What do you regular readers want on this site? Pretty logos for Cowboy Pete’s TV Roundup? A forced migration to Movable Type so you can get trackbacks? More guest posts by me, to cover the lag times between Peter’s posts, or less comments from me all together? Any other particular suggestions for site improvements? What? Whaaat?
(Why no, this has nothing to do with learning Mark Evanier got over $1000 in tips over three days. Why do you ask?)

I’m fine with the lag between posts. PAD makes a point of posting a least once a day, which is quite generous. Also, one post a day is fine when thread discussions are as healthy as they are.
In the archive list, it would be nice to have a brief topic description in parentheses next to PAD’s entry headings. There have been times when I’ve gone through the archive list looking for the name of a book PAD recommended, or a release date or something, and I’ve had to open every blog in the month. I wouldn’t recommend you put a description next to the daily entries, just in the archives.
That said, kudos to you for a job well done.
Janice
What do I want? I want Peter to write a 50-100 sci-fi short story that has an emu as a positive rolemodel.
50-100 word short story rather
Maybe more old BID entries? It’s been a while since the last one.
I want you to change the name to “The Long Island Kid’s TV Round-Up”.
I also want t-shirts, drawn by Neal Adams, of Captain Marvel beating up a cosmic villian with a posterior made of sapphire, with the caption reading : “Beware the evil of Gemass!”.
Also, can we change the chips in the bowls from doritos to pretzels?
Okay, I’ll shut up now…
(Oh, I also want you to write an episode of Scrubs…)
I want more pictures of Peter teaching the penguins to fly.
And at least one of Ariel dressed up as a llama.
I want a pony.
That is all.
Yay Movable Type. Movable Type good.
Movable type for trackbacks? Please explain for us not so computer literates.
Thank you.
More BID postings, Please!
Brian
I’d like samples of PAD’s comic scripts. And maybe short stories or other stuff that never got published for whatever reason.
Corey
Ever since the Q&A, where PAD revealed he also regularly watches “The Practice,” I’d like to see him add that to the roundup. I think the addition of James Spader this season, and the streamlining of the cast, has really done wonders for the show, and I’d be interested to hear PAD’s thoughts on the show, as well as anyone else that might watch it. I know I can’t be the only one, can I?
That’s a ball entirely in PAD’s court, but I’d be curious.
Aside from that, I have no complaints.
I want him to bring the Dale Keown style Marla to life and send her to my house. Barring that, I want a new New Frontier novel every 2-3 months for the next 5 years. Get Started!
Definitely a move to Movable Type. A more complete RSS feed, so that clickthroughs from Livejournal aren’t necessary. (I enjoy the comments, but it seems wasteful to hit you up twice for one entry.)
(The RSS feed’s header for this entry was, “Wednesday: I want feedback!” and I was very confused as to why you wanted me specifically. Erk.)
Moveable Type is a popular bit of blogging software, and a really good one at that.
Trackback is a feature that lets you get links to sites that have linked to you. I haven’t looked into the details, but I imagine it captures the referer when getting a hit to the trackback URL.
(Web-techie tidbit: when you click on a link, the browser typically sends the URL of the page you were just on along, as the referer. This is awfully interesting as a webmaster, since you can pick out what percentage of your traffic comes from google or yahoo or whitepages.com or whatever. If you type in the URL yourself or use a bookmark, the referer is blank. Not all web browsers support this, and it’s not super reliable, but it’s interesting data nonetheless, and could power a trackback feature without much trouble.)
Moveable type with a trackback link in action:

Notice the part at the bottom called ‘follow-ups’.
Im lazy and didnt want to read all the responses so not sure if this was mentioned already but,Peter David pics would be a nice feature to add, maybe a small photo gallery???
I want another BUT I DIGRESS collection is TPB format. I want to play PAD in a 300-point game of HeroClix, to see what sort of team he comes up with. I want a pony. (I’m a very lonely man.) And, having seen BUBBA HO-TEP, I really want to see the HELLBOY movie; I’d settle for the trailer.
Depends on what Peter means by feedabck of course. 🙂
Glenn,
Think you could convince PAD to pen a serial short story released exclusively to this site? That’d be cool. Ah, the fun of wishful thinking.
Chris
I’ll third the nomination for more dips into the “But I Digress” archive.
I would like some email subscription that will warn me in advance when PAD has product coming out. I don’t routinely keep track of release dates, so I find myself missing stuff. If someone would send me an email that says “TMNT 6” is out on Wednesday the week that it is, I would appreciate it greatly.
Okay, seriously. If Mr. D wants filler, the most entertaining thing he could do is clip out some scenes from his past comic books and post them. His posts of “BID” columns would also be good. And even better…if you have the space and the server access time available…get some audio of his convention speeches converted to streaming MP3’s. (Get him to wear a lavalier mike and record it on a Sony minidisk in his photographer’s vest – or off the PA system if he is using one for the room.)
And blast it, even if we have to pay 99 cents to an Apple iPod account, give us an MP3 of him singing “Jubilation T. Cornpone” or “You Got Trouble” or his other show tunes!
This place is cool enough. How about a wrestling forum? I kid. More pics. Maybe only in B&W, and by the dude who drew PAD up there, there. I’m serious. Good night.
I think it would be great to have a section of this site listing what projects Peter has coming up and their release dates. That way everybody who visits will know what has been released and what is on the way. I know that I’ve bugged my local Waldenbooks more than a few times because I knew a New Frontier or Apropos novel was coming out, but not when.
And perhaps an area to simply give thanks to Peter for his time and to Glenn for keeping things running so smoothly. Cash gifts would probably be welcome as well.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled broadcast…
I’d like to see seperate posts for each show in the TV round up. Last year it was just Buffy and Angel in the same post and now it’s like 4 shows. I’d prefer to join in a conversation in a thread that was about that a show in particular and feel like my post wasn’t being ignored while people went on about some other show. Also Smallville is a week behind up here in TO so trying to skim through the thread to find posts about Angel while trying to not read posts about Smallville really sucks. Just my thoughts.
Peter posts enough every day. You don’t need to make filler.
I’d move to Moveable Type, just because Moveable Type is sexy.
But PAD posts every day, and that is awesome already. Not much else to do.
I echo the BID requests. And I like your guest posts; the thing is, you seem to post a bunch in a row, or not at all. Consistency would be nice….
Oh, and since you mentioned it, Cowboy Pete needs a logo now….
(And you’ll get a donation soon-ish. I just need to find a new job first. :))
I don’t know the reasons, but whenever cover art is posted, it covers up current posts so that I can’t read them until several days later, when they finally scroll past the artwork.
otherwise, no complaints.
Chris Schumacher (Oh, I also want you to write an episode of Scrubs…)
Ditto that, and ditto all the calls for more BID columns. And I, um, I want a little brother…
There’s nothing really wrong with the site as it is; PAD’s nice enough to continue sharing his thoughts and time, and that’s more than enough for me.
The OTHER John Byrne
Feedback? OK, you asked for it:
Ssskkkkkkkrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeooooooooowwwwwwwooooooohhhhhhoooooeeeeeee
Seriously, more BID’s.
A ‘quote’ function would be nice.
Thanks.
Less comments from Glenn — more BIDs to fill the space.
I really, really hope this site doesn’t ever ask for money.
Other than that, I could do with a different background color; grey is depressing, particularly on rainy days.
I want a girlfriend. But that might be a little out of this site’s repetior (and it kinda expensive maintenence-wise anyway), so i’m not holding my breath.
Seriously, maybe some site exclusive short stories (maybe one’s that we have to finish?)
@Jay Lunch: If you were in a 300point HeroClix game, what team would YOU pick (and how does that system work, anyway?)
1) A new BID collection.
2) More old BID columns posted.
3) Message Boards. I prefer message boards to this format. Maybe that’s just me. Tony Isabella has a good site for reference.
Another vote in favour of Movable Type. It’s a nice, nice system and it’s category-based archiving would be good for the site.
Alan wrote: “@Jay Lunch: If you were in a 300point HeroClix game, what team would YOU pick (and how does that system work, anyway?)”
Jim *Lynch* responds: In HeroClix, each figure has a point value, which reflects their stats and Special Abilities (the Rookie Thug is worth 6 points; Thanos is worth 185); different Teams also offer different abilities. The player(s) agree on a team size, then put together teams up to the maximum points, and the team(s) either fight to the finish, or try to achieve a certain goal first. For more detailed info, check out http://www.wizkidsgames.com/wk_home.asp There are different sections for Marvel HeroClix, DC HeroClix, and Indy HeroClix. (Their other games are pretty good too.)
I have *tons* of 300-point teams. Some of the best are: The Avengers with Vision, Thor, and the Scarlet Witch; the Brotherhood of Mutants, with Juggernaut; The Leader and Abomination together; the “smaller” JLA team; and the Legion of Doom — Brainiac 13, Gorilla Grodd, Solomon Grundy, and (gawd help me) Black Manta.
Hey Glen,
If you need some help getting some old BID’s typed in, I would be happy to help. The only thing is though I don’t have them, so you would have to send them to me (and I would then send them back). Just an offer. If you want to take me up on it e-mail me.
Patrick
We have been putting up pictures. Just not on this site. Peter has made references to were you can pictures of the family.
Kath
There’s not alot else needed is there? Pop in, read the entries, read any comments if it interests you then move on with your life, seems to be working fine for me, no one else seemed to be complaining either.
I want Peace on Earth and Good will toward men.
Here are the things I’d like to see on this site:
1. More BID-columns and a seperate BID-Archive, so you don’t have to look all day for them.
2. Sir Apropos short stories for your fans. C’mon, this was the best fantasy-trilogy ever, and I just don’t want to let go of that heroic bášŧárd.
3. Downloads of mp3s. You reading your own work. That would be cool!
4. News on Glory B. The only things I heard about the content is what Leonard Kirk revealed in an online interview. It sounds cool. Is it still a movie option?
5. Don’t know yet. Just give me time…
Pascal
Oh, I forgot:
I also want clips or mp3 of convention speeches, because, living in Germany, I usually don’t get the chance to hear him live on stage.
Pascal
I want a cheese danish that is all oh and maybe some water wings.
Less politics.
MUCH less politics.
More politics!
I want you to write some Babylon 5 short stories for the site. You did such a great job on the Londo novels.
