Desperately Seeking Sherman

To be specific, Josepha Sherman, a Connecticut-based writer, hasn’t been heard from in some months and various friends are becoming concerned. Her e-mailbox is overflowing and bouncing back mail, no phone numbers for her work, and she hasn’t posted on her Facebook page since last October. If anyone has direct contact with her, please have her check in with me or any of her other friends immediately.

Thanks.

      1. The only thing I can think of is a Health & Welfare Check call to the local police. Or the local public library…

      2. This is not a situation where we can say to the police, “Go to this address and make sure she’s still alive.” If it were that easy, we would have done it. We don’t know where the hëll she is.

      3. My apologies – I just was thinking in terms of confirming that she *ISN’T* there.

      4. Though I’m sure this avenue may have already been traveled, has anyone checked with various con committee persons who may have newer phone numbers for her?

    1. As Janna noted, trust me: all the obvious answers have been pursued. This is the cyber equivalent of putting her face on a milk carton.

  1. I’ll put a paraphrase of this as my FB status. We have many friends in common, not all of whom may read here or on the M list. I hope we can find out what’s going on.

  2. The problem is that, last we heard, she was having to move. We’re unsure where she went, and the contact information she provided for someone acting in her name seems to not be working.

  3. PAD,

I doubt it will do much good, but, on the off chance that it does, I sent her a friend request via Facebook with a message to contact you or other friends.

I sure others have tried something similar, but another voice couldn’t hurt.

I hope all is well and I’ll continue to do some digging online, though I likely won’t turn up much if anything.

  4. Just to follow up on Mitch’s post, you don’t have to be a friend on Facebook to send somebody a message through Facebook; just go on their page and send it. Although you guys have probably already done that.

  5. PAD,

I am sorry you are going through this. Have you tried to see if she has any family in CT? Mother, Father, Siblings, Children etc.. I am sure you have I thought maybe a fresh perspective might work. Also, if she has family maybe they can file (or allready have) a missing persons report. Will keep you guys in my thoughts.

  6. Peter, I’ve mentioned this to Toni Weisskopf, and she remembers a phone call some months ago. I’ve told her to contact you here. I’m as worried as you are, brother of mine.

  7. I have met Josepha Sherman. She stopped into my office on 5/13. She just stops in every so often to say hi, for no seemingly good reason, except to say that she has been cleaning the beach!!! I thought she was a bit “slow” but very sweet, so on each of her visits I spend a little time with her. The other day she mentioned that she was tired of living in CT because it was not lively like NYC and, that soon, she would be moving back to New York. She also mentioned that she was an author… which definitely surprised me because her speach seems stilted and she often repeats herself. Luckily I asked her what her name was. My curiosity brought me to google her tonight. I am astounded at the information! Because some of the entries have her picture, I know the woman who comes into my office is Josepha Sherman. I was really shocked to find that so many people are looking for her. Unfortunately, I did not ask her for her phone number or address, but I believe she must live nearby. If anyone would like to contact me, my phone number is 203-877-2363. If I am not in, I will always return calls.
