My Schedule for NYCC

It is with a certain degree of weary resignation that I post my schedule for New York Comic Con. Why? Because I’m putting it up on my website…and cross posting to Twitter…and Facebook…and I could take out full page ads in all three major NY newspapers and buy commercial time on the debut of “Arrow” and I know the most repeated refrain I’m going to hear from my fans is, “I looked ALL OVER and couldn’t find Peter David ANYwhere.” Yeah, that’s me; I’m the dámņëd Shadow.

My table is at Artist’s Alley, over in the North Plaza, table BB1. That is for the most part where I will be when I’m not on panels. I will not be attending Thursday. Friday morning I will be in meetings and not available.

Friday
12:15 – 1:15: Marvel Now! All New X-Men – 1E07
2-3 PM: Marvel booth signing
3 – 4 Marvel Prose novels panel – 1A21

Saturday
3-4 Stan Lee’s World of Heroes – 1E13
4-5 Marvel booth signing

Sunday
11-12: Marvel booth signing

  1. “Marvel prose novels”? There’s a new round of those coming out to look forward to, with you writing at least one of them? Details, please!

  2. Weary resignation? Is it possible that’s how you feel about such events (conventions) subconsciously? Just wondering.

    1. Nooo, you misunderstood. I thought I was clear. The resignation comes from knowing that no matter how much I advertise where and when I’m going to be, I’m going to see complaints about how people couldn’t find me, and so there’s a certain amount of futility in trying to advertise it.

  3. Nimble the Thief: [shocked] The Shadow?
    Ambrose: [scared] The Shadow?
Newmoon the Elf: [resolved] The Shadow.
–from THE GAMERS (the 2003 one (a.k.a. the good one))

  4. Boy, my timing is good. I had just started printing out my finally-completed “who to photograph” event schedule for the con when I swung over your blog and saw this entry, Peter. I managed to stop the printer with only the final page having been printed before going over your schedule to see if I missed anything. Your two Marvel booth signings weren’t in my schedule so I added them before finishing the printout.

    Yeah, paper and ink conservation!

  5. This is actually funny. When I went to NYCC a couple (maybe three?) years ago on saturday I went to Peter’s table to get my copy of “Writing for comics…” signed and he was GONE with only his wife and child sitting at the table. I did get an original piece of the kiddo’s art and, if I had thought of it at the time, I would have gotten his wife to write a short message in the book so that if I was ever able to get Peter to sign it he could have had a laugh at the note. Its a great book and I read it a few times while doing my time in Iraq.

    1. First of all, thank you for your service. Second, I’m sure I was either at a panel or at a meeting. (If my daughter was there, I sure wasn’t walking the dealer’s room.)

      1. Thanks Pad. I think your wife told me you had to to be at ‘something away from the center’ (bad memory there) that was keeping you out for the day but that you would be back on Sunday but I couldn’t make the second day trip to NY. She was knitting (I believe…lol) and we had a great conversation about you and how my wife always wanted to slap you silly at the end of each of the New Frontier books… It was a great time plus we have already spoken once through the internet when I had asked you about the David Peter ‘Psi Man’ Novels. One day I will catch you ‘in the wild’ and hope to shake your hand and say howdy!

  6. I’ll stop by your table and as usual for me, miss you every time and say hi to your wife or daughter who will be sitting there in your stead.:-D

  7. If there’s any news regarding the marvel novels, is there any chance you could post it here? I’m always looking for new comic based prose to enjoy.

      1. No. No, I did NOT. I heard NOTHING about it. Ðámņìŧ, now I need to start saving money and tracking it down.

      2. Don’t feel badly, Aaron. I checked on Amazon: the sales ranking is for crap and there are no customer reviews, so I suspect there are plenty of people who are likewise unaware of its existence.

      3. No no… I haven’t heard about ANY comic prose in MONTHS. I wasn’t even aware that the Civil War novelization had gone out. It’s incredibly aggravating to be entirely out of the loop on something I enjoy tremendously.

  8. Saw the news reports from the X-Men panel. Looking forward to this week’s X-Factor #245 and the upcoming “Hëll on Earth War.”

  9. Just a nice lil tidbit; I was at the Robert Kirkman panel on Sunday and inevitably one of the questions from the Q&A came up from a fan with aspirations to be a writer. He basically asked Robert how he perserved in his early days, when it looked like he might not take off as a writer.

And Robert specifically singled out the PAD/Keown Hulk run as being the one that inspired him and made him want to write comics. So congrats PAD without you there may never have been a Walking Dead comic/show. Maybe you should demand royalities…
