Another Question for DC Experts

Anyone know any females in the DCU with the first name “Amber?”

I already know the Amber who is one of the personalities of Chain Lightning, although if she has a last name, that would be good to know.

  1. I just searched through a giant database of DCU characters. The only character with a first name of “Amber” that they had was a character in the Wildstorm Universe, which is technically Earth-50.

I suppose you could create a version of her on whatever Earth you need, since counterparts are common. Otherwise, I guess you’ll need to make up your own Amber.

I’m curious about the story behind such a specific request, PAD.

  2. Wikipedia lists an Amber who appeared in Arak #31 and an Amber who appeared in The Power Of Shazam! #43

And there was an Amber in an Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld miniseries written by Keith Giffen an Mindy Newell. In that series Amethyst was going up against Mordru so that puts it in the post-Crisis DCU Proper. May or many not still be canon.

    1. ….. WHO SPENDS THEIR LIVES COMPILING THIS STUFF??!?

As OCD as I can occasionally be about my hobbies, usually when I ought to be working, THAT puts my worst excesses to shame.

    1. As long as she doesn’t get into a fight with Robin. I don’t like it when Amber raves at Wayne.

  3. Actually, her real name is Amy. She suffers from multiple personality disorder. Amber was one of the personalities. As far as I know, she was given no last name. Perhaps Jerry Ordway gave her one when he re-introduced her in the Power of Shazam series.

  4. Okay, sit down, because even I’m ashamed I remember this one! Jericho of the New Teen Titans worked with a lady named Amber… she was one of his mother’s (Adeline Wilson’s) agents. Tales of the Teen Titans 51 & 52 (and yes, I had to look that up…)
    .

I also seem to remember an Amber-appellated young girl who was a rebel from Granny Goodness’ orphanage in the first George Perez JLA – the issue after Ðìçk Dillin’s last one. Maybe JLA #184?

  5. I’m glad someone confirmed my suspicions that there HAD to be an Amber in the Amethyst series 😉

  6. Now to go for the really obscure trivia: there was a character and series named “Forever Amber” in the first two issues of DC’s New Talent Showcase. Blond martial artist with a gem embedded in her palm that turned whatever it touched (except her) into amber.

      1. I think they’re in HyperTime. Or one of the alternates. Or something. I’m pretty sure there was a crossover somewhere.

  7. According to the Unofficial Guide to the DC Universe (www.dcuguide.com):

“A hero in the 31st century, Amber of the planet Dendron joined Leland McCauley’s Work Force when the team was re-booted after the Blight invasion. When McCauley became president and the Work Force evolved into the Presidental Oversight Watch, Amber was no longer a part of the team.” (Legionaires #81)

    Or,

“A slave girl in the 9th century who became the first love of Arak before her early death.” (Arak Son of Thunder #31)

  8. And in the “interestingly enough” dept: The previously mentioned Chain Lightning Amber made her first post-Crisis appearance in Power of Shazam #14, which also had an appearance by a New York City police officer named Rusty. (http://www.dcuguide.com/PoS/PoS_014.php)

If you’re looking to connect your last request for a DCU NY cop with this one, there you go!

  9. Unlikely at this late date whether this piece of info will make a difference, but on the cover of Ambush Bug: Year None #2, Ambush Bug, riffing on a scene from Silver Surfer #1, declares, “I, Amber Butane of the Amber Butane Corps….”
