That was close

Was in Texas on business and was supposed to leave this morning. But with the hurricane coming in, I had to get while the getting was good. So I managed to change my ticket at the last minute and head out to LA a day early.

Now I’m in LA waiting for Kathleen’s plane to get in. After that we’ll be heading to the hotel where we’ll be staying Saturday night, and tomorrow we attend George and Brad’s wedding. Should be interesting. It’s the only wedding I’ve been to where there might be protesters.

  1. It’s the only wedding I’ve been to where there might be protesters.

You weren’t at mine, then. 🙂

Seriously, I hope it all comes off well!

  2. You mean Fred Phelps will actually be there. Gee, be a real shame if someone accidentally lost control of their car while they were pulling up to the church…

Seriously, just have a good time, something that wretched family is probably incapable of doing. And congratulations to George and Brad from all their fans with the Howard Stern show.

  3. Just reading Peter’s entry has destroyed my own heterosexual marriage! I knew this would happen! Some shouty guy on cable told me so!

  4. “Mine had a protester. But they all overruled me and I went through with it anyways.”

Mothers and mother in laws don’t count.

  5. Bristol Palin and Jamie Lynn Spears didn’t destroy my faith in the sanctity of marriage but Larry King and Elizabeth Taylor certainly have.

  6. “Mothers and mother in laws don’t count.”

Who’s talking Mothers and mother in laws? I was the protester. What, do you think I ever believed that I was actually going to get buried… I mean married? Never thought it was going to happen right up through actually having been married for four years now.

  7. Wish George the best of luck from his Irish fans! I’m delighted to hear this special day has finally arrived.

Oh, and @ Jerry Chandler: funny, funny stuff, man! Had me chuckling for quite some time!

  8. I met George Takei for the first time last year at SDCC. He’s definitely a gracious guy, and I give him all the congrats in the world for his wedding.

  9. A couple years back, I had Mr. Takei autograph blueprints of Excelsior since that’s what I called my car. (It was massive, it was ugly, and it didn’t move real well.) Don’t know that he’d remember, but send my best wishes, too!

  10. Jerry, they were just hoping it might make you a little more normal, man. ANOTHER hope dashed on the rocks of fate….

  11. It took me a second to figure out who George and Brad are. All I could think was how nice it was that George Clooney and Brad Pitt were finally tying the knot.

  12. Friend of minw who habitually goes armed was est Man at another friend’s wedding.

Her family did not approve of her choice of husband.

Before the ceremony began, the groom asked his Best Man “Are you heeled?”

He allowed as how he was.

“If her father says anything when they ask ‘If any here knows…’,” he said.

A match made in Hëll, I’m sure. 🙂

  14. Mike,

And here I figured it was “est Man.” An “est man” could be a very scary thing at a wedding for those guests who remember the ’70s…

  15. Best wishes to the happy couple, and I’m glad you got out of Texas safely.

  16. I am really annoyed with Walter Koenig! How dare he not make the proper Vulcan salute in that photo! The man clearly has no respect for decades of Trekker…er, Trekkie tradition. 🙂

    Congrats to George and Brad!!
