Sorry. Kind of a crazy week. Anyway, XF #201 came out this week, plus, as always, other books.

Nothing bad to say about XF #201 so I will pass.
I’ve reveived the second and third volumes of PAD’s Supergirl, spanish version. #24-63 of the series plus the issues of Resurrection Man and Young Justice that cross overed.
The collection will end with the fourth volume, collecting all the run.
It’s fun to read where Fallen Angel began.
I picked up the latest KODT, which brings the players back to Muncie and the gaming tables. Hoody hoo!
Thanks to PAD’s NYC signing, I got the first issue of his IRON MAN adaption, which has some interesting changes to the movie.
And thanks to another thread here, I ordered the complete BARRY WEEN, BOY GENIUS collection through Amazon.com,
Loved it! Had a few questions though. Are Longshot and Shatterstar aware of their Father/son relationship? Is anyone else?
Also, apparently this month in all Marvel books there is an advertisement for FF #575 which shows an excavated Galactus corpse. This threw me for a second because before you turn the page, X-Factor is digging up a grave. Surprise! They found Galactus! Just kidding…:P
Second question I had is, isn’t this the kind of thing the Fantastic Four generally figure out by themselves? Reed is Ben’s Best friend, he tends to know when he’s not himself. (He recognized him immediately when he switched bodies with Doom.)
X-Factor #201 is the only new comic I bought this week. I was very much interested in how Shatterstar transports himself (and others). But I have to admit that it also made a few of questions pop up inside my head.
1. Echoing Mike T., it seems that Shatterstar is aware that he is “connected” in some way with Longshot. But does this mean that he knows that they are father and son?
2. Shatterstar mentioned that he needed another mind to serve as his “anchor”. So, how was he able to get back to the present time from where he had been traveling? It would probably be easy to say that Cortex “helped” in some way, but I don’t think there is any “connection” between them, certainly not the type of bond that was hinted at. I think that someone served as Shatterstar’s anchor in the future. A future version of Rictor perhaps?
3. Finally, on a rather silly note, were X-Factor drinking coffee/tea while waiting for Shatterstar to open the portal on the roof? It certainly looked like a tea kettle and stove that Monet crashed into.
Aaargh! I have to wait another month for the next issue. Waiting is such torture. T_T
I did the same thing that Mike T did regarding Galactus buried. I was all, “COOL!!!”.
I am liking Shatterstar. I’m liking Rictor even more. I LOVE Longshot’s current look- I can’t wait to see him interact with Shatty some more.
No offense to the current artist, but did anyone else read Joe the Barbarian #1? Can we get Sean Murphy as the next X-Factor artist when he’s finish with Barbarian? His stuff is amazing!
Kind of belated, but I finally picked up a copy of “More Digressions,” which I’m enjoying. I didn’t even know it had been released until recently, but I was happy to see it had. I really liked the first book.
.
Speaking of digressions… Peter, whatever happened to “Potato Moon”? Is it officially over?
It was a great week for people who liked data books. Picked up The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A-Z hadrover 12, covering T-V, and The Official index of the Marvel Universe#13 (both Iron Man and Uncanny X-Men got wrapped up with late 2009 issues, so the index started on War Machine and X-Men: The Hidden Years).
I also picked up the book THE SUPERGIRLS, a book about female superheroes. My full review is at http://thearmchaircritic.blogspot.com/ It was a decent book, despite some flaws.
Interesting review. I don’t know whether I want the book or not.
Um, thanks?
Well, like you said, the biases and lack of images seem kind of negative.
Didn’t get to the comic shop, but I did get to the book store to stock up on new manga.
One Piece vol. 24-28, Inuyasha 40 and 41, and Yu-Gi-Oh! R vol. 3.
Left the other new Inuyashas and Case Closed on the shelf because I need stuff the book store didn’t have in stock FIRST (Inuyasha 42, CC 32). BAH! I won’t buy books I can’t read immediately.
Also happily found the issue of Superman the Animated Series where he teamed with Batman Beyond. Awful artwork, stupid story, but an AWESOME two page BB splash panel depicting Terry with his gallery of enemies and allies.
I got Astro City Dark Age Book Four #1 and Hulk Visionaries Peter David Vol. 7.
Didn’t know about More Digressions.. I’ll see if I can get it at my comic shop. If not, I’ll try Borders.
PAD,
When is the next Fallen Angel story arc coming out? And how many such arcs do you anticipate will appear this year?
Rick
Thanks, PAD – I sorta like them when they’re belated.
.
I love reading these threads but try not to when they first appear. Stash Day is Friday in Oz, and then it takes the weekend to get through my stuff. Much as I enjoy reading the comments from others, I don’t want to do so before I’ve read my books myself.
.
The two biggies this week were X-Factor and Madame Xanadu. XF was a rollercoaster while MX was a thoughtful interlude. Highlights of the month.
.
The latest New Avengers is out but I’m behind on my pre-Siege stuff. (Behind on GL stuff, too.) The latest Thor was a bit of a disappointment – the Doom Destroyer was dispatched far too easily. This is a weapon that Odin built to take on the Celestials! I don’t think Thor has ever decisively stopped it! Yet it was all over by the staples….
.
Irredeemable is still engaging and entertaining, and I’m looking forward to reading Ultimate Enemy.
.
Cheers,
JB
I know I’m really late here, but I got delayed on my reading and I didn’t want to see what everyone said until after I read X-Factor #201.
Well, I finally got to go to town again Saturday. It’d been three weeks, but the weather kept getting in the way. I got X-Factor #201, but I guess you already figured that out. But the big surprise came when I went to the regular bookstore, and they had all those 99 cent comics again– five boxes of them this time! Most of them were garbage, or things I already had, or garbage I already had, but I did get Solo Avengers with part two of Moondragon’s resurrection. I read it years ago, but I was never able to buy until now since the comic book store doesn’t have any Solo Avengers.
I also got Infinity Gauntlet #1 and #2. I was stunned to see those there. I missed the series when it was new and I’ve always wondered what it was all about. I only wish now that I had some way to get the rest of it cheap. At least now I know how Adam Warlock came back to life.
Are there any plans to bring the letters page back in X-Factor?
