The Cubs should hire him.
Seriously. Find a job in the organization for him. He’s not stupid. Guys’ a finance major. Must be something on the business side he can do. Plus he coaches youngsters. Let’s keep in mind that he, an amateur, displayed the most often quoted baseball axiom that even many pros forget: Keep your eye on the ball. He did that. So if the Cubs have a youth club (as many ball organizations do) put him in charge of that.
And just imagine the commercials for next year: “I’m Steve Bartman. As Chicago Cubs associate business manager, I have permanent seats at Wrigley…nine rows back of home plate. I’m nowhere near the front row. NOTHING can stop us now.”
PAD

Wow. I’ve read every single post on this board. I haven’t read ANYTHING new. I knew Bartman was a 26 year old who lived near to Wrigley, I knew he went to Notre Dame and had a business major, I knew he coached a little league team named “The Renegades,” and I knew he was a bumbling moron. There is little I don’t know about Steve Bartman, atleast in regards to his incident and everything surrounding it. Want his phone number? The one he had BEFORE it was disconnected? 1-773-625-8047. Don’t accuse me of being yet another one to hype this whole thing more than it needs to be, because the number is disconnected and will be for some time. http://www.stevebartman.com is a disaster. It has nothing to do with him and to me atleast, it appears to be a publicing site for the Cubs themselves, perhaps a marketing ploy. Although it could be some kid who had ten bucks to piss away and bought a quirky named website to be a smartass. Steve Bartman, the “man,” is an enigma. There is so much surrounding his life that we do not understand. If you’re wondering, which you’re almost certainly not because most if not all of you are only willing to listen and consider your own personal side of the story, I myself do not blame Bartman for the collapse. Like a few others who have posted here, I blame him for opening the floodgates. To those of you who say Alou might not and/or almost certainly WOULD NOT have made the catch, I stand by my evidence. If you wish to see this evidence get a copy of NLCS Game 6 and fast forward to the 8th inning, one out. A ball is hit to the Wrigley left field wall, and Moises Alou elevates his club over the banister at the top of the wall, and CLEARLY has precision timing in regards to the less than a second slot of time during which the ball meets Bartman’s hand rather than Alou’s mitt. Moises Alou is not the kind of player who would bobble or miss a ball hit such as that one. He’s experienced to say the LEAST, and he’s been a candidate for the NL Gold Glove at the very least 3 times. Oddly enough, including his stint with the Florida Marlins when they won the Series back in ’97. Another point, people, such as I, seem to be realizing that this site is not one that’s looking for your own insight in to the incident. Frankly, no one could possibly care less about YOUR opinion, as well as mine. Yet we, I, feel the need to voice it. Read the topic. Has anyone here posted anything with actual insight on how we go about saving the life of Steve Bartman? I’m certainly not going to. I’m a lifelong Cubs fan and I’m pìššëd as all hëll. But that’s besides the point. These ridiculous theories of him working for Southwest Airlines, The Florida Marlins organiztion, or even THE CUBS? Have we all lost it? This man is a business major. I’m sure he’s returned to his six figure income, lap of luxury lifestyle by now. For God’s sake he purchased front row seats to the hottest ticket in all of Central America at the time. Steve Bartman, is now a 27 year old ATTORNEY (Yes, he’s finished his law degree as well), who lives in Lincolnshire, which is technically IN the city of Chicago, but really, it’s a border. He’s a rich snob whether any of you want to admit it or not. He was paying no attention to the game around him, and I have my doubts about the authenticity of his dedication to the Cubs. All he had was a lousy hat. Everyone wears the home team hat to whatever ball game their going to you. Besides those of you in Boston and New York, that’s a different situation altogether. The point is, his life will never be the same. He’s going to be tortured until he dies. He might die at the hands of an enraged Cubs fan, who knows. I don’t feel the need to persecute this guy, I wouldn’t even throw an egg at his car. His life is going to be hëll for so long, it’s just, well, let’s just put it this way…..I’m satisfied.
One more tidbit, when the ball itself, as some of you may know, was purchased by Harry Caray’s Restaurant in Chicago for upwards of 113,000, I both visited the ball on display, and attended the great destruction that aired on MSNBC and I believe ESPN2. I doubt that was the ball. Look for Prior to get healthy, and the Cubs to take it all this year. Afterwards, expect a grand unveiling of the ACTUAL Bartman ball, proving all the curse theories wrong. Most if not all of you probably think I’m saying this with the least bit of confidence and maybe even a hint of sarcasm, but come October, you’ll all see. Oh won’t that be grand?
These posts show why CUBS fans and the CUBS are LOSERS and will never win anything. remember 1908 , cause its the last.
GOD BLESS BARTMAN and the GOAT

Jesus, man, you really gotta rub it in? They finished like, what, about 5 teams away from the bottom of the MLB heap overall in 2006? Dragging up a post from 2 years ago is just kinda petty. Leave the poor Cubs alone.
The fact that the Cubs last won in 1908, and an entire generation has passed since then and gone to their gaves without seeing a Cubs win, however, is a rather sobering fact that. As a Toronto Maple Leaf fan, I can totally relate to that.
Ah, heck, this is a dead post that nobody’ll ever see: GO LEAFS GO!!!!
