Dragon Con, Day 1

Did a phone interview for Marvel yesterday for Spider-Man: The Other. I thought it was going to be Joe, Reggie and I, and it turned out to my shock to be me, some Marvel editors, and a battery of fan reporters and retailers. So that was kind of surprising. I hope I didn’t sound like an idiot.

Stayed in the room last night while Kath, a former Atlanta resident, renewed old friendships and acquaintances on the party circuit. Woke up this morning, showered and am ready for the day. Should be interesting. I have a 3 PM reading in the Williams room that appears nowhere on any schedule, and a 7 PM focus-on-me panel (God help me.) Kath has stuff in the artshow, including a muppet of Scorpius.

  2. Good luck with the self-focused panel; you certainly deserve to be given one!

    And that breakfast sounds like a nice idea. Personally (if I were in the area, of course) – while realizing intellctually that you both are just regular people who happen to be in high-exposure jobs – I might be too intimidated by it. An author I’ve been reading and enjoying for – eighteen years now? And an actress from a JOSS show? Some people, such as myself, might have a hard time relaxing for the length of a breakfast with you guys – hopefully not enough to keep you from getting a good bid; but if there aren’t THAT many bidders, it seems to me that intimidation would be a more likely reason than lack of interest. At any rate, good luck, and enjoy your weekend!

  4. Kathleen brought the Scorpy puppet along to I-Con in Long Island a few months back. Take my word for it: it’s extremely groovy-looking.

  5. I’m with tjack, I’m afraid. With Jewel around I’m not sure I’d even notice you at the table (or remember to breathe).

    Anyone reading this who is there, make sure you hit the Buckaroo Banzai fan table if you get a chance… Tell ’em ArcLight sent you.

  7. Yes, Jewel has been in other series. Yes, she’s married [as memory serves] and is probably looking forward to having 2.5 kids of her own.

    MY problem is that I still remember the girl wearing the rainbow wig.

    I can’t get the two images to compute.
