MR TV BIG-SHOT

The “Hulk” promo half hour debuted tonight on MTV at 10:30 PM EST (which I guess means that if anyone on the West coast is reading this, you can turn on the set in seven minutes and watch it.) Aside from interviews with Stan Lee, Joe Quesada, Avi Arad, Axel Alonso, Eric Bana, Jennifer Connelly, and even (gasp) me, it also features a few more extended sequences of the Hulk in action, some of which I thought looked quite nifty. And hey, the show is worth it, for nothing else, for the naked Hulk aerobics sequence. Seriously.

Anyone who missed it can catch repeats at:

June 12 4:30pm

June 13 8:30 pm

June 14 1:30pm

June 15 4:30pm

  1. This is the disadvantage to satellite television on the West Coast. Many channels are set for East Coast time. Including MTV. So, I would have had to have been home and aware of it at 7:30pm.

Here’s hoping I catch one of the reruns…

  2. And if anyone wants to hear Peter’s record-setting 2 hour appearance on “Destinies-The Voice of Science Fiction”, discussing the History of the Hulk along with Glenn Greenberg, visit http://www.cosmiclandscapes.com this week or next to catch the show in rotation with most of the country’s other SF radio shows.

  3. A-henh!

    “Naked Hulk aerobics sequence”?!?

First: the news of what we’ve come to know as the ‘Hulk Dogs’.

Next: the crappy-looking image on the cover of ‘Entertainment Weekly’ two weeks ago.

    Now: “naked Hulk aerobics sequence”.

    *Sigh*

Let the week of dread and cringing begin!!

  4. naked and aerobics? that is just wrong for so many reasons. what with his … all flopping around. god i hope its not a frontal.

have i suitably disgusted everyone? 😛

  5. “visit http://www.cosmiclandscapes.com“; Or, better still, don’t.

Five layers later, I still hadn’t found anything pertaining to that broadcast, and anything I did try to look at came up with a form to subscribe and then ‘buy’ the item in question.

There are enough also legitimate radio stations broadcasting free on the net, with far simpler menu systems, I think I’ll stick with them.

  6. Okay, okay, before my harmless aerobics comment turns into rumors all over the internet that it’s in the film: The sequence showing a naked Hulk exercising is part of a behind-the-scenes look where the animators are showing the process by which they developed the Hulk’s movement. In addition to showing how they developed every possible facial expression, they also show how they worked up test cycles where he was doing jumping jacks and other exercises. It’s early design test stuff and not in the film.

  7. Is anyone else surprised that a few months ago fans were clamoring for any glimpse of what the cgi Hulk would look like, and now it’s impossible to have a TV on for 10 minutes without seeing the big green guy? I’m looking forward to the movie, but there’s such a thing as overkill.

  8. I hope everyone is supporting Mr. Davids lifestyle by buying his Hulk novelization book.

  9. I hope everyone is supporting Mr. Davids lifestyle by buying his Hulk novelization book.

I bought the Hulk novelization last weekend and have been reading whenever I can. I want to finish it before the movie because I know I will enjoy his book probably more. The only problem is that I will be a little let down with the film because of it being such a good book. I did the same thing with X-Men II – the novelization by Chris Claremont was a lot better than the movie – and things change a little too. In the book — (invisible spoiler text)

    — There was no set up for the Phoenix storyline. They must have added that after the book had already been written.

It is really nice to read PAD doing the Hulk again.

  10. I’m sorry I missed the showing last night, but I’ll make sure I see one of the reviewings. Really interested to see what Peter had to say about the Hulk!

  11. We caught the last half of it, and my wife CHEERED when you showed up on screen PAD. It was only for a moment. Was there any more PAD, or just the one cut?

Of course, then Todd showed up and she hissed. And she just wondered why Joey Da Q had let himself go like that when he showed up.

-Joe (who got the same odd laugh out fo the naked Hulk aerobics clip)

  12. “I hope everyone is supporting Mr. Davids lifestyle by buying his Hulk novelization book.”

Well, I bought the book immediately. I’m not sure why, since I don’t plan on reading it until *after* I see the movie… but nonetheless, for some reason I felt like I still needed to own it as soon as possible.

I also saw that Junior addition that PAD informed us about here… didn’t pick that one up, since I was strapped for cash at the time. But, I will. Oh, I will.

PAD writing the Hulk again, in any form, in any medium, is reason to rejoice.

Of course, none of this means I “support PAD’s lifestyle.” I mean, come on, he owns a Dixie Chicks album. The commie scum!!!

  13. I had totally forgotten about it and was “channel surfing” and BAM! there was Peter hehe.

As far as the Hulk doing calastetics.

I’ll tell you this, i’m so tired off people saying “hulk looks bad” blah blah blah… Golem didn’t look that much different from Hulk.

The only differences are that Gollem is grayish and always was blending fairly good with it’s surrounding.

Hulk is green. A GIANT green dude.

Of course it looks out of place!

Plus, most stuff we see is not fully rendered with all the layers.

  14. I wasn’t going to buy the novelization, but having seen the movie on Monday, I’m betting it’ll be better, so maybe I’ll buy it after all.

Hëll, the naked aerobics sequence would be better.

  15. I, too, bought PAD’s Hulk movie novelization….but am holding off reading it until after I see the movie ( which’ll probably be a matinee on the 20th, as I’m in a show both Friday and Saturday night that weekend. Despite Cameron Diaz’s retort to Demi Moore in the ‘Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle’ trailer, being self-employed does have its advantages!! ) .

And, no, I didn’t really believe that the ‘naked aerobics’ sequence was part of the actual film….although early reports that the CGI Hulk would be, indeed, naked brought to mind shudder-worthy flashbacks of the ‘Heroes Reborn’ debacle of some years ago!!

  16. By the way, ‘heard the stories of the live-action ‘Thunderbirds’ movie?? Much like the proposed live-action ‘Samurai Jack’ feature, I find myself asking: “What’s the point??”! Why go live-action for the Thunderbirds when with CGI, the characters will look and move the same as they did on the old series!!

    ;^)

  17. Even though we watched the special, I’m going to have to catch one of the repeats…naturally, the phone rang the moment PAD showed up on screen, and I wasn’t able to get off the line (finalizing vacation plans for this weekend) until near the end.

What I did see actually did its job fairly well…it swayed my indifference towards the movie just a smidge towards wanting to see it.

  18. In response to The Star Wolf’s comments, Cosmic Landscapes netcasts as part of live365.com, which is a free service. There are offers to “buy” a broadcast, but it is not necessary in order to listen to it. Also, Destinies, like all of the other shows, airs in rotation. If you happen to come in after it airs(the order of the shows is given on the Cosmic Landscapes page), you have to wait until it comes around again.

  19. Howard: Thanks for the clarification. The site is poorly arranged with much clutter and doesn’t really make it clear.

Note to web site (or program) designers out there. The KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) principle is still as valid today as it was in its inception.

  20. Nice going, Peter. It’s good to know MTV has some class after all. I’ll buy the book. My wife also caught you on QVC (of all places) a few years back. Sure a long way from those Second Age collating parties, eh?
