Cannot figure out the appeal of getting all giggly and whatnot about celebrity weddings in general, could really care less about a wedding involving the another country’s monarchy.
From what I saw on my Facebook feed, there was plenty who didn’t care about it. And many of whom I would say that they didn’t exactly care, but they were amused by it, or they found something positive about it.
Residing in the midwest, I wasn’t about to get up at the wee hours for the wedding of a couple to whom I bore no relation. But it was a tiny respite from the rest of the news, which was the latest school shooting or the latest of 45’s thumb exercises.

I call that turning the TV off, popping a podcast onto my iPod, and going for a long walk.
Or reading a book, playing sudoku, watching something else … everyone who also didn’t watch has their own way.
Binging The IT Crowd or Red Dwarf.
All good choices. Or the assorted super-serieses still in our DVR due to a sudden desire to binge something else, like Marvel movies (prepping for INFINITY WAR), Planet Earth (due to having visited the local zoo), or Shakespeare films (Prepping for the local Shakespeare Festival).
In our house, attentions tend to wander.
So, yeah, I’m happy for my friends who got up at some un-Deity-ly hour to watch the Royal Nuptials, (many of whom were either costumers or Royal Anglophiles), but I was not interested enough to be among their number.
If you haven’t already, throw the new Orient Express film into the mix. I passed it up in theaters because, well, seen it so many times and done in so many ways over the years. but, dámņ, having just seen it I have to say it’s worth a look and then some and was filmed with a few scenes that make me regret not seeing it on the big screen.
Happily, between loving the story and Branagh’s movies, we did see this one in the theater.
And really hope to be able to see DEATH ON THE NILE in the foreseeable future.
Didn’t interest me in the slightest.
Likewise with William and Kate a few years ago and Charles and Di back in the 80s.
Or pretty much any wedding not involving family or a close friend.
I don’t personally know any of these royal dudes and dudettes, so I’m not going to give any more thought to their weddings than those of couples who have wedding announcements in the local paper.
Rick.
I was going to say “yes” but apparently I was wrong
You’re not the only one. I didn’t watch the ceremony or listen to the commentary about the wedding. The royalty just doesn’t interest me.
I had no f***s to give, alas.
My mother, meanwhile, recorded it and about a dozen shows related to it.
I slept through it, but the highlights on the news made it look nice. I’m happy for them in the general way I am for any two random humans who seem to be very much in love.
The bishop’s sermon and the choir were both pretty neat, from what I’ve seen and read. And I do like that her beagle gets to live it up in Buckingham Palace while they’re on their honeymoon.
“The bishop’s sermon and the choir were both pretty neat”.
My wife put it on and during the sermon and when the choir sang Stand by Me I stopped what I was doing and payed attention. I was impressed by both. Also, I have to say the “cinematography” was impressive. The little of it I saw had shots that can rival Best Cinematography Oscar winning movies (just particular shots). Framing and color were just perfect.
The *slightest* dámņ? Yeah. Enough to know the players, and to wish those involved the best of luck.

But getting upset at media over-hype is like yelling at the ocean for being wet. It only annoys the pig.
Never confuse indifferent eye rolling for being upset.
I’m guessing that there just was no enthusiasm for complaining about the Royal Wedding.
In today’s media marketplace it’s easier to avoid being bombarded by events that others are hyping up, minimizing complaints about it.
I chalk the Royal Wedding up to being, as I do all sports events of any kind, “somebody else’s thing.” I have no personal interest in it. In that light, though, I don’t really understand some folks’ apparent rage that ANYbody is interested in it. I find watching golf about as interesting as watching paint dry, but I don’t hate OTHER people for liking to watch golf, or find it a sign of Western Civilization’s downfall that it gets airtime.
Didn’t care about the wedding, but I enjoyed Tish and Cord’s take on HBO.
I think Meghan’s kind of a babe and I wish them all the luck and happiness (and privacy) that they can get.
Pro-monarchy though I am, I got fed up with the tiresome hoopla months ago.
Anytime the British Crown comes up I think of my Irish grandmother whose thoughts were on the subject, and I quote:
“Fûçk the Queen.”

As a proud Brit and a Royalist I loved it but just happened to have other plans on the day so I just enjoyed watching the highlights later on. To anyone who doesn’t give a dámņ then I say quite simply don’t watch it. There are plenty of channels to choose from or (shock, horror) turn the telly of and go and do something else instead. It is lovely to have something to celebrate and enjoy for once amidst all the doom and gloom.
I’ll go you one further, PAD. I don’t give a rat’s ášš about the royals themselves. Excruciating tediousness.
And your point is?
Why do you care about how others feel?
What would you say to someone who “doesn’t give the slightest dámņ about” something that YOU like?

Geeks of our age ranges? Shrug, walk off, and say, “What’s new?”
British person here who cared not one jot. I took my family out for the day to a completely different castle – Warwick – and we saw a great show about the war of the roses instead. My wife was a tad put out she missed it all though – she spent the next morning binging on the highlights and sobbing along with the choir.
not the only one, I didn’t give a rat’s tail either

Many, many Brits share your apathy.
I might have watched it if was more like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKV6h_5XFbk
