I didn’t see it at the LCS today.
They are serviced by Diamond-Memphis and frequently don’t get every book scheduled to be delivered for the current week. It’ll probably show up next week.
Nice story from the point of view of the crazy man. The monster never sees the monster in the mirror and is oftentimes puzzled by people’s reactions to their perfectly normal actions. I thought it was a very good story from the other side of the fence.
i’m looking forward to your original stories. hopefully you have the freedom to really turn these characters on their ear and upset the status quo of turtle tales. i don’t know much about the turtles but my curiosity is piqued (sp?). i love it when you take established characters and mess with the foundation. i’m gonna have to go and get a trade of the original series, i guess, just so’s i can gets the jokes. what was up with all the spelling and grammer errors in the letters page. (they need to have an editor for the editor responses cos it really makes you look bad if you professionally print something up and it’s riddles with mistakes.)
Haven’t gotten mine yet (my shop doesn’t get their new books out till late afternoon or early evening, and working the “graveyard shift” doesn’t allow me to stop by while the store’s still open). Having said that, I’m leaning towards discontinuing the series after #6. While the stories haven’t really intrigued me as much as I’d hoped, the *stories* have been well-done. The artwork, on the other hand, has been much more disappointing, but still workable (somewhat less like the Archie “animated” Turtle Adventures, and more like Eastman & Laird’s original work). The major drawback for me has been the coloring. It’s been just too muddy–just way too heavy with the browns, greens and grays (I’d almost think the original artwork was done in that B&W graytone style, and then colored over). I’ve been reading comics for way longer than I care to recall, and this is the first time I think I’ve ever thought about dropping a book because of the coloring (even the mid-80s “flexographic” mishaps weren’t this bad); I’ve dropped books due to atrocious stories or atrocious artwork and, of course, lagging finances, but because of poor coloring–no.
My dealer should carry shelf copies so I can check beyond #6, but without what I would consider an improvement in the coloring, I really doubt I’ll continue.
I wasn’t a big fan of the previous issues – as someone who has no access to the new TV show the books seemed a little confusing somehow (and I’m a huge fan of the original show); it’s like as if I’m expected to know certain things already. This issue has none of that, and is a lot more fun to read. The colouring could certainly do with some improvement, but I look forward to #5 and your original stories.
I have the book but I havent read it yet. So far I am pleased with the overall story lines. I do occassionally watch the cartoon on Saturday and you have mirrored the storyline thus far. How much free rein are they going to give you with this title are you going to be able to introduce villans other than Shredder?

As a person who was never a big fan of any of the previous incarnations of the turtles your doing your darndest to make me a fan of this one.
(not that I dislike the turtles, but for some reason they never caught me like they did a lot of my friends)
I originally started buying this book only because you wrote it PAD (you’ve never failed to entertain so far so…) but I’ve since added it to my pull list at the comic shop.
Casey Jones — what the Punisher would look like if Wal-Mart stopped selling guns…

God, I love this mini series so far!!!! I am a big turtle fan from back in the day!!!(you know Mirage, before the commercialization) Thanks for doing the turtles justice!
I liked the character. My only real exposure to Casey Jones was in the awful live-action movie; I don’t remember him from the animated show at all. In the movie he was a guy who, for some psychological reason, couldn’t fight unless he had some kind of sports equipment in his hand. Giving him a tragic background – and making him suddenly realize that he could sometimes be wrong – was genius. Frankly, this book makes more sense to me than anything in “Fallen Angel.”
My only question involves the circumstances under which this book is being released. Isn’t it in support of a new animated series and toy line? Are the licensors willing to accept this dark and compromised a character in what’s intended to be children’s entertainment? I wouldn’t mind it, even if I were a kid, but the suits at toy companies aren’t as forgiving or as smart as kids.
I liked it a lot. I haven’t seen any of the cartoon series, but I’m a devoted fan of the original Mirage series. The first film – which was the closest to the true feel of the book – was my fav. This issue of Casey meets Raph really did a good job of capturing that feeling from the movie. I’ve enjoyed the Dreamwave series, but really look forward to some new, original stories from you.
