  1. Forgive me for being snarky, but this Silver Bullet site has the stupidest mechanism for previewing comics I’ve ever seen. The five preview pages are represented by the infinitesimally small buttons at the bottom of the page. Not that they would TELL you this; I clicked all over the page for several minutes until I discovered those dots weren’t simply gingerbread decoration for the page, but the preview links. There are still supposedly-pro web designers who don’t understand that these gimmicks are not intuitive.

As for the pages…well, since I love the series and will buy it anyway, let’s just say I’ll be more intrigued to see what develops after the scenes. Since Lee is already fallen, and from what I can tell has misrepresented herself to the little kid already, this could be quite interesting.

  2. I didn’t see any buttons. I saw small versions of the pages that I clicked on directly in order to view larger ones.

When you said “the different art style”, Peter, I thought you meant some other style of painting, or some other technology for rendering it. I didn’t realize you meant simply the traditional pen-and-ink method. Looking over the pages, I really prefer J.K.’s pen-and-ink work over his painting, as it looks more clear. (Except for the cover, which looks nice) It’d be fine with me if J.K. stuck with the traditional pen-and-ink method for the interior, if he’s curious.

Btw, Peter, something I hadn’t thought about until now was Roger Ebert’s recurring musing about how movies often depict angels incorrectly as former humans, inasmuch as theologians contend that angels are not former humans, but beings without any substance. Ebert noted that Kevin Smith touched upon this point by making Metatron and Serendipity anatomically non-human in Dogma. So what is your take on angels in Fallen Angel? I ask, because I notice that they have sex in the book. Are the angels in FA former humans? Or does Lee only have this ability because she’s Fallen? And does this mean that Malachi is a Fallen too?

  3. All I saw was the dots. Something about their webpage is screwed up for some people.

Plus, weren’t those the same pages that were on Newsarama several weeks ago?

  4. Interestingly, I just looked at the cover upside down to get a better look at the artwork, in particular, J.K.’s rendering of the cloth draped over Lee, and only now did I see that that grooves in the sand on either side of her are meant to evoke the image of her wings. Had I not flipped the image, I wouldn’t have seen that.

  5. Years ago in MAD, Dave Berg (back when he was still doing three pages of multipanel gags on a single subject each issue) did one on cars and drivers — setup”Ever wonder what dogs would do if they actually caught a car?” “I’ll slow down and we can see.” Second panel: “Now that we know, let’s find a car wash.”

  6. Here’s a direct link to the Silver Bullet page.

The previews look nice. I think I personally prefer this style, but I’ll know better when I actually see it.

  7. There is also a preview at CBR…

While I loved the art in the first arc, this new style does look more ‘clear’.

I like it, but I’ll wait to decide if it’s better on the long run when I have seen the entire comic.
