PEDAL TO THE MEDAL

Boy, my dance card is full for the next few months.

I’m working hëll bent for leather to finish the first novel in the “Hidden Earth” series for Tor, because over the next few months I have the FF movie adaptation, plus a major new film project that I’ll announce as soon as the contracts are finalized (although word of it has been leaked elsewhere.)

I’ll still be posting on my blog, and will try to respond to as many postings as I can, but understand if questions or such get overlooked. When the crunch is over, I’ll do a brand new Q&A thread so I can respond to questions folks might have.

  1. a major new film project that I’ll announce as soon as the contracts are finalized (although word of it has been leaked elsewhere.)

    Tease!

  2. It’s Sir Apropos of Nothing, isn’t it??!! Or is it Knight Life? MAN, I can’t wait to find out!!

Peter do you have any rough estimate on when those contracts will be finalized?

But in any case, GOOD LUCK!!!!

  3. For the record, when I saw the mention of a new project and the finalization of contracts, then the “leaked elsewhere” note, I mentally flashed to a certain newsgroup that has been waiting for an “Eep” for months…

So, that’s my hope. Theoretically that project has a writer already, but PAD’s worked there before (to rousing success) both writing and adapting already.

  4. Busy? Good, very good…..and I’m sure we can get word one way or another as PAD pounds the keyboard….

  5. well if its been leaked elsewhere you might as well just tell us right now, eh? Cat’s out of the bag and all that…

…I wonder if this’ll actually work?

  6. The rumors I’ve heard:

Peter David as Marryin’ Sam in the new Disney version of “Li’l Abner,” starring Tom Welling.

Peter David as Sam Byck in the new Disney version of “Stephen Sondheim’s Assassins,” starring George Straight as John Wilkes Booth.

Peter David as Popeye Doyle in the new Disney version of “The French Connection,” with Antonio Banderas as Frog One.

  7. I remember you mentioning a deal for ‘Howling Mad’ a while back. If thats not the movie you’re talking about here, whats the status on that?

  8. The answer to this can certainly wait until the next Q&A thread, but I’m curious to know how you plan your time based on the work you’re doing.

( Do you have a boilerplate “It’ll take me four weeks to do a movie adaptation” …etc. set of estimates so that your plate doesn’t get too full? )

So did I, but I think that the project you have in mind’s writer/creator has acknowledged that he’s been working on the script for some time now.

Not that it wouldn’t be fabulous to have PAD contribute…

  10. Also Sprach Jeff Lawson:

I know, I know…wishful thinking in the first degree. Guilty, yerronor.

  11. I look forward to the next Q&A session. I will plan my one (1) question wisely in the interim. 😀

  12. Good for you, PAD. It’s good to know you’re overwhelmed with work and projects. It’s always better to have too much on your plate than not enough when you’re a writer, right?
(I knew there was a reason we were getting so many “But I Digress” columns lately:)
    Again, kudos
    As for the movie,
it’s not “Truth and Other Lies”, is it?
