Pain trumps Freaked out Friday

Kath here,

We finally have a diagnosis on what is going on with Peter and it is a series of pinched nerves causing him to be in pretty much excruciating pain 24/7. He does have some medicine to dull the pain but he has not been pain free in over two weeks. We are now trying to find out how we get him back to something resembling normal because between the pain and the drugs, he is not at his best and feels it would be better to stay off the Internet for the most part. Participants in the Patreon program don’t worry y’all will continue to get things promised like Cowboy Peter but it may take a day or so.

Not that we haven’t seen both high and lows this week.

Thank goodness for everyone who voted in Alabama and gave Roy Moore his walking papers which, as of this typing, he has not excepted. The weirder thing I heard is that he believes that if the write-in was for a Republican then it is really a vote for him so he deserves that vote. I have no idea if that is real or fake but considering the other things he thinks is true, then it might be.

We no longer have net neutrality which is going to throttle new start ups and MMORPGs and other things on the Internet even though most of the Internet hardware is government owned.

Then there were all the other things that happened but we were focused on something else trying to get Peter to be able to move without screaming.

So feel free to tell us what freaked you out and what we missed by dealing with life outside the news cycle.

  1. From a UK perspective the latest election shows that Modern Alabama is still Pro hate,
Pro pedophile , fundamental Christian ignore logic nutters. By a margin of nearly 50%
It would also appear sessions et all can lie under oath and feel no consequences.!!
If you add this to the fact that it seems I’m not going to get any McKenzie Calhoun for a good while then we may as well cancel Christmas and spend the money on loose cars and fast women ! …

Oh did anybody notice The greeedy mouse just bought most of the evil empire !

    1. And here I thought that Disney already WAS the evil empire!

Adding my wishes for a speedy recovery for Peter.

  2. I had no idea he was suffering. I saw him at the Ace Con in Long Island and he seemed tired, but I would never had thought he was in pain. Very strong of him. All our best….

    Henry

  3. So sorry to hear about Peter….wishing him and his family the best at this very difficult time.

  4. Plenty of speculation Trump will have Mueller fired in the coming days.

The TaxScam continues to forced through without reading its contents. (despite even Republican reservation!)

CDC is given a list of fûçkìņg BANNED WORDS it is not allow to used in its reports (I am ENRAGED by this move)

Net Neutrality appears to be another move to enrich the rich. (which went through, but has to survive Congress)

More school shootings that are not being reported by the news. (since this doesn’t seem to be ‘news’ anymore)

Corruption is run rampant in Congress and the WH.

Our country isn’t our country anymore.

Wasn’t that the slogan of the other side just a year ago? Be careful who you start to echo.

      1. “Other side” bothers me to no end.

I certainly wasn’t looking to coin a slogan. I do not view trump as a Republican; they’re better than what he is (though republicans continue to disappoint).

      2. I’m wary of “us vs them” distinctions as well. But I find it hard to argue that typical Republicans aren’t very much with Trump. Given the opportunity to oppose him Republicans have failed to do so at nearly every turn. On the rare occasions they criticize him with words, they follow by supporting him with actions.
        .
        Every cabinet nominee confirmed.
        His actions toward women defended.
Multiple times his policies are struck down by courts, and continue to get Republican support.
And they’ve been diligently reversing themselves on their previous praise of Robert Muelller to actively help Trump lay the groundwork for firing him this coming Friday.
        .
You can’t separate Republicans from Trump any more than you can separate two unseperable things.

      3. Trump is the GOP’s useful idiot as much as he is Russia’s.
        .
But then, Russia doesn’t have midterms to worry about next year (provided we actually hold them) after losing an election in Alabama of all places.

  5. Get well soon Peter.
From all your friends in Greece, we wish you a speedy and full recovery.

  6. So sorry to hear Peter is still in pain. You have all my sympathy as I know all too well how bad back pain can be. Yes, even the screaming in pain part. Take care of yourself and get well soon. Much love to you and your family. I too am missing Mackenzie Calhoun and the rest of the New Frontier gang, not quite cancelling Christmas as I love Christmas. In Brexit land (I voted remain) it is a relief to have something to look forward to and celebrate. Brexit is really freaking me out.

  7. I’m a supporter on Patreon. I know I can’t speak for everyone else, but I think the sentiment would be shared. Extreme medical issues are understandable reasons for having to give up a thing or two for a bit.

Focus on getting better first and foremost.

I’d always assumed that patronage is given to support the artist as they create their work generally, not to require them to adhere to a particular schedule. The artist has a productive month? Yea! The artist has a non productive month? It happens.

      1. By older definitions, yes. However, the Patreon website sets it up in payment tiers. Artists post as a sort of contract what you get each month for ‘X’ level of donation. That being said, I think most decent human beings should have the ability to understand when there’s a month or two in a year somewhat derailed by emergency circumstances.

  8. I don’t disagree with the point about neutrality but I looked askance at the notion that most internet hardware is government owned. Not as far as I can find. Pieces of it once upon a time but I think all the big nodes, etc are either the ISPs or consortiums of them.

I think that could only be said about the non-hardware broadcast bands but that’s LTE,etc.

  9. Pinched nerves are extremely high on the list of Things That Suck [TM]. Best wishes for a speedy and very effective recovery!
