. I could see Monet ending up in a different x-title too. But that’s not to say I don’t like Rahne and Monet in x-factor, I just feel like they would be easy to transition to other books. Guido and Siren are right where they need to be.
