Here’s What I Think The Mets Need to Do…

Tear down CitiField, rebuild Shea, and pretend the whole season never happened.

  1. The Mets’ real problem is the injury bug that they caught. Its freaky; but it can happen to any club, at any time. Any stadium issues are growing pains that should be gone next year. My Padres went on a nice run after their first year in Petco. It only ended because the owner’s marriage disintegrated into a very bitter divorce, causing massive budget cutbacks and the team being put on the auction block.Hiring a club president that was more concerned with his system, than what would work in Petco and drove off talent at all levels of the organization didn’t help. Since the Mets don’t have these problems, they should be fine next year.

  2. All they need to do is make a deal with Mephisto and it’ll be like the whole thing never happened…

    1. I like it.

I swear, if Derek Jeter was on the Mets and about to set a club hitting record, he’d sustain a career-ending injury on his next at-bat.

  3. No, what they NEED to do is sign Matt Holliday and take a chance on a pitcher like Joel Piniero or Randy Wolf, let Daniel Murphy play 1st and go with a Thole/Santos platoon at C, reconfigure the whole medical staff, and designate somebody else, ANYbody else, as the guy who talks to the media instead of Omar.

And while that’s happening, maybe DC will retcon the “New” New Teen Titans and bring back Young Justice.

It’s going to be a long decade in Flushing…

  4. I’m not sure what to do with Omar but Jerry, the coaches, and the medical staff should be fired. Don’t re-sign Delgado, Sheffield, and anyone else past their sell through date.

  5. From what I hear, the biggest problem with correcting the Mets issues is money. They haven’t filled the seats at all this season, and the Wilpon’s were burned by Bernie Madoff’s scheme.

So while they may know what the best things to do are, they may not be able to afford all of them.

Personally, I’d like to see the whole medical/training staff get a thorough review.
