Final Presidential debate

8;18: Currently watching “Supernatural.” Feeling very relaxed. That’s gonna change.

8:59; Please don’t let Biden screw up.

9:03: So I wonder how long it will be before Trump tries shouting over Biden’s mic.

9:05: Oh yeah. I’m sure Trump will let Biden speak.

9:05: And literally the first sentence out of his mouth is a lie. The estimated 2 million who were going to die was if the government did absolutely nothing. The vaccine is not coming and not ready. It’s all bûllšhìŧ.

9:07: No, he hasn’t been congratulated. Almost every country in the world has forbidden US citizens from coming there. And no, it’s not going away.

9:08: There we go. Biden is answering the question directly. Stark contrast. Meanwhile Trump actually looks like HE is falling asleep.

9:10: The military has NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.

9:11: Jesus. Winter is coming has now become part of our lives.

9:13: What in the hëll is Trump talking about? He’s just kind of rambling. I’ve lost track of his point.

9:15: “We’re not learning to live with it. We’re dying with it.” Best line so far.

9;16: Excellent. Biden finally stated that his comment about xenophobia wasn’t related to the shutdown. A lot of people might still not know that.

9:19: Have to admit, Trump is more under control this time. He’s not interrupting.

9:21: No, New York is not a ghost town. Kath was in NYC just a few days ago and she says it’s not. YOUR wonderful city? You disowned it, you schmuck.

9:23: Seriously? He’s attacking MICHIGAN? Where his followers tried to kidnap the governor?

9:23: Biden is trying not to break up. And no, Fauci is NOT a Democrat. He’s an independent. He keeps tossing this lie around.

9:25: “We have plenty of money.” Bûllšhìŧ. They’re out of money, having to pull advertising in a number of states.

9:29: And once again he pulls out the bûllšhìŧ rumor that Biden was given $3 million from Russia. We know that’s complete nonsense. Again, it’s right out of the Goebbels playbook. Say a lie enough times and it becomes the truth. ‘

9:30: He has the nerve to state that BIDEN is raking in money? Trump has made millions upon millions of dollars off American taxpayers.

9:31: Nail him on the tax returns. Screw him to the wall. Yes, Biden is saying everything I was just saying.

9:32: Oh God, he’s STILL hauling out the whole thing about how he can’t release his taxes because they’re under audit. It’s a complete lie.

9:34: No, they did NOT spy on his campaign. And now he’s off on the whole witch hunt thing. Jesus, this doesn’t end.

9:37: Yes, exactly. Trump cozies up to dictators and screws over our friends.

9:40: She’s doing a good job at wrangling him.

9:41: Good. Don’t get dragged into back and forth. Talk directly to the American people.

9:43: There’s no war SO FAR. Kim is preparing for it and he’s not acknowledging it.

9:45: Cut his microphone off. Let her steer the conversation.

9:46: He’ll make a vague promises about a much better program and talk about the individual mandate. That’s all he’s got.

9:48: He wants to come up with a new program? Odd. I thought he already had one. And no, Biden will NOT terminate private health care.

9:50: Good. Spell out that he’s not going to eliminate private insurance.

9:52: I love the contrast: Trump shakes his head while Biden speaks, and Biden is clearly laughing while Trump talks.

9:54: No, he’s not talking about ANY of that when he’s talking about a private option. “He’s very confused.” Good observation.

9:55: Trump’s losing it. The stock market? When was THAT brought up?

9:57: “We’re ready, willing and able” says the guy who walked away from the negotiations.

9:57: Biden is getting seriously pìššëd, talking about the stalled Heroes Act. Good to see that passion flying.

9:58: Yes, Democratic cities were being helped, and so were Republican farmers. But hey, why not take the opportunity to throw out some xenophobic comments about how people are going to want to come here from foreign countries.

10:02: And he’s not going to answer this question. And no, we don’t have 400 miles of wall; it’s thirty. “We’re working on it; we’re trying very hard.” Uh huh.

10;04: “We made a mistake.” Four words you will NEVER hear Trump say.

10;07: And we’re back with the whole thing about the notion that immigrants are murderers and racists. Gee, why would ANYONE think he’s xenophobic.

10:10: Given a chance to show his empathy, Trump says one sentence and then goes to the attack. And now he’s hauling out the whole “I’ve done more for black people than any other president” bûllšhìŧ.

10:12: Good. Don’t repeat the lie. Just say, “I never said that.” If you repeat the lie, that’s what people come away remembering.

10:12: Yes, he did run because of Barack Obama; because Obama made jokes about him.

10:15: Yes. He’s bringing up the exact story that I posted just the other day. Trump is spewing all sorts of bûllšhìŧ that the Russians have been feeding them.

10:17: “I have great relations with all people.” Gee, I seem to recall lots of people writing books about how much they hate him.

10:18: “A dog whistle as big as a foghorn.” Best line so far.

10:19: Once again he admits a mistake, something Trump will never do. Of course, it could be argued that he’s changed his mind in this instance because his own son suffered from drug problems. But so what?

10:21: Asked and answered. He and Obama DID do things during the eight years. Trump seriously can’t process it. And yes, we did have a Republican congress. Talk them into it? McConnell made a point of saying he was going to block everything Obama wanted to do. You don’t get to blame a man who wasn’t president on things that Obama wasn’t able to do because the GOP blocked them.

10:23: No, he hasn’t done an incredible job. He’s been doing everything he can to remove all rules protecting the environment.

10:26: Biden is laughing again. That’s gonna make Trump nuts.

10:26: Well yes, the plan he’s describing is crazy, but that’s because that’s not remotely the plan; it’s just a figment of his imagination.

10:28: WIND KILLS BIRDS? SERIOUSLY? Next he’s going to say that roadrunners outwit coyotes.

10:30: Well, thank God that’s over…oh. Shìŧ. They’re still going.

10:31: I’ve totally lost track of what they’re talking about.

10:34: “I was getting calls”. That’s what he always says when he makes šhìŧ up. And here’s the last question and once again HE DOESN’T ANSWER IT.

10:35: Biden, of course, answer it directly. It’s perfect because talking directly to Americans is when he’s at his best.

10:36: Anyone who forgets to vote at this point is so stupid that we don’t need their vote.

10:37: Christ, they’re going to say Trump won because he didn’t interrupt Biden.

  1. Is it just me, or does Trump standing there listening to Biden look like Ralph Kramden as he’s about to explode at Norton?

  2. Trump can’t help himself, he’s compelled to cheat with regard to speaking time.

Trump hasn’t done anything he’s actually done — Biden did it all.

    This is evil.

  3. I had to miss the last 30 minutes due to a condo board meeting. I’m glad this is the last one so I don’t have to listen to Benedict Donald anymore. (I’ve already voted, BTW.)

    1. Just to be clear, you DON’T “have to listen to Benedict Donald”. You can turn it off, refused to turn in in the first place, or do anything else that you want.

And if more people did, stopped treating him like some spectacle that they “have“ to watch, then the networks wouldn’t give them so much free air time because we’re making him good for their ratings.

(I realize I’m reacting somewhat vehemently to what may have just been your choice of words. But I am getting very tired of hearing people who clearly strongly object to what is happening yet act as if they have no choice.)

  4. “Seriously? He’s attacking MICHIGAN? Where his followers tried to kidnap the governor?”

Red flag on this play. The Michigan Morons were dedicated anarchists. They had ties to AntiFa, and one of them had a YouTube channel where they regularly denounced Trump and the police. They were hardly Trump followers.

Yes, wind power kills birds. A 2014 study says that solar panels and windmills kill over half a million birds a year. And even if those birds happen to be on the endangered species list, there are no legal repercussions like there would be for any other business.

Obama and Biden did do several things Trump hasn’t done during their term in office. For example, get involved in several wars. Libya, Syria, Somalia, and Yemen, just to name a few. Trump’s actually unwound several of Obama’s conflicts.

North Korea’s been threatening war for decades. Trump’s the first one to actually get them to back off at all. I suspect Trump’s history in New York having to deal with the corrupt political system and organized crime (but I repeat myself) has been useful in keeping Kim from going nuts — and weaning him away from China, who’ve been using North Korea as an attack dog for decades.

    1. That is jot quite an accurate depiction of the Michigan attempted terrorists.

They were actually an eclectic group, Some did hate Trump, one even made a video about it. However, others showed support for Trump. No reported ANTIFA ties though. Disliking Trump does not automatically mean ANTIFA or even left-wing.

It would actually be touching, getting past there differences. in this divided time… it was not to plot domestic terrorism.

However, whether they like Trump or not, there is a certain amount of responsibility on his head. Like last night, Trump has frequently claimed Michigan has some insane lock down. It does not. Most things are open, and have been since June. Gyms and movies reopened in September.

Given that a shockingly percentage of the would-be-terrorists are not from the Great Lakes State. They had to get the false idea from somewhere, and no one is stoking that fire more than anyone all roads most likely lead back to him..

Of course I only live in and am from Michigan. Though thankfully not the West Side of the state, where they were meeting and whose frequent waves of irresponsibility have been causing spikes in COVID. You see, the governor has about a 63% approval rating for how she handled the pandemic, but the GOP stripped her of her powers, and declared all orders ended. Three weeks later here we are. though the most densely populated counties are actually better at keeping numbers down… except Wasthenaw, but that is largely because of U of M.

  5. OK, I’ll throw in one more. Yes, Obama’s Justice Department spied on the Trump campaign. They obtained FISA warrants on key campaign officials, including Carter Page and Michael Flynn, with documents they knew were unreliable at best and fraudulent on their face. They lied on the applications about the sources of their information. (They counted Steele and Yahoo News as separate sources when they knew Yahoo’s source was Steele himself, for one. And Steele had been fired as an informant for the FBI for violating their rules.) The entire Russiagate investigation (triggered by Hillary’s campaign actually colluding with foreign agents, including Russians) was the embodiment of Lavrentiy Beria’s motto of “show me the man and I’ll show you the crime” — the very antithesis of the principles of our legal system.

    1. Can you possibly throw out any more BS in a single comment?

What “foreign agents” did Hillary’s campaign “collude with”? And how did the FBI people KNOW that documents “were unreliable at best and fraudulent on their face? You DO understand that “unreliable at best” and “fraudulent on their face” are mutually exclusive concepts, right? Well, of course you don’t. You’re some shill trying to pull some asinine both-siderism that is blatantly false.

The Trump campaign was DIRECTLY AIDED AND ABETTED by foreign agents (most had ties directly to Putin and his inner circle) and everyone who’s not a bootlicking Trump supporter recognizes that. In fact, the entire reason that Trump has been trying to tie Biden to some fictitious foreign dealings is because TRUMP IS TIED TO REAL FOREIGN DEALINGS. (Maybe you missed the fact that Trump–through his “organization”–has an active bank account IN CHINA. You know, that country that he decided to engage in a trade war which was threatening the US economy even before COVID-19?)

      1. “What “foreign agents” did Hillary’s campaign “collude with”?”

        Since you asked…

Hillary’s campaign, in collusion with the DNC (which Hillary’s campaign controlled through a financial arrangement made earlier) hired the law firm Perkins Coie for opposition research on Trump, with the funding illegally labelled “legal fees.” Perkins Coie, in turn, hired the private intelligence firm Fusion GPS to conduct the actual research. Fusion hired Christopher Steele, a British subject (there’s your first “foreign agent”) who was retired from MI5. Steele had also worked for the FBI as an informant/consultant, but was fired for breaking their rules about talking to the press.

Steele allegedly reached out to his contacts in Russia (some of whom with very close ties to Putin and his top cronies — more “foreign influence” to compile his dossier of material derogatory to Trump. It was a collection of some truths (already known), several things provably wrong, and a whole bunch of bad stuff that could not be proven.

Fusion GPS took that dossier to many of their friends in the press, but none of them would touch it because none of the good stuff could be verified. So Fusion resorted to alternate means. One of their Russia specialists, Nellie Ohr, was married to a top Justice Department official, Bruce Ohr. She gave him the dossier, who passed it on to his colleagues at the FBI. It got to James Comey, who figured out a way to push it into the mainstream press. He briefed President-Elect Trump on the salacious details in the dossier, then leaked about the briefing — making it a legit story.

This has all been thoroughly documented and vetted, with a hefty paper trail.

It’s also worth noting that a thorough examination of Hunter Biden’s career shows an utterly unmistakable pattern. Virtually every single job he has ever held has been 1) in a field where he had previously showed no aptitude or interest, and 2) hired by people seeking favors and approval from Joe Biden. From MBNA to the Clinton Commerce Department to lobbying firms to Amtrak to investment firms to the US Navy to Burisma, Hunter has been riding his father’s coattails for decades — and Joe not only has done nothing to stop his profiteering, but has cooperated in many cases.

And that’s not even touching on the business Hunter set up with John Kerry’s stepson and Boston mobster Whitey Bulger’s nephew and namesake.

It’s all out there if you’re just willing to look. Or even not willfully shut your eyes.

      2. Hunter. Biden. Isn’t. Running. For. Office. You. Incredible. Jáçkášš.

You know what? I have zero tolerance for Trumpies. None. The man is destroying this country and that’s okay with you. Anything else you say will be disemvoweled. I’ve had it with you and all your kind.

        PAD

      3. Don’t feed the trolls. Even a brief “I’m done. You’re gone.“ is giving them the attention that they crave.

Just silently disemvowel them and move on.

      4. At the risk of sounding like a Trump voter, I have to say that I’m not really sure how disemvoweling is supposed to be any kind of deterrent. I imagine Peter’s fans consider it to be some horrendous punishment and they would probably run away sobbing if it happened to them, but I don’t see how this would bother anyone else. The poster clearly isn’t the one doing it, and if anything, the only person who comes off looking foolish is Peter David. Every time he does it, I just can’t help but visualize him jamming his fingers in his ears, stamping his feet, running in a circle around the nearest piece of furniture, and bellowing “AAAAAAHHH! AAAAAAHHH!” at the top of his lungs.

      5. It’s not a deterrent, it’s a time-saver. Most people are skipping over the disemvoweled speaker’s comments anyway, so we make it a bit shorter to get to the next cogent comment. It’s not like most people can’t figure out what the comment originally said with a little bit of time and thought– probably more time and thought than the original commenter put into his comment, but hey.

      6. Projection is such a ‘tell’. Just like any straight-laced Christian politician who railed against gay marriage was bound to get caught up in a ‘wide stance’ in a bathroom, or having to explain their pool-boy coming on family vacation; it’s what people project that tells you what they’re most guilty of.

The Democrats and mainstream media (but I repeat myself) are constantly talking about foreign interference, Russia… it’s all projection for their own misdeeds.

Here’s Clinton as Secretary of State interfering in Russian elections. You may even think it was justified – but you can see why she would assume that Putin wanted revenge.

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmnTeeTKMw4&ab_channel=FRONTLINEPBS%7COfficial

Oh, and are we still concerned about foreign money in US elections? That’s new for the Clintons. Older readers may remember that Bill & Hillary got into trouble with laundering foreign cash as far back as 1996. People actually went to jail!
        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1996_United_States_campaign_finance_controversy#Department_of_Justice_investigation

It’s all projection. It’ll be hugely unpopular, but Trump has been investigated more fully than most. He’s actually a clean-skin compared to a lot of politicians, mostly because he hasn’t been one for long enough to do it properly.

  6. Hunter Biden is selling Joe Biden, and Joe’s fine as long as he’s getting his cut.

Now go back to whining about how the Trumpies never leave their bubbles and how they’re the intolerant ones who can’t engage in civil discourse and make reasonable arguments. Build your little wall and keep your oh-so-sensitive selves from having to acknowledge that disagreeing people even exist.

    1. I don’t think it counts as coming out of your bubble if you just show up and shout conspiracy theories. Hillary isn’t in the race. Obama isn’t in the race. Hunter Biden isn’t in the race. And if you want to prove that Joe Biden has done something corrupt then first you’re going to have to acknowledge everything that Trump has done in the past and explain why what Joe Biden has done is worse. That is always the block for Trump supporters – you’ve convinced yourself that he’s a saint, but everybody outside your bubble sees what he is. Even if you get something to stick to Joe Biden we’ll just have a race between Charles Ponzi and Ted Bundy. I have to say that some of us are disgusted that you made Bundy a contender because we wanted a better option than Ponzi.

      1. “And if you want to prove that Joe Biden has done something corrupt then first you’re going to have to acknowledge everything that Trump has done in the past and explain why what Joe Biden has done is worse.”

Really? Where is that written down? Do you observe that particular rule yourself — do you acknowledge everything Biden has done wrong first?

Trump a saint? Please. He was successful in New York City and Hollywood — that pretty much guarantees he’s got some serious moral baggage. And he used to pal around with Al Sharpton.

I’m not religious in any way, but someone brought up an interesting point. In the Bible, especially the Old Testament, the most heroic figures have seriously shady backgrounds. David, Moses, Samson — major-league sinners. But God chose them for what he needed done.

With Joe, who are you getting? The Joe Biden who won’t ban fracking, but will ban fossil fuels entirely? (BTW, fracking is a way of extracting fossil fuels, so if you get rid of fossil fuels, there goes fracking.) The author of the 90s crime bill, or the guy who says he wants to undo all that bill passed? The guy who won’t seize your guns, or the guy who’s promised to put Beto O’Rourke in charge of seizing guns?

OK, that’s a whole mess of unfair, because if Biden wins, he won’t be president for long. His deterioration is getting harder and harder to hide. (But not deny, apparently.) Pelosi’s already floated the 25th Amendment, which means you’re really voting for Harris.

I’m judging Trump by what he’s achieved. And without the anti-Trump hysteria goggles so many insist on supergluing to their heads.

Here’s the latest: in the last 45 years, exactly 5 Muslim nations have normalized relations with Israel. Three of those agreements have come within the last three months. And the Balkans melted down during Clinton’s administration (not saying it was his fault, just giving it a historical reference point), and the worst warring parties have finally come to terms — and are giving Trump full credit for it.

Obama said those manufacturing jobs ain’t ever coming back. Trump brought them back.

Biden voted for NAFTA, and said we wouldn’t ever get a better deal. Trump scrapped it and got us one.

The Paris Accords? By the Constitution, all treaties have to be approved by the Senate to be effective. Obama never even bothered to submit them. Trump not only recognized the reality, but brought an even better reality to the table. Most of the nations who signed on to the Paris Accords haven’t met their goals under it — but the US, which did NOT commit to them, has not only matched the goals, but exceeded them.

Trump’s a lousy guy. But he’s been a very successful president. No new wars, several old ones ended. New and fairer trade agreements. A booming economy until the virus hit, and already signs of a superb recovery.

And replace him with Harris, the dope-smoking prosecutor who was so harsh on drug dealers? Who boasted of filling the prisons? Who fought to keep wrongly-convicted people in prison? That’s a hard pass.

      2. …old favourite line from former Australian politician Gareth Evans: “this leadership contest is like having to pick between arsenic or cyanide”. Which one tastes like almonds?

But at least this blog can come together on a consensus candidate: it’s gotta be Roque De La Fuente*

*or Kanye. Depends which state you’re in.

      3. Sorry, quick one: Jordan, Hillary is in the race. She’s one of the Electoral College electors in New York, because I guess if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em.

  7. Just labelling someone a “Troll” so you can evade having to respond rationally to their arguments seems to betray a weakness in your position. It seems to me Jenos is making some good points — I believe that the contentious approach the Democrats have taken over the last few years instead of attempting a more conciliatory strategy has done more harm then help to the liberal cause. Fewer insults and more reasoned debate would have worked more in their favor I believe.

      1. Indeed. Typical ridiculous troll type comment. Refuses to acknowledge the crimes of the Republicans and whines that “The Democrats should have been even MORE conciliatory and stood back while we trashed the constitution“.

You know, the kind of thing designed to try and frustrate or enrage people to provoke a response. I feel neither frustration or anger. Just bored by the predictability of it all.

      1. “Refuses to acknowledge the crimes of the Republicans and whines that “The Democrats should have been even MORE conciliatory and stood back while we trashed the constitution“.”

Name an alleged crime, and I’ll address it. Free of charge, even.

  8. The 2 million number matches a calculation I did in March, with Germany’s number of 60-70% catching it and 10% dying. Roughly the population of Idaho was what my number came to.

  9. Hey, PAD. Haven’t seen much from Jenos Idanian since you threatened to disemvowel him.
Maybe it’s time MordWa got the same treatment.

    1. Hi Sean!

So sorry I threaten your fragile little ego so much. Are you that scared of alternate views, or being challenged? . But meh – it’s PAD’s blog, and when in Grandma’s house I abide by Grandma’s rules.

I do admire your commitment to the R.M. Renfield/ Waylon Smithers role you’re so desperate to inhabit though. Everyone should have a goal in life.
      *tongue firmly in cheek*

    2. Oh, you missed me? I was trying to be polite. You demanded I acknowledge some of Trump’s crimes, I asked you to name one that I’d specifically address, and you said nothing. I was giving you time to figure out which you’d like me to acknowledge.

      Got one yet?

    3. Let me make it clear, Sean: I am willing to politely, civilly, and maturely engage you on issues, without resorting to personal attacks, crude insults, snide observations, and am even giving you the opportunity to pick the issue. Care to step up and rise to the challenge?
