Yeah, that’s a letter from me in the on-the-stands issue of “TV Guide” (the one with “How do rich TV people spend their money” on the cover.) I was outraged that the “TV Guide” list of the greatest TV dads omitted my personal TV dad guru, Gomez Addams, and shot off a letter to that effect. They printed it in its entirety at the top of the lettercol, so that’s nice placement. Didn’t really think they’d use it. Live and learn.

Could your post the letter here for those of us who don’t buy T.V. Guide? 🙂
I agree with aergern, living in the UK, getting hold of a copy of “TV Guide” would be difficult.
Thanks
I know this is off topic but I have to ask. Is this man Peter David?
Testing
Well that sucks. I cant post the pic here on the forums but the URL link does check it out. Its the cover of Aquaman 19 and I was just wondering if thats Peter David cause it sure looks alot like him. Just wondering.
Peter David: I am shocked that you omitted the incomparable Gomez Addams from The Addams Family. He’s openly passionate toward his wife, he’s home 24/7 for his kids, and he has the most kicking model-train collection. Granted, he kept colliding the trains, but that was doubtless to drive home the important lessons about transportation safety.
Luigi Novi: LOL!!!!!!
Well done, Peter! Me, the only letter I ever got printed in TV Guide was when I criticized the magazine for revealing Jadzia Dax’s death in Deep Space 9‘s sixth season finale, in an issue before that episode aired.
Then again, I guess we should count ourselves lucky. A mostly non-political magazine like TV Guide is probably the only magazine owned by Rupert Murdoch in which letters by you or I would ever see print anyway. 🙂
Bravo!
Never had a letter in TVG, but that probably has a lot to do with the fact that I never wrote ’em. 🙂 I did once get a note in the LA Times — they’d written an article about the cinematic technique of having someone take off his/her glasses and suddenly be seen in a whole new light (talking about teen movies in particular, I think), and I pointed out that for an article like that they really, really should’ve had a mention of Clark Kent…

Y’know, that explains a lot about your kids…..

I’d say it explains a lot about PAD too.
So do we add this to the official PAD bibliography?
PAD should have concluded his letter with “PS: buy Fallen Angel!”
If PAD doesn’t mind….

“The Addams Family” has always been one of my favorite shows. Much better than “The Munsters,” I feel. And if I couldn’t have had my dad for my dad, Gomez would’ve been my second choice. Of course, then there would be that whole oedipal complex problem….

I’ve managed to get one letter (to date) published by TV Guide too.
Mine was to correct them about an error in their quiz about super-hero cartoon voices.
They claimed Ted Knight did the voice of Aquaman. Although he did do a lot of voice work for FILMation (anyone remember them?), Marvin Milner was the actual voice of the Sea King.
Coincidence? I wonder…
A couple of years ago TV GUIDE ran an article on the JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS movie, and although they duly noted Josie’s comicbook origins, there wasn’t a word about Dan DeCarlo. I wrote them a note pointing out the oversight, and they printed it — but for some reason they changed my description of DeCarlo from “the artist who created the Josie character” to “the artist who frst drew the Josie character”. Legal áršë-covering, maybe?

Crosswords and TV Guide and Madness
Further madness: the TV Guide folks will doubtless get a lot of flack from people with too much time on their hands (yes, I’m aware of the irony) who object to the ordering of their list of the 50 Greatest TV Dads of All Time in this week’s issue…….
Pack – Thank you. The Canadian edition didn’t have that letter in it.
Only letter I ever had printed in our GUIDE was some years ago, adding my, er, voice(?) to the majority writing in to complain about the annoying and unwanted onscreen ‘branding logos’ the networks decided we couldn’t live without. Of course, the networks didn’t listen. So, now, my tv mostly sits turned off. Which has allowed me to reclaim a big part of my life. And that’s not a bad thing.
pack: If PAD doesn’t mind….
Luigi Novi: Well, if he does, I’d get the flack first, since I posted the letter a day before you. (Scroll up.) 🙂
