Freak Out Friday – April 19, 2019

There is obviously only one story regarding Trump dominating the news, and that is the Robert Mueller report. The report which Trump has repeatedly dismissed as a witch hunt even though dozens of people have been prosecuted and convicted because of it is finally available to be read. Or at least most of it is. Attorney General William Barr, redacted portions of it, ostensibly for security reasons.

The problem is that we all know Barr is Trump’s stooge. That’s been evident from the get-go, when Barr was trashing Mueller’s undertaking and declaring that Trump could not possibly be charged with any crimes: effectively saying he was above the law, which is naturally exactly what Trump wants to hear and believe.

I have ordered the Washington Post edition of the report from Amazon. I intend to read it cover to cover, something that Trump has not done and will never do, even as he lies about how it “exonerates” him. I will post about it in detail in a future Freak Out Friday. Perhaps Trump can read a summary on Wikileaks, the site he repeatedly obsessed about during the campaign before he recently declared that he knew nothing about it and it wasn’t his “thing.” (Thanks to Stormy Daniels, we already know way too much about his thing.)

Ðámņìņg pieces of the report are already surfacing. Whether it’s learning that Trump declared the launched investigation meant an end to his presidency and he was fûçkëd, or discovering that the only thing that prevented him from obstructing justice was the unwillingness of his subordinates to break the law, an incredibly disturbing picture of the Trump presidency is emerging.

Unfortunately it’s one we already know. There have been countless news stories about Trump, countless verifications of his incessant lies. He has lied over eight thousand times in his first two years, so what are a few hundred more designed to cover his tracks? There have been numerous books about him, including one by Bob Woodward that detailed many of the findings that Mueller came to independently.

The question is: what impact will the Mueller support have on Trumpies? Provided genuine, indisputable proof of Trump’s dishonesty, at his repeated attempts to impede justice, to cover his own ášš…will they come to the realization they’ve been had?

Of course not.

Just as any con man does, Trump has taken measures to make sure his idiots will blindly continue to follow him. His repeated claims of “fake news” have sunk in, even as the Mueller report firmly states that the charges aren’t true and that the news was reporting facts. Facts are passe. The truth is so 20th Century. 1984 is firmly here and we believe only what Big Brother tells us. Trump represents to them a world of white supremacy where the country is uninfected by annoying people with dark skin, or Muslims, or Jews, or women who want control over their bodies. A world where climate change does not exist. A world where they are at the top of the social ladder, even if they’re living in a trailer park with twenty bucks to their name, because the President is one of them and cares about them. It’s a fantasy world, but he’s sold them on it, because they’re so unhappy with the real world that it’s the only place they can find any satisfaction.

And unfortunately they have plenty of company. The Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation has released an incredibly alarming study. There is simply no disputing the fact that America is becoming stupider. Many Americans could not pass a simple citizenship test. Only one in five people surveyed could name all three branches of the government (although they could name the Three Stooges easily enough) and two in five couldn’t name a single one. Only slightly more than half knew the first ten amendments were called the Bill of Rights. A majority of Americans believe the US is a Christian nation despite the First Amendment specifying Congress shall make no law regarding religion…but that’s okay, because a third of Americans can’t actually name a single right assured by the same amendment.

I hate to say this, but Trump may be the perfect president right now. The United States is becoming a country of morons, and who better to reign over it?

  1. Sadly, a lot of it is willful ignorance. unfortunately, some of it is something akin to the boiled frog analogy. Over the last 40 years, there’s been a steady push to create an echo chamber, a bubble reality, for conservatives to retreat from reality into.
    .
The “heat” has been slowly turned up year by year on them. Things that even they would have seen as racist or false or extreme in 1990 they embrace as truth for 2020.
    .
The powers that be have spent the better part of four decades designing a voter base that was custom made to support a President Trump. It may not be quite what they actually intended, but it’s what they’ve made.
    .
For the life of me, I don’t see any way to fix the problem within the remainder of my lifetime.

    1. If you want to know how we got here, watch the documentary by Jan Senko, The Brainwashing of My Dad. It’s on Amazon Prime Video and other streaming services. It’s only 90 minutes. Watch it.

    2. Then you already know about the Powell Memorandum, how AM talk radio works almost exactly like actual traditional brainwashing (the title of the documentary isn’t hyperbole or metaphor — it’s very literal), etc.?

      1. Lewis F. Powell Jr. is a famous figure in my state, so, yeah, knew of his works and ideas and what was being built with them long before it was popularly known as the Powell Memorandum.
        .
The AM radio thing isn’t exactly a secret and I’ve mentioned it over the years in various places including here.
        .
There was also the building of conservative “news” outlets designed to counter the mainstream media and give “the other side of the story” on many matters. Of course, since they were giving the other side of the story where information and fact was concerned, it was largely a misinformation and lie factory.
        .
Then there’s the building up of Drudge as a “citizen journalist” when he was little more than a glorified copy and paste and link artist. But it allowed them to cite news stories from sources no one, even the early Rush Limbaugh audiences, would take seriously by calling the stories Drudge stories or Drudge headlines or etc.
        .
Then there’s been the slowly growing use of certain keywords and buzz phrases.
        .
The radicalization of groups like the NRA starting in the early 1970s.
        .
        Etc, etc, etc, etc…

  2. It was definitely a reflection of the Party when Trump won the Primaries. However, even by Official Count, Trump Lost the Popular vote by a couple million. Even if that’s a small fraction of the population, that ‘s a lot of people. And there is a substantial amount of us who won’t stand for this 1984 you speak of, although it is definitely real. As Noam Chomsky explains, (and this is a summary, not a direct quote). “Whatever actions one can take—whether it’s engaging in informed debate with family, friends, or coworkers, writing letters, making donations to activists and organizations, documenting injustice, or taking to the streets in protest or acts of civil disobedience—makes a difference. These are the small individual actions that, when practiced diligently and coordinated together in the thousands, make every powerful social movement possible.”

    1. It’s not quite accurate to say that Trump lost the popular vote by only two million (closer to three, when rounded to the nearest whole million). That’s how much Hillary won the popular vote by.

Remember that there were other candidates on the ballots in various states. When you add them up with Hillary’s, you see that Trump lost the popular vote by more like eleven million. That’s how many more American voters went to the polls (not counting those who stayed home) and cast votes for President / V.P. (actually for the Electors, but most voters don’t really realize that) and voted for someone other than Trump, than who voted for Trump.

This, mind you, despite the known Russian interference (as verified in the parts of the Mueller Report we’ve gotten to see) that was determined to install Trump in the White House (a Putin spokesman even threatened, before the election, that if Hillary won, Russia would go to nuclear war against us!). I’m not just talking about social media ads saying lies about Hillary (there was plenty of that).

I’m talking about fake ads purchased by known Russian accounts that were made to look like Hillary campaign ads (right down to illegally using her trademarked campaign logo, font, Pantone® colors, etc.). These particular ads were precision targeted to be seen only by less educated (mostly minority and inner-city) likely Hillary voters and Democratic-aligned citizens in just the targeted key swing and “blue firewall” and “Rust Belt” states, and to avoid being seen by the mainstream media, campaign officials, law enforcement, etc., as well as voters who were demonstrating more of an education and clear thinking in their social media comments, so that none of them would see these ads in time to warn the targeted voters.

It’d be one thing if these ads were just libeling Hillary, but they weren’t. They were, as I said, pretending to be from the Hillary campaign. And what did they say? They were falsely telling these voters that they could vote for Hillary online by TXT or hashtag! I can’t post images here, but clickest thou here for a FARK post of mine from last year on this subject.

You may remember how several key swing states that flipped for Trump had had a surprising number of voters go to the polls, vote for every down-ticket item (U.S. Rep, U.S. Senator [if applicable], State legislatures and Senators, County and local officials such as commissioners and sheriffs and mayors, ballot initiatives, etc.) yet left the President / V.P. slot blank! Why would someone make the effort to go to the polls and cast votes for everything else, yet not the President? And I’m not talking about writing in “Mickey Mouse” or “None of the Above” or some such. I mean completely blank! The numbers who did this were way more than enough to have flipped multiple States and likely given Hillary the Electoral win, had they voted for Hillary.

Could it be that many of those people left those slots blank because they thought that they already had voted for Hillary online, as those fraudulent Russian ads told them to do, but decided to go to the polls anyway and vote for the down-ticket stuff, but left the President slot blank so that they wouldn’t be “guilty” of “double voting fraud”? And that’s not even taking into account those who may have thought that they “voted” for Hillary online and then didn’t bother to go to the polls at all to vote for the down-ticket stuff, and so got counted in with the “voter apathy” crowd who didn’t vote at all!

These ads alone may well have cost Hillary the election.

      1. Dude….. you forgot to mention the aliens. You know, the aliens that made Killary.. I mean Hillary, break all those espionage act laws and sold her the bleach bit software and put millions in her and Bills bûllšhìŧ foundation after a dubious Uranium deal with the Russians. Here’s a thought….Maybe Hillary lost because she sucks šhìŧ. she is a large piece of crap that the American population wanted nowhere near the white House. I believe Bernie would have had a chance to beat him but oh my Hillary fixed that also. Read em and weep.

      2. No.
        .
Hillary Clinton didn’t break the law
        https://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-0330-mcmanus-clinton-email-prosecution-20160330-column.html
        .
Their “bogus” foundation has done more good than Trump’s, has been vetted and given high marks unlike Trump’s, and, oops, wasn’t shuttered for violating the law like Trump’s.
        .
You’re still going on about the uranium deal? Dear lord are you dense.
        .
Oh, look, he finishes it out with bûllšhìŧ Bernie Bro talking points. Wow, when you just gotta be a joke, go Pat.

      3. There you go again Jerry. For a cop you sure do look at things with huge blinders on boy, sure glad you’re a cop down there and not here. I will be sitting here when Hillary is finally brought to justice and all the useful idiots who tried so hard to get her in the White House are put in jail while you will be here on this page pontificating to the same 6 or 7 people with your Cliff Clavin wisdom and expertise all because you folks are butt hurt that Trump had the audacity to be elected president. Move on guys you are adults.

      4. Hey, everybody…
        .
The guy who is still regurgitating long debunked right wing falsehoods about Hillary and talking about how he’ll be right there when she’s finally brought to justice thinks we need to get over the guy in the White House now who is regularly committing acts ranging from unethical to illegal from his elected office right now.
        .
Oh, and he came here to tell us his thoughts but wants to somehow turn the idea of posting here into an insult to hurl and me (or all of us) here.
        .
If Trump supporters and Tea Party conservatives had 1/10 the brains they think they had, well, they still might not be bright enough to develop a functional sense of self awareness.

      5. Geez Jerry, are you breaking up with me? crap, you could at least let me down gently without all the name calling. I thought we had something better then that. You know I come here to gauge the liberal response to the bûllšhìŧ media reporting and to see, if in fact, the response you guys have is typical. I have to say, you guys don’t disappoint almost verbatim GOOD JOB BOYS and GIRLS (that’s for you Craig) The dog and pony show is over. I give Mueller maybe a month before he gets tossed under the bus. How dare he not find any evidence of collusion. Lets have a little office pool….What do you think Hillary will excel at while in prison? Wallet construction? basket weaving? maybe she will help the other inmates with bûllšhìŧ, illegal foundation creation, its something her and Billary are experts at. As my favorite preacher is famous for quoting, please allow my slight change. “Hilllary’s chickens have come home to roost” oh, oh I forgot, be sure to have a front row seat when former Obama administration folk (Loretta Lynch, Eric Holder and gang)are testifying, its sure to be good television.

      6. No, Tom, let them squawk. Give them the rope they need to look monumentally stupid and hang themselves. The more they squawk in support of Trump, the more they prove in the most definitive ways that they never actually gave a šhìŧ about all the things they spent year lying about believing in.
        .
        Family values?
        The decorum of the office?
        Fiscal responsibility?
        The debt and the deficit?
        Law and order?
        The Constitution?
        Civil rights?
        Our allies around the world?
Opposing things like white nationalism and white supremacy?
        Corruption in politics?
        .
Let them squawk. Let them prove through their own words and actions that they never cared about any of that or anything else beyond their side getting power.
        .
Much more effective way to dismiss their stupidity when they suddenly want to pretend these things matter to them once Trump is gone and there’s an election coming up.
        .
Should probably make a t-shirt when the occasion comes to do so.
        .
        “You Supported Trump”
        .
“You Can Sit the Fûçk Down and Shut the Fûçk Up Now”

  3. You forgot that he also offered firefighting advice to France that, if followed, would have completely annihilated Notre Dame.

  4. Seatbelts on boys and girls! We just got ten years of Trump tax returns and BOY, they’re exactly what we expected. Fake billionaire, bad businessman, nothing but hot air.
