So it appears LaVar Ball was correct

Ball made much noise claiming he had no idea why it was necessary to thank Trump. Trump’s response was to wage a twitter war on the guy and even claim that the guy’s son and his two associates should have faced the ten to fifteen years they would surely have received at the hands of Chinese “justice.”

Except…not so much. A Hong Kong lawyer has stated that shoplifting is a minor crime and the odds were that not only would they have gotten no jail time, but they likely wouldn’t have been prosecuted.

Of course, if Trump wanted to intervene with other people being screwed over by the Chinese, there’s a list who could have used his attention…but apparently have been ignored.

  1. gee, what a surprise Donald Yump lied/exaggerated about HIS involvement or knowledge of foreign laws. UCLA has a big Chinese alumni presence and influence and that alone would have been enough. Is there anything Crump won’t lie about?

    Well, yeah.
    .
To do something for THEM, he’d have to actually do something.

  3. Let’s see… no jail time and not even prosecuted. Yup, that sounds like something Trump was capable of handling.

Of course, the big stir he created means that the NEXT time an American gets caught in a minor crime in China, they’ll likely want to make a bigger case of it, and dare Trump to handle THAT. Which, of course, he won’t. Not enough glory… and it’s not low-hanging fruit. Actually, it seems that Trump just gathers the overripe, rotten fruit already fallen on the ground.

And then puts them into cabinet positions.
