People are sending me e-mails saying they liked the novelization of the FF film, so I think it’s safe to assume it’s in the stores. So that’s an FYI. Or an FFYI.

I wish I could take the glowing praise of the novelization as an assurance that the movie is going to be of similar or better quality, PAD, but I was seriously misled when I read your novelization of Batman Forever before I actually saw the movie, so I’ll remain wary until FF hits the silver screen.
Let’s hear it for the nicest play on words this week!
Let’s see…Hulk, Spider-Man, Red Sonja, FF Novelization, Angel, lots more of stuff I don’t know — have you learned to live without sleep or something? Cos if you wrote a book about that you could retire.
Juste to say Hello…
Think it is out. You can even read a little of it here…

I got it this opast weekend, have not had a chance to start it yet though.
Hey Peter,
In an old interview we did before Hulk came out (http://www.the-trades.com/column.php?columnid=1871), you commented on the Spider-Man and Hulk novelizations (since you had to read the scripts to do the novelization) that:
“When I read the screenplay for Spider-Man, I thought, ‘This can make a great Spider-Man movie.’ With all deference to Sam Raimi–who, I thought, did a terrific job–I think a number of people might have been able to pull it off with equal facility.
When I read the screenplay for Hulk, my attitude was, ‘This could make a great Ang Lee movie.’ It’s really tailored towards Ang Lee’s sensibilities; the occasionally, almost ephemeral attitudes; the almost dream-like quality of a number of aspects of it that were evident in such films as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I don’t know that anyone but Ang Lee could really pull this off.”
So, in that light: What’s your opinion of the FANTASTIC FOUR screenplay?
Howard
So where’s the ebook? I picked up the Spider-man novelizations and the Hulk book through eReader.com when they came out, but so far no FF. I’m waiting…
Amazon lists the pub date as 5/24, so I’m assuming eReader will have it next Tuesday. Looking forward to it, although after reading Amazon’s excerpt I’m already planning to be disappointed in the movie; Peter has a tendency to add dialogue to a novelization that you can’t help but wish was also in the screenplay.
$4.88 at Wal-Mart. Woot. About a quarter of the way through so far.
Picked up a copy of your _Fantastic Four_ tie-in and plan to dive into it as soon as I finish _The Space Merchants_ Yes, that’s right: _The Space Merchants. I never read it; sue me.
Mark
Purchased a copy this weekend. Now I have a copy of your Spiderman, Hulk, and FF novelizations. I haven’t read any of them yet, but I’m sure I’ll get around to it someday.
I’ve heard that the book’s out, but haven’t seen it yet. Maybe I should start calling multiple stores, to find out which ones have it.
Any chance of any more Fantastic Four novels set in the universe of the feature film?
It was done with Underworld. It was about a female vampire fighter. If more Fantastic Four original novels were available as a media tie in it might get potencial veiwers of the sequel interested.
More on the Fantastic Four….
June 1st marks the release of a DVD with all 550 issues of the FF on DVD. Anyone wanting to order..it can be found at the Tales of Wonder site. I was surprised there were no offers from Marvel in the paperback. Is this an authorized version of the comics from Marvel?
Another Question for PAD:
How come the CD Roms and DVD’s of comic collections aren’t more popular with fans? I love the collections however I have given up paying 50 for each volume of the Marvel Masterworks. I loved each and every one of them but I just can’t afford them anymore.
I wish there were paperback versions of them because I would be willing to shell out as much a 30 dollars for a volume of comics. With a Borders or Waldens cupon you can bring the price down.
Getting the Masterworks thu Borders or Waldens is more iffy. I was just told to get them at the comic shop. Which offers no discount.
How come the CD Roms and DVD’s of comic collections aren’t more popular with fans?
Well, fans would have to know about them, for one. I’m not sure that that’s the type of thing your typical comic shop is going to carry.
Also, from what I’ve heard, the condition of the files (ie, the copies of the comics they chose to scan into pdfs) on the disc are less than desireable.
THouroughly enjoyed the book PAD, I am afraid you may have ruined the movie for me though. I know most of what you added was better than what we will see.
Nice novelization, Peter, though I wouldn’t expect anything less from you. Not too sure about the movie though–the plot seems to drag in the middle.
I feel I should point out that there is no such thing as “centrifugal force.” Just a pet peave of mine.
You gave me hope for the movie.
…ALICIA’S BLACK? What, they gave her the same illness that Prof. Hamilton and Pete Ross got on Smallville?
The fact that they cast her as a black actress was surprising since Ben Grimm (I believe) is white. I’m waiting for some right-wing conservatives to have a fit.
Brian,
Why would they? That comment seems downright bizarre…
Right-wing conservatives are downright bizarre.
