An Announcement from Peter

This weekend Peter is at the Motor City Comic Con and he is making THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT about the secret project that he has been working on for Marvel.
This will be revealed on Saturday at his Noon talk in Speaking Room #2.
I know what it is and have seen the art work. All I can say is that it knocked my socks off.

So go by and say Hi to Peter. On Saturday and Sunday ask to see the pictures of the kids. He will have some really cute ones.

  1. Which means that if I check the internet at Noon:01, I should have the long-awaited, breath-abated, eagerly anticipated… where was I going with this?

Must control desire to use time machine… again…

  2. Cool. I wish there were more conventions around my part of the country. That’s why there’s the internet, I suppose, because news always pops up quickly during these things.

  3. Cool. I always new it would be possible to cross the Three Blind Mice with Daredevil and make it work.

And they said I was mad!

  4. Not related, but I’ve seen no mention of the new Spy Boy comic that came out last week (best issue of Spy Boy yet, I thought…I’ve run hot and cold on the series, but that one was great)…Found a review PAD should read….

“One thing I always know when I go to a comic shop is that if it is written by Peter David, it will always be a good read. “

  5. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make it to the motor city convention, which I used to attend regularly, because of work. I’d like to, but since I don’t get paid when I take days off on the weekend, am taking a weekend off in june, and have bills to pay, I can’t really afford to take off an additional two days.

So, I will not be there when PAD announces that he’ll be writing the new, grim and gritty ALF 2099 series. Perhaps you’ve seen the tagline teasing the series: “Just when you thought it was safe to get a cat….”

  6. Very cool. Ill be at the Con on Sat, so Ill hopefully be lucky enough to catch what it is.

  7. My money is on the new and revamped Marvel Knight’s version of Angel Love. (Little known fact that Marvel secretly acquired the rights to this DC title in their attempt to bring out the grim and gritty potential of this character.)

    Fred

  8. My guess: Havoc, since it’s X-Men related and it’s a character he’s worked on before, in X-Factor.

Wait a minute. That was an actual serious guess. Must be something wrong with the irony filter on the site.

  9. Finally Marvel’s adaptation of “NATIONAL GUARD: The Untold Story” can be released…

…With special emphasis on George W’s heroic exploits while serving with his Alabama unit!

  10. Awright! It’s the Marvel/DC Obnoxio the Clown – Brother Power the Geek team up!

  11. “Nazi Werewolf Gorillas By Night”? Huzzah!

So go by and say Hi to Peter. On Saturday and Sunday ask to see the pictures of the kids. He will have some really cute ones.

But doesn’t he always … have … cute … kids?

Oh, wait — cute pictures. Got it.

    TWL
who’s a couple of thousand miles too far to make it to the con, alas

  12. Hmm… JMS has been promising to reveal *his* new project on May 15, and PAD has written for B5… could be, could be.

  13. Spoke with Peter for a few today, got to hear the wonderful story about child projectile vomiting in the rental car. Thanks for the great laugh!

  14. My guess is that with Peter’s experience in writing demons (see SOULSEARCHERS & COMPANY), that Marvel will license from Harvey the rights to do ULTIMATE HOT STUFF. It should be a devil of a good book. I can’t wait until the third or fourth arc in which it is finally revealed that Hot Stuff is truly the son of the Son Of Satan.

  15. Hmm… so is this the mutant book, or something else?

‘Cause if it’s the mutant book, my bet is on Quicksilver.

With a possibility of Multiple Man.

  16. Niccola-
I passed your thanks onto Caroline who looked at me with an impish grin.
    Kathleen

  17. I was going to say a Strong Guy series, but the JMS thing has the gears in my mind turning (which is always a scary thing:)
    JMS and PAD together again?
    That would be awesome.

  18. Heh, I don’t see how Straczynski’s B5 project could be connected to PAD’s Marvel project. That being said I’d love to see PAD and JMS doing something together, I kept hoping for Amazing Spidey / Captain Marvel crossover but that never happened.

  19. > Heh, I don’t see how Straczynski’s B5 project could be connected to PAD’s Marvel project.

Dang, that is a detail I overlooked. He did say it’s a Marvel project… and JMS’s announcement has been implied to be Babylon 5-related.

  20. Ultimate Ben Riley – the Wanderin’ And Stabbin People With My Hobo Knife Years

  21. I had considered not going to the con because of the expense of gasoline. I bought gas at $1.699 last week, but this week it is $2.169 just down the street from me. I don’t know how some people can still afford to drive a car.

But I guess I will spend the money and go on Sunday, as I must work on Saturday.

  22. “ULTIMATE Howard the Duck”?
“ALF 2099: Just when you thought it was safe to get a cat…”
LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL!, etc.
Jokingly, how about Marvel restarting the Star Comics Line, and Peter gets to do TOP DOG!
Although ideally, his talents would be better suited for a revival of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends.
Dreamingly, Peter returns to the Hulk as the regular writer, but in reality, Peter has already said he’s only doing a Hulk mini-series.
Guess it would be too much to hope for “Moondragon and Marlo: The Series”.
But IF it is something with Straczynski AT Marvel, what if Peter starts scripting Amazing Spider-man or Squadron Supreme over JMS’ plots?

  23. Kathleen, for those of us who won’t be able to be there, can you tell us how soon after the annoucement at the con will it be made here? I’d really like to know when to look forward to it.

Perhaps Peter can write it in advance, and then just post it quickly after he makes it at the con? Just a suggestion from a die-hard fan. 🙂

  24. Luigi-
Peter is suppose to call me before he goes to the convention today. I’ll ask him about it then.
We had an interesting use for cell phones this morning. Ariel had to get up at 4:30AM since today is her show choir’s trip to Six Flags. Caroline tends to be an early riser, but we didn’t want her rising that early. So I gave Ariel my cell phone. She put it next to her bed. Peter left a wake up call at the Hotel for 4:30AM. He phoned Ariel waking her up but letting the baby and me sleep until Caroline got up at 6:30AM.

  26. Geez, I would’ve thought people would be rushing out of the convention room to report this…

  27. Peter doesn’t want me to say anything at this point. He wants to put the art work up so you can see it and get a feel for the project. I am sure someone will post it here this evening. It just won’t be me.
    Kath

  28. I already know it, but I don’t want to ruin the moment for Peter. 🙂

  29. Kathleen: Luigi- Peter is suppose to call me before he goes to the convention today. I’ll ask him about it then.
Luigi Novi: Thank you very much for your speedy response, Kathleen. It is much appreciated.

Pascal: I already know it, but I don’t want to ruin the moment for Peter. 🙂
Luigi Novi: (grabs Pascal by the throat) Tell me! TELL ME!! Ðámņ you, we haf VAYS of making you TALK!!!!!!

    Just kidding.

  30. The suspense is getting to me too. There’s a thin chance it’s a Wolfsbane series and I’ve been hoping it is ever since I first heard about this project months ago.

  31. I’m eagerly waiting for the news too. I’ve never been a fan of the mutant characters but with PAD writing it will be worth checking out.

  32. I’m all for teasing, but saying “It’ll be revealed at noon today” and then saying “We’re not ready to tell anyone who wasn’t at the convention” is a tad much.

  33. Hi,
I went to Peter’s session today at the MCC and got to see the artwork and find out what the new mystery project is.
    I can’t recall, but can I share?
BTW, those who weren’t there missed a great session and a personal reading of Peter’s …But I Digress column that was shortened by CBG by Peter.

    Thanks,
    Brian

  34. Brian:

    Kath did just say above:

I am sure someone will post it here this evening. It just won’t be me.

  35. How sad it is that it’s 8PM Saturday and I can’t find a single comics news site that even mentions this weekend’s con, let alone any details from it. Ðámņ shame. I’m sure I’ll buy whatever the project is.

  37. And of course, by “ridiculous’ I mean that I would really like to know.

    Anyone?

    Bueller? Bueller?
