Okay, that’s done

Just finished the manuscript for the next “New Frontier” novel, “M.I.A.” The book around about 10,000 words longer than the previous one.

Moving on: I’m working on two more books: One on how to write comics, and the third in the “King Arthur” series, entitled, “Fall of Knight.” And hey, kids…check this pull quote for the book on writing comics:

“I can’t think of anyone better qualified to give advice on comicbook writing than the multi-talented Peter David. I’ve been a fan of his for years and will be first on line to buy his book. “–Stan Lee

Cool, huh. Some days I love my job.

  1. “Peter have you ever thougth that someday(or probably already) someone will say:”Peter David like my work, wow that make my year. I can die a happy man””

I can testify that “someday” is here.

My sister is a writer, with a few short-story sales under her belt. And like a good sister, I was excited with each sale. But when she was invited to submit for No Limits — a project with Peter David????!!!!!!!!

As I recall, I almost dropped the phone when she told me. That is my definition of success — my favorite author, my favorite series, and now my favorite (if only) sister.

So for the manditory bragging — My sister is Peg Robinson, author of “A Lady of Xenex”. Go pick up your copies of No Limits and enjoy.

  2. lol… well, while I think saying “standing ON line” is just wrong, I would point out that if there’s a line actually painted on the ground, then you could stand on that line….

  3. Well, if you really want to get techical (I’m a technical writer, so I can’t help myself) . . . Whether you’re on it or in it, if you’re “standing” then the line is never moving.

Hmmm, maybe it’s one of those jokes in language where the funny part has been forgotten!

  4. Hi Peter, I’m really looking forward to the next NF, normally I wait for most American novelisations/tie ins to get a UK release, but in the case of your Trek and B5 novels I usually break that rule and pay the extra couple of quid for imports, and go the extra couple of miles to the specialist shops.

    Cheers

  5. So, that quote from Stan Lee? That going on the tombstone whne you leave us 75 years or so from now? 🙂

  6. PAD,

If I may make a small request as a novice, amateur writer about the “How To” book? It’s a small thing I’m sure to you and I don’t know if your finished with it but could you please put a note or two about naming characters? I find it the hardest part. I don’t want the name to be too uninspiring, but i want it original, plus….well you know it better than I.

Jester, If I find the No Limits I’ll certainly check it out. I find anytime someone new gets published it’s exciting.

  7. Greetings All,

Long-time lurker, first-time poster! Huzzah, I have broken the lurking barrier!

PAD: A new New Frontier Book? Sweet! A new Arthur Book? Excellent! Now, all we need is a new Apropos book for the Peter David Trifecta to be complete! Also, I appreciate the heads-up that all of the NF books will be either self-contained or two parters. I would have read them regardless, but it’s good to know. Thanks,

    Bill

  8. PAD,
A little while ago, I finished “After the Fall”. I liked the book, but my curiosity got the better of me, and I just had to ask: Where did you get the title from? What exactly is it in reference to?
    Thanks.
    Tom Pearce.

  9. Any chance at a NEW Apropos Book in the Horizon?

  10. Dear Mr. David,

I just recieved a form letter the other day from Marvel Comics about my comic script, I was totally shocked and amazed to recieve it, it was totally unexpected. I am making the assumption that you were the one who submitted it and I just wanted to thank you for submitting my story Genesis “The Beginning of the End” to the publishers at Marvel Comics. That was more then I ever expect and it means a lot to me that you do that much for me. You are totally fantastic, for doing that. I hope things are going great for you and that you are enjoying the storyline Genesis, for that was the main reason I was sending it to you; I just want to share my ideals with someone who could appreciated it and maybe I’ll admitted influence you to introduce Arielle to Marvel Universe.

    Thanks a million;

    Corey Stockert

P.S. you will recieve another thank you letter in the mail once I get my computer keyboard fixed/replaced at home (I am at the libary right now).

  11. “Writing Comics with Peter David” is coming from this publisher, Summer 2006:

    http://www.artistsnetwork.com/impact_books/titles.asp

Their parent company is Krause Publications that also publishes CBG.

To nitpick a little, it’s not really the case that Impact Books’ “parent company” is Krause. Rather both Impact Books and Krause are owned by the same company. Or more specifically, Impact Books is an imprint of F+W Publications, which it the company that bought Krause in 2002.

All that said, F+W has been doing a great job attracting great talent to write for their Impact Books line. I used to work for a book publisher that’s competitive with F+W; if I still did, I’d be envious of their list of how-to books from authors like Peter David, Colleen Doran, Ðìçk Giordano, Lea Hernandez, and others. But since I don’t I can sit back and be duly impressed with the talent they’re putting together!

  12. A new Arthur book!

    A new New Frontiers book!

Yet another word of praise from Stan the Man (I remember his comment on your BID article “Why are writers treated like scum?”)!

Does life get any better than this?

    Way to go Peter!
