More interesting Hasbro news: “The Game of Life” is seeking 162 real stories about “extreme” experiences, adventures and situations for inclusion in an upcoming game.
Stories could be about competing in a dog sled race, being abducted by aliens, getting stuck on a
roller coaster, rescuing someone from a burning building, helping set a world record in Jenga, or anything else … as long as it’s true. Stories – each 100 words or less – must be submitted no later than September 7, 2008. One hundred sixty-two stories and their authors will be used in a deck of cards that players will draw when they land on certain spaces on the game board of the 2009-releasing “The Game of Life: Extreme Reality Edition.”

I once threatened to jump off the Empire State Building because Peter David never got around to reviewing The Dark Knight.
Less than a month ago, I bought the new version of Clue after hearing it talked about on NPR. The characters now have backstories and “powers,” the rooms have been changed and there are new weapons. But the most interesting aspect of this version to me is that, if the players take too long to solve the murder, the killer strikes again! And the victim is one of the players. (In fact, it’s possible for ALL of the players to die without ever solving the murder, though it would be hard for that to happen.) I will be running it at PentaCon here in Fort Wayne Nov. 7-9. And I may bring it with me to Mid-Ohio-Con the first week of October.
