  1. Is there a larger version of this or one that can be purchased? I could see a potential lesson plan out of this–assign a few random elephants to each kid and have them research why the picture shows what it does. (I’m assuming from a quick perusal that there is a method to the madness–the Energizer Bunny Elephant for Lithium, for example).

Very cool, thanks for sharing. I keep telling them that the periodic table holds all the secrets of the universe.

  2. Just out of curiosity…how come whenever I click on a link on peterdavid.net, I get a new page, opened in a full-window frame that is still titled/url’d http://www.peterdavid.net?

Kind of a weird way to code outgoing links, if you ask me. The only other sites I’ve seen doing this either have a frame across the top stating “You’re viewing content from outside…” or are trying to boost hitcounters for some reason.

  3. Displaying a frame to a site hosted elsewhere is a standard option domain registrars offer. If you’re interested in keeping your archived content at the top of search engine results, frames should be avoided, but if you’re primarily interested in keeping yourself accessible to casual visitors curious about your latest thing, it shouldn’t make a noticeable difference.

But the redirect option, rather than frames, has the advantage of doing away with the additional click-through for web readers that can’t accommodate frames, like for braille readers and for mobile devices.

  4. I don’t like frames.

When i provide an external link on a page, i include a “target=’_blank'” to open it in a whole new window.

The reason you’re still seeing the “peterdavid.net” URL is because you’re still at Peter’s site – the linked content is simply replacing the previous page in the frame.

If you want to actually go to the page, right click the link, and select “Open in new tab” (or whatever your browser offers).
