Yes, I’m aware that “Fallen Angel #19” isn’t on the January solicits. Don’t worry about it.
I announced about a week or so ago that DC had given the go-ahead to continue the series past #18. But since we hadn’t started it yet, we had two choices: Try to slap-dash issue #19 together to meet the deadlines, or skip a month and do it right. We opted for the latter.
So you’ll see “Fallen Angel #19” solicited for February release.

Great to hear it got a stay of execution for 2 more issues at least, but aren’t you a lil’ worried that a month for a book on the edge of the knife is a lil’ well, risky?
Erm, make that – “a month long delay”. Just got off the exercise bike and brain is a lil’ scrambled.
It’s only got a 2 issue extension?
Yeah. The month delay worries me a bit as well. For a book on the edge, the few new readers that the first issue giveaway brought in might very well give up on the book if it’s “late.” Even though it won’t really be late, it will have the appearance of being late.
Just make a note in the back pages of the December issue that there will be a 1 month vacation every 18 months. This way readers won’t be looking for it in the stores in January. By the time issue 36 rolls around, you can decide whether or not to do it again. (tongue-slightly-in-cheek)

Well, it’s nice to see PAD getting the recognition of visonary from Marvel. Plus, I’m not sure it is so but at least it’s the first time I’ve ever seen a WRITER being given this honor. (No, wait, maybe Claremont has been acknowledged too?) Anyway! Well deserved! And I’m SO looking forward to the new adventures. It has been far too long since reading the Hulk meant something.
Hey, PAD, any chance you could do another one of those General Q&A entries? It’s been a while.
Maybe DC can put a link on their home page for #19 and tag it with the ‘great jumping on point for new readers’ line. Of course, I doubt they would do that if the axe is falling after #20.
Let’s all keep up the word of mouth on this title. Everyone’s hard work has paid off briefly … but I think we all want it to pay off in the long term.
I truly hope that 6-12 get collected in trade format.

It is too bad that you had to skip a month between issues. This could be a momentum killer for the title. I sure hope not.
Oh well, as an old geezer of 42, I am just glad to not have to see a reprint as Marvel Comics so frequently had during the 70’s. On the otherhand, you could have done your own version of HOWARD THE DUCK #16…
Thank God this book is at DC. While I am a Marvel fan I think they cancel their low selling books way to quickly.

Claremont had one, but it was a ragtag bunch of issues, rather than an arc (there was one issue of Kitty Pryde & Wolverine, a few assorted UXM issues, an Excalibur issue (the Nightcrawler: Warlord one from the Cross-Time Caper), and maybe X-Men #1, although I’m not sure.
So PAD may be the first to get one as a series (since v1 has 331-339) 🙂
I was skipping back and forth through the DC section looking for # 19, couldn’t find it, but now I know it isn’t there…
I also ordered the Hulk visionaries TPB, and I hope Marvel will publish the next volume fast after this one….

Can’t wait to read this, and I have my fingers crossed for more than 20 issues of Fallen Angel….
I’ve really been enjoying Fallen Angel and think that it’s getting better; all of the characterizations are starting to hit their stride. I’ll admit that I’m one of those reader’s who doesn’t catch the deeper stuff or see the minutiae (such as Juris putting away the papers so that they’re aren’t blown away when Lee enters the office), but I definitely don’t want anything dumbed down or overly-expositionalized.
I don’t think that the one-month hiatus will kill any momentum since comic-buyers in general seem to be far more lenient and less intensive about the “monthly” fix. Just look at The Ultimates!
While I was talking to someone at Speeding Bullet Books and Comics in Norman, OK (plug for my comics-pusher/friend Matt Price), he said that because he liked the free #1 so much, he’s definitely going to pick up the trade and become a regular reader. Tell DC that the free #1’s were a grand idea.
P.S. I still think that the Fallen Angel is the ex-Supergirl. The clincher for me was the “You– Yes, me” gag.
