Project Updates

Here’s a rundown of what I’ve been up to:

ST: The New Frontier–M.I.A.: That’s the title, not the status. Manuscript with revision requests from Paramount received last week. Delivered back to Pocket Books with revisions completed last Tuesday. Publication slated for next Spring.

Animated Series Pilot–Final draft delivered to show’s creator and producers two days ago. (No, I didn’t create the show, but it’s flattering that the show’s creator wanted me to write the pilot). Now we see if it gets sold.

How To Write Comics–Final draft delivered to Impact Press. Publicaton slated for next Summer.

Fall of Knight–Third book in King Arthur trilogy, delivered to Ace Books. Slated for publication next summer.

Hidden Earth–Tor is circulating bound manuscript to authors for quotes. Anyone know Terry Pratchett? Seriously?

Spike vs. Dracula–Five issue limited series that IDW just got the go-ahead for, charting the history of the Spike/Dracula feud and why specifically Dracula owes Spike money. Slated to feature guest appearances by Drusilla, Darla, Bela Lugosi, Ed Wood, and Adolf Hitler. Slated for early next year.

Fallen Angel–Script for issue #2 turned in. Issue #2 will also feature two covers, one by J.K. Woodward, and one by Dave Lopez. I’ll be putting both of them up on the site in the near future.

  1. I think it would hard to top the way they treat Hitler in “Little Nicky”.

As always I find myself looking forward to the next New Frontier novel. I’m reading Michael Jan Friedman’s “Death in Winter” and got a little excited in the beginning when the Praetor refers to her agent as the “half-breed”, almost expected Soleta instead of Sela. I didn’t think the Romulans would ever put her in charge of anything again after so many screw-ups.

  2. It’s about time we saw another New Frontier novel. These need to come out a lot quicker. I need a 6 month fix, not an 18 month fix.

  3. Peter –
Just write to Terry and tell him Neil said to say hi.

He did. A lot. All over the US, from rumours, and most definitely in Seattle and Victoria. 😉

  4. Although the reply is late, let me say that I have nothing against anime. I DO have something against people adapting anime stylization because it’s the “hot” thing to do, whether or not it’s appropriate to the material. My only contention is that this supposed “Buffy” series would work best as a straight animated series, without “super-deformed” anything. Let the characters keep their shape and not change artistic styles, so we don’t get pulled out of the seriousness of the story. (As was done, for example, in one of the most respected anime series, “Cowboy Bebop.”)

A series like “Teen Titans” works with a more exaggerated anime form, because they’re supposed to be laughing-out-loud funny at times. I don’t think Buffy fans are looking for a “laff riot.”

  5. when is NF After the Fall coming out in paperback? I know it’s been out for a while in hardcover, i’m surprised it isnt out yet in pb.

  6. Peter, fantastic new projects you have.
I’m really looking forward to Fallen angel and Spike vs Dracula.
Just a quik question, are you allowed to write a Spike post-nfa(Never fade way) comic or is that off limits for all writers.

It should be out in paperback in December.

  8. Congrats PAD.IDW seems to have sold the second run of Spike: Old Times in four days. It’s now no longer available there after being it’s best seller since they announced they were taking orders again.

I can’t wait for Spike v’s Dracula. The poncey bûggër owes him a ll pounds.

  9. If anyone here is a member at Whedonesque.com, you should post the ‘Spike vs Dracula’ news as I’ve yet to see a mention of it there.

  10. I’m really surprised nobody’s figured out what the animated series is yet.

Wasn’t PAD talking about working on an animated series about a year ago…one that didn’t happen at the time for whatever reason.

And hasn’t there been talk recently about another animated series that suddenly can’t use certain characters any longer? Ones that have been used before but are suddenly off-limits. Ones that PAD may have had a “hand” in over the years.

    I’m just sayin’ is all.

  11. Also, don’t forget that Peter is a comic book guest at United Fan Con, November 11-13 at the Springfield Marriot in Springfield, Mass. Oh yeah, they also got some guy named Patrick Stewart there too.

  12. I agree with you the way you view the issue. I remember Jack London once said everything positive has a negative side; everything negative has positive side. It is also interesting to see different viewpoints & learn useful things in the discussion.
