So there’s been this series on Starz now for a while calling itself “Torchwood.” And to Americans who weren’t previously familiar with the series, they might well have accepted it at face value. Me, I found it interesting enough and I kept coming back. But as week after week passed, I started to become increasingly discouraged because with the sidelining of the key Torchwood operatives of Gwen and–even worse–Jack, it was Torchwood in name only.

That’s changed over the past two weeks and it couldn’t have come soon enough.

Been out of town for the better part of a week and been off line for a bit. I’m out on the West Coast, having attended the recording session for another episode of “Young Justice” I’ve written. Caroline’s with me, giving Kathleen the time she needs to focus on various projects for Dragon*Con.

Tomorrow Caroline and I will likely be attending the D23 Expo. So if any of you are swinging by and see me, give us a wave.

Well, actually Middle School, not Elementary. Apparently “A Study in Scarlet”–the introduction to Sherlock Holmes–has been removed from a reading list in the Albermarle school district in Virginia because there were objections to the way Mormons were portrayed in it (since they were essentially depicted as a murdering, blackmailing cult).

In case you’re keeping score, Virginia was also the state that fought to the bitter end for the preservation of bans on interracial marriage. It’s also the home of Congressman Virgil Goode who sent around an email insisting that immigration laws had to be tightened up in order to make sure that Muslims didn’t flood into the US and wind up getting elected to high offices.

Perhaps Albermarle may want to consider publishing their own version, and every place in the story where the word “Mormon” is used, they can substitute “Black” or perhaps “Muslim.”

Reps for the National Organization of Women are protesting the Newsweek cover with Michele Bachmann describing her as the “Queen of Rage,” demanding to know who has ever designated a man as the King of Rage.

This is a valid question. Sting is the King of Pain. Ozzie is the King of Darkness. But the King of Rage crown is apparently available.

I hereby volunteer for the title. I wrote “The Incredible Hulk” longer than anyone else, and I get pìššëd øff really easily.
