Wow! Who would have thought that Belgians had this kind of rythm and coordination? (But seriously … Why? Was this part of some kind of advertisement in Europe?)
According to a comment on YouTube, it’s a promo for a stunt-casting reality show to select cast members for a new stage production in Belgium.
I’d assumed it was part of their response to Mr Mulligan’s proposed American annexation of their homeland… 😛

There was a T-Mobile advert that used similar imagery, see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vO8lLP4DP0w&fmt=18 which was at 11:00 am in Liverpool Street. (Apparently an earlier attempt at 8:30 am had to be cancelled when irate and humour-deficient City commuters responded by running amok and dismembering 76% of the dancers, which might actually make a more interesting fil clip…)

Definitely, as Mr Weber points out, very Fisher Kingesque, and the Food Court musical is just awesome.

Cheers.
A friend of mine showed me that last week. I love it so much.
Was anyone else reminded of The Fisher King?
My life was like that.
Before the medication.
(Stupid medication.)
I just logged on to the computer and your site, Peter, after getting home from seeing the touring company for “The Drowsy Chaperone.” So I was in just the right mood. Thank you.
Thanks, Mike, for the context.
The presumed spontaneity is truly amazing, although some of the things they do to the song are just frightful.
All I could think was that the Belgian news had reported that while security was distracted by Ms. Andrews’ high note, terrorists commandeered a subway train and are now terrorizing the rails……

I thought flash mobs had become passe.
Then there’s this:

Yes, I love this! I watch it every so often when the mood strikes me. I was going to post a link to it but you beat me to it.
Improv Everywhere is the best (even if it’s not actually “improv”).
That is fan-frickin-tastic. I love the people not in on it joining in along the way.
Absolutely marvelous. Got to go show this to my daughter now.
Is it just me or did anyone else have the follow-up thought, “and if real life were like Buffy, they’d have all burst into flames afterwards”?
Oh, is that where Charlie the Unicorn got it from?
I have a theory, it could be bunnies.
David,
Well, I think it *was* just you … but now that you mentioned it, it’s certainly stuck in my head.
So awesome. I was pretty bummed out, but this made me smile. Thanks for sharing this.
Very nice thanks Peter
That was cool, if this didn’t at the very least bring a smile to your face then there is probably little that would.
