BWUH!? Why does everyone what Layla dead? Okay, she knows stuff–knowledge is power. In this case, I can see that. What I can’t figure is why she’d introduce the pregnancy test to Layla just to hide it again. Why hide it at all? Unless Huber intends to take the child.
So, Rahne is becoming more impulsive, more wolfish when she is near Rictor. Very likely to do with the newly grown terrigen crystals. He’s become something like Pietro was. However, the crystals appear to be growing from his back instead of stabbed into the flesh like Pietro. Rictor’s status as a ‘siphon’ has refined the process after all?
Huber’s idea for using the EPA was interesting on first read. On the second, though, I had alarm bells going off in my head. I occurred to me that getting mutants declared an endangered species could be a horrible trap. If mutants are legally declared to be a different species than humanity, wouldn’t that indicate that they had no human rights? That they’d be the legal equivalent of a cat or chimp? Okay, a snail darter or a spotted owl, but you get the picture.
PAD did warn things were going to get dark. I liked it. Not as a permanent thing, but occasionally remind us of how serious a business they’re in. Be interesting to see what getting taken out so easily will do to Monet.
Did I miss a thread on the latest FALLEN ANGEL (#18)?
X-factor:
Looks like a good issue. The Isolationist is setting his plan into motion and tries to get rid of Layla with Nicole.
Thinking about the Isolationist strong telepathic powers i wonder if he was reading Laylas mind all the time so he knew what she knew and told it to Nicole, so she could change things in a way that Layla doesn’t knows it.
However this on the other hand would mean that Laylas knowledge about stuff is static and doesn’t change depending on actions which changed the course of time.
This would explain why Layla was unable to know what Quicksilver actions would do, since his knowledge change everytime he sliped through time.
However on the other hand she recently, in the X-Cell arc, was able to know what Quicksilver would do… okay i confused my self now.
Who cares Layla rocks, i hope she gets back on Nicole for doing that.
Anyway was a solid issue. I wonder if the anti-mutant twins will still play a role in this arc or if they where just an McGuffin for M and Siryn to get captured?
Rictor and Rahne really make kind of nice pairing.
What i wonder is how those mist crystals got on Rictors back? Well i have three theorys all however include that i think they don’t give him powers:
1. Layla put them on his back to prevent him from dying.
2. They where created through the mist that was still in Rictors body.
3. He fell on a few of the shot out crystals.
Guido really needs to work on his humor.
Well i think that was all i could think of.
Sorry for making this so long. Keep up the good work PAD!
I know this came out last week but Fallen Angel #18 is one of the funniest comics I have ever read. Lee’s comments on Shi’s clothes and attitude were priceless.
Just picked up “Darkness of Light” and really digging that too. I think you may want to consider putting a character list in the novel though since there are so many and at times I have to stop to remember who is who and who is what (although that might change as I get deeper into the book. I’m only 128 pages in).
X-Factor is fraking awesome!
‘Nuff said.
Huber reminds me of gamesmaster. Did we ever get to see the gamesmaster in anything other than astral form? Can the two be the same?
It’ll be interesting to see what Rictor’s crystals will end up doing ..
And for some reason i think we might see Layla grow up faster than anticipated .. Rahne’s wolf side getting stronger and some of the crossover preview panels make me suspect so ..
Not sure if we’re allowed to throw around theories with regards to the crossover here .. ?
Also not sure if we can discuss x-factor previews .. ?
When will we see Fallen Angel TPB volume 3 from DC Comics?
X-Factor was another nice issue.
But I was a bit confused how M could be ambushed. Shouldn’t she spot someone is near as a telepath?
I guess no-one will believe that Layla’s really dead, but I hope her surviving gets a better explanation than just “she was lucky and didn’t drown.”
Or maybe she really dies but an older self returns from the future to change history?
Since it’s pretty obvious that we will get a time-travel story soon that will solve what Rahne really does at Layla’s and Maddrox marriage.
I just hope when Layla’s power gets finally explained it will not be an older self telling her from the future. I liked the idea that she is just an agent of a bigger conspiracy and gets orders, instead of working all alone… but her Atlas comparisons seem to suggest that I guess.
Dark Tower? The only comment is MORE PLEASE. How many series will you be doing?
Hello Peter,
I just wanted to let you know that your work with Dale Keown on the Hulk/Pantheon-thingie was one of the defining comic reading experiences for me. And now as i have in a way started reviving my hobby, I wanted to start by reading your works. Thought you’d appreciate it. Keep up the par excellence writing thing you’ve got going on.
and thanks for the informative site.

Just want to say that I’m loving the holy hëll out of X-Factor! Layla Miller’s actually one of my favorite characters but it was a nice surprise to see her get blindsided. I’m curious how they pulled that off. I’m hopeful that we’ll see more of Layla and Jamie interacting because the dynamic between them amuses the heck out of me.
Fallen Angel was one of several books that showed up on my store’s invoice but didn’t actually ship (so they got charged for comics they didn’t get, whee).
Hello! I’m new here. I’ve read X-factor 22 and I think that Rahne is the one that is pregnant and if so, would her baby be the one that is at the center of the new x-crossover Messiah Complex, from what I’ve read that crossover is going to kick start with the birth of a new mutant baby, and with talks of somebody being pregnant at X-factor I don’t think is coincidence. What you guys think?
Andy, I think that sentence is so tortured, it must have spent the last six months at Guantanamo.
Also, if the mutant baby in Messiah Complex is the little in utero fella/fellaette in X-Factor, that would require something on the order of an eight-month gap in all the X-Books between now and November. Which is not to say it couldn’t happen.
Oh, and Pro, I seem to remember the Gamesmaster being revealed as a little kid somewhere (I think in Loeb’s X-Force, but don’t hold me to that).
“Andy, I think that sentence is so tortured, it must have spent the last six months at Guantanamo.”
Nice. The guy’s new here and the first thing you do is bìŧçh-šláp his sentence structure. Way to encourage him to return.
Andy…interesting speculation. You may be on to something.

Off topic, but of interest to us all:
Mike Wieringo passed away yesterday.

A sad, sad loss. My thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

You know, Michael, not everyone speaks English as a first language. Give the guy a break.
Andy, I understood what you said easily. Welcome to the boards!
THE BOOKS:
Fallen Angel
I didn’t like the inequality in the verbal sparring between Shi and Lee. Lee seemed to get the best of Shi in all or most of their exchanges, IIRC. Shi’s authority as a strong character in her own right should not be undermined in this manner.
X-Factor
I’m liking the devleopments, as usual. Using the E.S.A. is a nice twist. And I LOVED the rendering of the Central Park scenes, Peter. My hats off to Pablo and Brian. The insertion of that beautifully-colored pattern into the tree leaves was perfect.
Dark Tower
I was a bit surprised at what seemed to me to be an abrupt ending, but I’m wondering if this was my ignorance of the character’s pre-determined backstories at work. Beautiful artwork, as usual. Jae rocks.
I thought Fallen Angel was one of the most beautiful books out in a long time. Last months was creative and this one was just beautiful.
X-Factor is the best X-book being published. The only X-book that didn’t just gloss over House of M.
Sad to see PAD leave the Spider-Man title, but happy to see him take up She-Hulk. Runaways would have been a good fit also
Andy, I was thinking the exact same thing.
If those are Terrigen crystal fragments in Rictor’s back, why wasn’t Rahne physically harmed by having sex with Rictor, the way she was when Pietro touched her? Is it because of Rictor’s former connection with the Earth and/or the fact that Rictor isn’t a lunatic?
May I assume that Monet was successfully ambushed because she was far too angry about Siryn being shot to pay attention to her surroundings? Was that what Clay and Solo planned?
Why no mention of what the Xavier Institute has become?
The end of #22 took me by surprise. Oh, my!
What took you so long to write a decent book after the hulk run? anyway, I have been reading X – Factor, from issue one. So far the stories are okay but is slowly slowly getting more interesting, I just hope the characters remain interesting and not just fight everyone in every issue. I certainly love the dialogue and what is happening to Multi man, very nice touch to this character.
Please keep up the good work.
