What’cha Wanna Know?

We haven’t done a general Q&A thread in a while. Feel free to ask about any upcoming projects, general comics questions, etc. One question per person, please.

  1. Is there a character you were skeptical about writing but found you were able to get their character after a while?
    .
    Shatterstar

    1. And I’m glad you did, now I don’t have to be embarrassed when I tell people who my favorite comic book character was as a kid… 😉

  2. Are you planing on continuing your work on The Amory Wars? I found that you have added a clear and stabilizing voice to the narrative and hope that you continue with the next two parts.
    .
Glad you liked my contributions to Claudio’s universe. I’m currently in discussion with them to do a new novel.

  3. hi Peter,

thanks for these wonderfuls reads months after months with X-FACTOR.I hope to see more of Ruby and the fate of the Mutant Resistance (HEY WAIT THAT IS NOT MY QUESTION !!!!!!),actually I just finished to read your X-POSITION interview onto CBR, and talking about the “Oblivion” project and you quoted (but really, you know, just “quoted”)MAN-THING and I just had a kinda brain-attack, if you allow me.

Is there a chance to read new MAN-THING adventures written by you ?

    Best,
    .
THAT would be cool. An issue of Spidey Adventures was the last time I handled a Man-Thing…I mean, the last time I got my hands on Man-Thing…I mean, I could really sink my teeth into–On second thought, maybe I shouldn’t write it.

    1. You know with a big-name author like you your name would have to go above the title:

      Peter David’s Man-Thing

      1. I don’t know; I should think readers (at least the gay male or straight female ones) would get tired of only getting Man-Thing on a monthly basis…

  4. Hey PAD 🙂

Next year is the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who and apparently there are big plans for it all over at the BBC. If you have the chance, what would you do with it and how many of the previous Doctors would you love to work in to it?

Personally, I’m hoping for some answers about the Time War and would love to see Paul McGann’s regeneration, finally!

I’d do a riff on “The Prisoner” (which celebrates its 45th anniversary next year) with the current Doctor waking up in a town populated by nothing and no one except previous companions and incarnations of himself, none of whom have the faintest idea what he’s going on about when he says they’re all him. And of course they all have numbers, with the current one being Number 11.

    1. Oh nice! I can see it now…

      “Who are you??”
      “You are Number 11.”

“I am NOT a Number. I am a Time Lord!!”

  5. Has there been any talk of doing more Star Trek work with IDW (New Frontier or otherwise)?
    .
If there was, I wasn’t in the room when it happened.

  6. They say everyone is either a Dog person or a Cat person. Where do the X-Factor folks fall in the endless debate, jokes about Rahne aside.

(To be fair, I suppose Jamie is both. And probably has at least one dupe that hates both and one that loves both.)
    .
Guido’s a dog person. Monet’s a cat person. Shatterstar likes both dogs and cats. Layla’s a cat person. Rictor’s a dog person. Rahne, you shouldn’t even have to ask. Theresa’s a dog person, Irish setter in particular. Darwin’s a cat person, especially because of the whole nine lives thing. Longshot is a people person. Pip honestly doesn’t care.

    1. I was going to complain that you had left Jamie off your list until I realized that I didn’t have to ask because it’s obvious his dupes would vary all over the place and Jamie himself would be horrifically indecisive about the whole subject

  7. Here’s one question for two people, PAD and Kath: Has CGI killed the use of puppetry in television and movies? There was a time when there were puppet protagonists (Yoda, Rygel on FARSCAPE) and creatures (half of GREG THE BUNNY, the critters in LABYINTH). These days, it seems like studios are far more likely to create CGI protagonists (Gollum, Dobby), creatures (the orcs and trolls in THE LORD OF THE RINGS), and whole worlds (AVATAR, SUCKER PUNCH). Is there still a future or life for puppetry (beyond THE MUPPETS), or is this a case of technological evolution eliminating an older art form?

    What Kath said.

    1. Kath here although it might say Peter.

My answer is no. A lot of the motion capture is just another form of puppetry.

Andy Serkis has started a “school” to teach others how to operate motion capture or puppeteer the characters that can be done with it.

You just have to look at Waldo from the Muppets 3-D to see where this started.

  8. How, if at all, does being a writer yourself affect the way you view the works of others in your downtime?
    .
I tend to break down the plot and see the reasoning behind how everything was done. That and I tend to figure out stuff earlier than I really should.

  9. So, PAD, what’s your favorite Marx Brother’s movie?
    (Mine’s Duck Soup)
    .
    TAC
    .
Animal Crackers. Night at the Opera is a close second.

  10. When you’re writing for a character you haven’t written before, or a character you haven’t written in a while, how much research do you do on them?

Depends entirely upon how long they’re going to be in the book.

    1. So what if they’re a main character in a long term series, like Terry, Monet, or Rictor?
      .
I find all the character bios I can and also read through past adventures to try and get a feel for their voices, although honestly those voices can vary tremendously depending upon who’s writing them.

  11. Mr. David,

I love the drastic overall and characterization you have given to Shatterstar in “X-Factor”. Obviously, the character has a muddied and confusing backstory, some elements of which you have mentioned in the comics (i.e. the connection between him and Longshot)

I was wondering if you had any plans for a story arc examining his background or even what he was up to before hooking up with the team?

And if so, would that be something you would reveal through a series of issues, or perhaps in the form of a one-shot in the tradition of “The Quick And The Dead” and “Layla Miller”? (Hopefully this follow-up is counted as part of the original question, so as not to violate your ‘one per customer’ limitation. Sorry if it does!)
    .
I have plans, yes. Whether I’ll actually do the plans, of course, is another matter.

  12. How would you compare your current career situation with 10 years ago?
    .
    Better and worse.

    1. Worse in what way? From the outside, it looks better in that you’ve got an exclusive contract with the top company in comics, are constantly called upon to write major franchises that reach far beyond the comics world, and you’re running your own publishing operation.

  13. Do you have a collection of action figures of characters you had a hand in creating (Maestro, Spidey 2099, etc) and if so, did you have to purchase them or can you get them for free since, you know, they exist because of you.

If you collect action figures, that is. 🙂
    .
Yes, I have a collection, and yes, I had to purchase them. Except for one Hulk figure that a generous fan gave me.

  14. Did you ever came up with an Aquaman/Hulk crossover?
    .
Nope. If I had, and it had been feasible, I would have done it.

  15. .
So what does Cowboy Pete think of the last half-season of Doctor Who and the big River Song revelation?
    .
It was pretty obvious to me the moment they announced that Amy was pregnant. Pond. River. They do love their word play. Overall I’ve been enjoying it.

    1. I KNEW I wasn’t the only one to pick up on that!! Out of the people I hang out with in person, I was the only one to find it feasible, but they hang out with me, so how smart can they be?

    2. We picked up on it before it was actually revealed, but not long before … just earlier that episode. I thought it was very well handled, m’self. If they screw up the second half, I’m gonna hurt someone.

  16. No question, but I have to say thank you. I innocently picked up the first New Frontier books about a month ago, not knowing how completely hooked I would get. I just gobbled up “Dark Allies”, and “Requiem” is winging its way to me… with “Renaissance” and “Restoration” lying in wait in case I need an Excalibur trilogy marathon once it gets here.

I grew up on Next Gen, and this is the first time since that show’s first run that any ST has grabbed me like this. So many strong and complex characters, the power dynamics, the ethical grapplings, the humor… I’m very thankful for the chance to read these books.
    .
And I’ve very much enjoyed writing them for you.

  17. Last time you did one of these, I asked you what you thought of the potential of the new Spidey-flick. you said you needed to see a trailer. So, now that you’ve seen the trailer, what do you think of the potential of the new Spidey-flick?

I’m totally pumped, mostly because Webb’s movie and his music videos(Brand New Sic – Transit Gloria, Coheed and Cambria – Blood Red Summer, MCR – Helena, Weezer – Perfect Situation) are fantastic, it has a bit of an Ultimate Spider-Man vibe, Spidey apparently actually cracks jokes this time, it’s shot with super insanely high-def 3D cams, and both Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield are fantastic thespians. So, yeah, I believe in this movie quite a lot.
    .
I think it could be good. You know what it really needs? Me writing the novelization.

    1. That makes one of us. Setting aside the fact that Raimi’s films (the first two anyway) are scarcely ten years old and were fine, rendering this remake utterly unnecessary, we’ve got a lead who, unlike Macguire doesn’t look ‘puny’ (as in ‘puny Parker’) at all, a wretched-looking costume, and exposed mechanical web shooters which are “target for tonight” for the bad guys and raise the question of why an inventive genius able to build such is always broke (yes, I wondered that for the comics, too). I’ll pass.

      1. To be fair, comic book characters get a revamped origin about once a decade which is fairly par for the course. The Raimi-verse continuity is already a bit too set to try to put a new spin on it. And it’s not as if the film is a scene-by-scene literal remake of the first film. They keep saying they’re going to do something different and not make the same movie and, from all indications from the film, it’s not a remake in the sense that it’s keeping it very close to Raimi’s movies. Spidey’s a big character with a deep mythology, you can skin the cat a lot of different ways.

      2. ‘sides, if the options were A) reboot B) no more Spidey flicks C) go with the Raimi part 4 which was from all indications going to be rushed similarity all over the place ala Spidey 3 (aka The Vulutress and all that jazz), I’ll take a reboot. But if it was directed by McG and had Justin Timberlake as Spidey, I’d be first in line to boo and hiss. With this crew they’ve assembled? That seems like a lot better chance for a good movie.

      3. I’m actually surprised by how good the trailer looks. And I’m REALLY surprised that the director of 500 Days of Summer seems to have made a Spider-Man film that is darker in tone than the ones made by the director of Evil Dead, Darkman, and A Simple Plan.

  18. Could you post the entirety of the 2 articles Ray Stantz and Peter Venkman were reading, from page 15 of Ghostbusters: What in Samhain Just Happened?!
    .
    Yes. Yes, I could.

    1. Cool, I look forward to it! And thank you. My Internet was glitching yesterday, so I think I may have submitted this question 3-4 times, sorry about that.

      1. Yeah…this is the first time I asked Mr. David anything and the first time I’ve been to the website. He didn’t say “no” outright.

  19. hi Peter,

    thanks for your reply.

a…please, consider the idea beyond your second though, or I will think you want me to beg..

  20. I miss Fallen Angel tremendously – it was a truly special series, and I have greatly missed not getting it monthly (though I do understand your rationale for moving to the mini-series format). Any idea when we may see more?

I’ve been in discussion with IDW over that Soon, hopefully, I’ll be able to make a further announcement about that.

  21. Hello! Thank you for doing this, I always enjoy these Q&As.

My question is:- will we see any follow up to Terry sleeping with Deadpool?
    .
    God, I hope not.

  22. I have been reading “The Avengers: The Children’s Crusade,” and I squealed when X-Factor showed up at the end of the latest issue. “Hey!” said I, “you’ve got your chocolate in my peanut butter!” Did you do any collaboration with writer Allan Heinberg for that, and when will the Very Important Event in that story sync up with X-Factor? You might call that two questions, but in a grammatical sense, it’s technically one sentence …

I didn’t talk to Allan about it directly, but the editors approached me about it when it was still in the discussion stages and asked if I’d be cool with it. I said absolutely. I liked the notion of X-Factor getting some face time in a major crossover, and without me having to do any work!

  23. The Riot Squad aside from Hotshot and Jailbait, was colored inconsistantly whenever they appeared. WIll you tell us what you intended their colors to be? I can understand Soulman being white, since he could very well have had green eyes behind his glasses. (Did he?) Omnibus stopped being white after his first appearance to the traditional gamma green. But Orgress kept going back and forth from green to flesh colored.
    .
They were all supposed to be green. I don’t know what the hëll went on with the coloring.

  24. I asked this last time around but I think that’s when you blew out your back or something before you got that far down the list. Stay Healthy! 😉

I wonder if you’ve checked out the Warhammer 40K Universe and if you’d ever consider writing something there. I think a PAD novel would be a warmly welcomed addition to the fiction. I know I’d love to see what you could do with such a dark setting.
    .
    Never have, no.

  25. PAD,

Thanks for taking questions. I know this is may have been asked before: but what is your favorite Incredible Hulk memory/story? Two come to mind for me: the issue with Motormouth and Killpower the Hulk is in London and he has to rescue Prince Charles is a FUNNY! Thanks!
    .
When George Perez first showed me the double page splash early in the first issue of “Future Imperfect,” the one that showed the huge crowd scene in Dystopia, I said, “You should really put (Where’s) Waldo in there.” In the final inked page, sure enough, George stuck in Waldo. He’s not colored in because of legal considerations, but he’s there.

  26. This may have been answered in the past, but I don’t recall it: What are your daughters’ favorite comics (if any)? How about Kathleen’s favorites? Does your presence as a writer correlate with how well they like a comic?
    .
Shana and Gwen don’t like comics that I know of. Ariel likes the work of Terry Moore, previously “SIP” and now “Echo.” She also likes a lot of anime and manga, and also “Owly” and “Amelia Rules.” Caroline likes “Simpsons,” “Futurama” and “Archie” comics. Kathleen likes “Knights of the Dinner Table,” “PvP,” “Dork Tower,” and all my titles.

    1. Awesome list! I hope to see a letter from Kathleeen David in KODT (unless one ran and I missed it, in which case, sorry). Hoody hoo!

    2. Lies! Among my favorites are Peter Bagge’s Hate series, anything Acme Novelty Library, and plenty of graphic novels. I’m also a big R. Crumb fan. And considering that Gwen worked at New England Comics for so long I’d be surprised if she didn’t have a few picks.

      1. Yeah, it didn’t make sense to me that you and Gwen didn’t like comics. I mean, you were with your father at at least one convention that I went (the one where I first met him), so that didn’t make a lot of sense to me.

      2. I know what you USED to read, dear. In fact, I used to buy them for you. The question was set in present tense. I was unaware that you were still reading any of those, especially since you haven’t mentioned any of them in years. For that matter, whenever I ask your husband about potential birthday gifts, he never talks about any graphic novels or collections you’d want. Furthermore I had the disclaimer “that I know of.” It’s not a lie if you’re saying you don’t know for sure.
        .
        PAD

      3. Geez, you’re married now, Shana? Geez, where did the years go? I still remember when you were this wee little thing at the last Great Eastern Convention telling me when I came up to your Dad’s table with a stack of books to be signed that you knew how to forge his signature. 🙂

  27. Any chance we’ll be seeing Genis again any time soon? What did you think of his stint and death on Thunderbolts?

I hate that they killed him off. I really do. The less said, the better.

  28. Are we ever going to see a Peter David written episode of Young Justice?
    .
Yes, but I don’t know when. New episodes start airing in September, and my first episode is #18. I’ve written a total of three eps so far.

  29. Do you ever think about using a character then have to drop it because that character’s history/continuity is such a headache?
    .
No. If the history or continuity is that much of a problem, I just don’t refer to it.

  30. Wouldn’t it be cool if Multiple Man found that instead of just making copies of himself, he could make dupes look like other people? Get a concussion or something and have various people he’d imagine in his rattled state coming to life and arguing with each other? What if he made animal forms for his dupes, being a one man army, sending out hordes of rampaging wolf creatures or large predator birds to overwhelm an enemy with? Wouldn’t that be cool?

Or make hordes of his regular dupes, only naked, because having dozens of naked guys running around during a battle is more distracting to the enemy. Be funny. “Army of nudist attack!”

  31. What happened to Oedi? I remember reading somewhere that you left him out of the 6 issue Malibu “revival” on purpose: Oedi’s story was something that you were going to save for the second mini series. Unless you know something I don’t,(and I hope you do),that second mini series is never going to happen. So–again, “What happened to Odie?”

I honestly don’t remember. I had a whole separate storyline that was going to involve the search for Oedi, but I don’t recall where I was going to have them find him.

  32. Has a “Hulk Forever” comic been discussed beyond “That’s a good idea.”?
    .
If it’s been discussed at Marvel, no one’s told me about it. I doubt that there’s much chance of it, considering that they appear to have canceled the X-related “Forever” books, which you’d think would be guaranteed top sellers. Really, you have to just shake your head at that. What do the loudest fans say? “They should put Claremont back on X-Men! The old stuff was much better!” “Wolverine’s in everything! We’re sick of him!” So Marvel puts Chris on an X-book and Chris kills off Wolverine and boom, the fans don’t support it. What a shock.

    1. I discover tastes change. I used to believe I could never read any X-book he wasn’t involved in, but I then collected your original X-factor.
X-men went through many new authors and directions, and as I got older, I no longer much care for the direction it went. I wanted to see where Claremont was going to go, but he didn’t do that with Forever. He went somewhere entirely new, and left out characters he was using in ’91(‘B-list I suppose, but I really liked). It wasn’t what was advertised(or as I saw it to be).

  33. Are there any plans for more Sir Apropos of Nothing? If the first book’s rights are still locked up so that you can’t find another publisher for more novels, have you considered writing an e-book and publishing it yourself? I would think that fans of the earlier books would support the effort.

A related question I’ve wondered about e-books in general is why do authors use publishers anymore? With bookstores going away and e-book sales going up, I would think it would be much more lucrative to hire your own editor, self-publish e-books only, and keep 70% of the sales — rather than getting 35% from a publisher for e-books, or much, much less for print copies. The increase in e-book profit would seem to more than make up for loss of sales of the declining print buyers. Plus, you have the advantage of total control, and don’t have to worry about, for example, a publisher screwing you over by keeping only the first book of a series in print. However, virtually all established authors continue to use publishers, so what am I missing?
    .
I’m pretty sure I’ve answered the Apropos question elsewhere on this thread. So since it’s supposed to be one question per person, I’ll go for your second one. Why do authors use publishers? One word: Advance. The publishers give you money up front to write the book. Whether it actually earns out or not isn’t really your problem. Plus you don’t have to handle every phase of the production process, and when it comes out, go around beating the drums yourself. You have an entire mechanism behind you.

  34. What characters are DC and Marvel have you always wanted to write but for some reason or another never really gotten to?
    .
Actually I’ve been remarkably lucky; I’ve had the opportunity in my career, going back nearly thirty years, to write just about everyone I’d be interested in handling at some point or another.

    1. You said in the Aug 2003 Q&A that you’d like to write Batman. Any ideas for any Batman one-shots or out-of-continuity stories once your Marvel contract expires?

      1. Back in the mid 90’s where I started looking for anything PAD wrote, I once had a good mental chuckle imagining an issue of Batman which culminates in him being thrown to his knees in front of a seated figure, who, on the final page, is revealed to be… King Tut. The mental image concludes with a small stinger panel of Batman screaming “PETERRRRR!!!!”

  35. I believe you mentioned before that any additional New Frontier novels would depend on the sales of the last one. So, has there been any verdict on if the sales were good enough so that fans might see more of these characters?

No verdict so far. And I can assure you it’s making me as nuts as it is you.

  36. Regarding the latest issue of X-FACTOR–“Agamemnon”–this is a name that will surely be familiar to fans of your work at Marvel. Is this a callback to some old HULK stories, or are you just a big fan of Greek myths?
    .
More than a callback. It’s the same guy.

      1. I was wondering if the Pantheon would be making some sort of return. Now if only the Troyjans would make a cameo … 🙂

  37. Who were the Marvel characters that the Soulsearchers and Company were based on?
    .
Bridget and Baraka were based on Hellcat and Daimon Hellstrom. I think the rest of the crew was more or less original.

  38. I thought about asking how many ideas pop into your head in a given week, but after yesterday’s trip to the Brunswick Zone, have you any advice on how to help a ten year old stop bowling with such a hook? Three hours of bowling and he might’ve thrown four straight.
    .
Why would you want to stop him? You get much better carry rolling a hook. First off, keep in mind that a ball is going to hook more if the lanes are dry. Second, how pronounced a hook are we talking about? Assuming that he’s right handed, which side of the lanes is he standing on? If he’s on the right hand side, move him over to the left side of the lane and get him to throw the ball between, oh, let’s say the second and third arrows on the right. This will change the break point of the ball so that it might well hook directly into the pocket. Also, is he using a house ball or a ball drilled for him? If it’s the former, that’s pretty dámņëd impressive, because house balls aren’t designed to hook. If it’s the latter, you could have it redrilled to compensate. Give it a weaker roll so that it won’t overhook so much.

  39. I’d love to see an ‘off duty’ issue of X-Factor that’s just the team on a night out/pub crawl (though it’d probably end in a bar fight). With that in mind, who’s the best pool player in X-Factor?

Best pool player? Longshot, without question.

  40. I asked you my upcoming question in person about 20 years ago concerning Knight Life and Howling Mad, and you responded something like, “I haven’t thought about it”. Fortunately, Knight Life continued. So, I’m hoping the answer will be different this time for Howling Mad. Here’s the question: Any chance of continuing the story of Howling Mad in any format in the near future? Please bear in mind that I haven’t had the opportunity to read the short story follow-up published in Otherwere yet; so, I don’t know if that story killed any chance of more.

If you real the novella, I think you’ll see that it actually concludes the story rather well. It didn’t kill it, but I’m not sure where I’d take it at this point.

  41. Which artist would you say you clicked with most during your Hulk run? That is to say the Kirby to your Stan Lee, the Byrne to your Claremont, the Hitch to your Millar, you get the idea.
    .
Probably George Perez. “Future Imperfect” remains my favorite Hulk endeavor, ever. If you’re talking about on a monthly basis, probably Dale.

  42. Do the offices of DC and Marvel have some sort of library of back issues or trades for reference purposes?
    .
DC did at one point; I don’t know if they still do. I’ve never seen it at Marvel.

    1. Ah-ah-ah, that’s a cop-out answer. So, I’m entitled to a bonus question:
When it was decided to give Hulk his healing factor schtick, was anyone afraid that this would escalate him to “Super-man level of writing difficulty” when it came to actually putting him in any kind of real danger?
      .
It’s not a cop-out answer. It’s how I felt. So I don’t know that you’re entitled to jack squat. But if you really want, I’ll answer your follow up question: no.

  43. Do you think that, at some point, you would do a regular fiction novel, something that’s not sci-fi or fantasy? Why or why not?

I actually have been kicking around a notion for something neither SF nor fantasy; just haven’t written it yet.

  44. Peter, as a fan, if you could put your dream team of creators (preferably still living creators) on a line of books at Marvel and/or DC, who would you put on which books?
    .
Aw man, Luigi, that question is just gonna require way more brianpower than I’m interested in expending. Aside from wanting to see Neil Gaiman and Mike Kaluta do “The Shadow,” I really don’t feel like coming up with entire dream teams right now.

    1. Aw man, Luigi, that question is just gonna require way more brianpower…
Okay, fine, we’ll get Brian to transcribe your teams and edit them into properly formatted….
      .
      .
Oh, you probably meant brainpower. Okay, never mind.

  45. Peter, do you think that Marvel and DC (especially DC) should stop posturing and do some crossovers again?
    .
Without accepting the notion that there’s been “posturing,” I’ll just say that I’d love to see crossovers again. The Marvel vs. DC was really born out of the relationship between Gruenwald and Carlin, two guys who were basically like brothers. Indeed, the giant chess-playing beings in that limited series were basically stand ins for them. M v DC was one of the hands-down best creative experiences I ever had. The brainstorming session in Gruenwald’s apartment with Mike, Mark and Ron…man, it was great.

  46. Would you please name a movie you’ve enjoyed and — if you’ll allow me a twofer — how would you have adapted that film to make it even more enjoyable?
    .
“Casablanca.” And it’s a near perfect film, so I doubt that there’s anything I could do to improve upon it. Although it’d be interesting to see them turn it into a musical. After all, one of the most memorable moments was when the patrons of Rick’s Cafe American go head to head in a sing off with the Nazis. So I could easily see it as a musical. And here’s the best part: Rick is the only one who doesn’t sing. He’s too world weary. Instead his thoughts and emotions are reflected in the stuff that Sam sings. But Rick himself has no songs…except in Paris. If you have flashback to their happiness in Paris, THEN you have Rick sing. But otherwise there are no songs in him.

  47. My usual roomies at DragonCon have bailed on me this year, and I’ve no one to split the cost of the room I’d already reserved at the Marriott Marquis. Would you send out a general announcement on your social media outlets of my plight and my quest for new roommates?

Looking forward to seeing you again at Dragon, PAD! 🙂
    .
No, I’m not gonna do that, because then everyone who needs roommates for conventions is going to start asking me to do that and I’ve no interest in running a board for that. On the other hand, I’m surprised that no one already is. Call it “Mars Wants Roommates” or perhaps “Crash Space”–a fan site dedicated solely for fans who want to advertise as either needing a room space to crash in or are looking for someone to crash with them. Furthermore you run it like eBay in that people join up and have other registered users who vouch for them or, for that matter, can put up negative feedback. “Great roommate; knew where all the best parties were.” “Snores like a broken steam engine; avoid at all costs. That way there’s some manner of screening process so you’re not flying blind the way that fans usually are when looking for someone or someplace.

  48. A Babylon 5 question for you since the discussion came up recently on jmsnews.com.

Is there any likelyhood your Babylon 5 novels might be made available in ebook format either via Del Rey or yourself?
    .
Unlikely since I don’t own the rights to it; Warners does. The only way it could happen is it I broker some sort of deal with Warners to do it, and even if that happened, they would probably want such a sizable percentage of the income it generates that it wouldn’t be worth it.
