Exhausting as Dragon*Con typically is, but a good time was had by all. We drove back from Atlanta and it took about fifteen hours. Good to be back.
Had a great time, I have to say. Highlights included our barbecue gathering on Sunday night where we had a small group of friends up to our room to feast on ribs and chicken from Fat Matt’s Rib Shack, the best barbecue in Atlanta. And, of course, winning the Julie Award at the banquet, where–as MC–I also got to introduce the guests of honor including Lou Gossett, Jr. So that was cool. Had a pretty steady stream of fans at my Artists Alley table. Kath had great success at her various panels as well. Ariel had fun at the panels she attended, while Caroline loved going to child care.
Overall a very successful convention from the David point of view.

My first chance to say
FIRST!
on your board, so I figure I should ask something rather than just blurt it out.
What is it like to (seemingly) always be working? Even your trips out of town seem to be working trips. Do your vacations ever really seem like vacations?
While at SDCC a couple of months ago, Margaret Weis asked if I was going to GenCon or Dragon*Con this year. I told her perhaps both next year.
She told me she thought SDCC and GenCon are work, but Dragon*Con is play. 🙂
It was really great having the chance to talk with you too. Thanks.
I always have a blast at Dragon Con, but it is an exhausting show. My artist alley table was in the Hilton, but panels, readings, and signings had me bouncing around all 3 hotels the entire weekend. It’s certainly one of the highlights of my convention year.

The convention sounds like a lot of fun. Voltaire, a goth musician I like always plays there! He’s hilarious!
So, did you have any discussion about this new series you have coming from Dark Horse, “The Scream”? Does this mean you aren’t exclusive with Marvel anymore? What books are you on now? (X-Factor, She-Hulk, Fallen Angel, The Scream…no more Marvel Adv: Spidey?)
Thanks!
Well, you told me I should stop lurking and start commenting, so here I am. I am pleased that I got to see you in Artist’s Alley, but sadly I couldn’t stay in Atlanta until 1600 to see you Monday afternoon. Hopefully next year scheduling will be different and I can make it to your panel. *g*
Dragon*Con is always fun! Even the crazy crowds this year couldn’t take away my enjoyment.
It’s doubtful you’ll remember me but I was the one wearing the dry erase board. It might have to make an appearance again next year. (I think I’ll have to be “Hush” Willow for Halloween.)
Peter,
Just wanted to say that you were a highlight for me at my first Dragon Con. You are always entertaining and I truly enjoy your work. After your reading of the first chapter of your upcoming book I can hardly wait to read the rest! Lots of great stuff to look forward to! Best wishes!

Sure I remember you. Weren’t a lot of people wearing dry erase boards around their necks. Of course, if you REALLY want to be memorable, go as the Vamp Willow. Or you could combine them and go as Vamp Hush Willow with the leather costume and wearing an erase board that says, “Bored now.”
