Caroline Helen David, the Cutest Baby in the World (TM) was born during a hellacious snow storm on December 5, 2002.

It is exactly one year later, she’s one year older, and we’re about to embark on a three day snow storm.

  3. Well a very happy birthday to Caroline. Interestingly enough she shares the date with one Amy Louise Acker, born 27 years ago today. No idea what the weather was like for that one though…

  8. Well, as someone who would’ve liked it if Caroline had waited two more days for a much better birthday :-), I can state that there were no similar snow storms surrounding my early birthdays. (OK, so I lived in North Carolina at the time. I was in the mountains though, so it wasn’t totally out of the question).

    (Seriously, happy birthday to Caroline. What’d she get as presents, other than those undoubtedly facinating to her empty after the presents were removed boxes? :-))

  9. Happiest of Birthdays to Caroline!! I never thought that I’d live to see snow on my birthday but back on March 14th 1993 got more than a foot here in Alabama. Again Happy Day to Caroline and stay warm.

    I bet even my mom doesn’t think I’m the cutest baby in the whole world anymore. Beards tend to ruin that image.

    My daughter Jennifer`s was in September. She enjoyed her presents but one of her favourite new toys was the wrapping paper and an empty box 🙂

  38. We read your Birthday Greetings to Caroline who smiled and burbled to each. It was also Walt Disney’s Birthday and Frankie Munize (sp). I think she is in good company. Since she is 1, we gave her the Fisher Price little people train and Noah’s Ark. She likes picture books of animals and this give her maxium number of super deformed critters to play with. Currently she is in her corral taking the animals out of the ark and then putting them into the ark. Endless amusement.

  42. Glad to hear that your little one had a great 1st B-day.

    My daughter will be one on the 23rd and we have the same ark waiting for her. In fact, I have to head out tomorrow to find the extra animal set with the pandas!

    Oh, and some advice about the Noah’s Ark…

    There are two “expansion” sets of animals, so the list can keep growing. And you might want to actually MAKE a list of all the animal pairs, so that if a zebra vanishes behind the couch, you’ll know it, and can get an APB out (to the real animals of the house of course).

    One question though… Does it trouble you guys that all the female animals are smaller than their male counterparts, lighter in color, and all have blush on their cheeks?

    I echo the sentiments about how hard it is to believe it’s been a year already. My twin nephews turn 1 next Sunday.

    BTW, Kath or Peter, have you seen the Baby Einstein series of videos and DVDs yet?

  47. I echo ObeeKris’s question about Baby Einstein.

    VERY good series for kids. They like the music and colors when younger, and the DVDs have a language lab (on screen flash cards) that work on building vocabulary, not to mention visual association for objects and their names.

    My daughter is two and asks to watch “baby mo-cha” (Baby Mozart, the only DVD in the series we currently have) all the time. She will sit glued for almost the whole thing. AND she recognizes some of Mozart’s works when she hears them, even without the video.

    Very good series for the little developing gray matter.

    BTW: Sorry for the rambling. I just like the Baby Einstein series so much, I try to convince others that it is a really good thing.
