Stash Wednesday Special Edition

Haven’t done one of these in a while, but I wanted to give you a heads up that, aside from X-Factor #210 being out, there’s also a “Ghostbusters” Halloween one shot that was co-written by myself and Kathleen (although for some reason her name wasn’t listed on the credits.)

  1. Great issue, as always. This arc of X-Factor has been knocking it out of the park from the get-go.

I’m a little confused by one thing, though. Is Rictor identifying himself as gay now, based on his response to Rahne….or just not wanting to go into the complication of trying to explain that he’s bisexual?

This storyline has been fascinating if your handling of sexuality, so I’d hate to see such a great (and realistic) Bisexual character fall into the usual trap of “just” being gay.

  2. Loving the preggers Rahne story as well. and from what you said at NYCC about the “condition” under which Marvel gave you Rahne to play with again (I won’t spoiler by repeating it myself) I can guess why baby is protected.

I somewhat agree with Harostar in being a bit confused as to wether Rictor would now consider himself gay or bi. Maybe Rictor isn’t sure himself?

I think Bi would be interesting because it dosn’t seem to happy very often in ficton – usually once someone “changes teams” they tend to stay not to chnge back or play both sides.

But maybe 3 issues into the storyline is a little early to start speculating.

oh – btw – is the baby registry at Macy’s or Petco?

    1. other books this week were New Mutants 18 (would love to see Rahne & her original team get a chance to hang, btw, if you can swing that Peter) Batman & Robin 15 (Morrison is weird and even off-putting sometimes but I’m LOVING Ðìçk Grayson as the Bat) Brightest Day 12, Legion of Super Heros 6 (so happy to have Levitz back with the original Earth 1 Legion) and Guarding the Globe 2 (a fun book so far).

  3. Which company published the Ghostbusters ish, Peter?
    .
Also, does this mean you’re no longer exclusive with Marvel?

  4. Another great issue, although I have to confess I was confused by the bit with the brainwashed woman. Googling failed, so I take it she’s a new villain? Yes, I was confused by the introduction of a new character in a comi

    1. Yeah, unless the name given to her is a continuity implant (like Wolverine “used to be” any number of other codenames before he was Wolverine), she’s new. Given that personality implants used to control dangerous people are a well-developed technology in the Marvel U (heck, the development costs just on Wolverine would probably make GlaxoSmithCline blanch), it’s probably surprising that we don’t see more Total Recalls like this.

  5. Don’t know how I missed the Ghostbusters issue but I’ll call the shop this afternoon and put it in my folder for pickup tomorrow.

  6. Another solid issue of X-Factor. One question: Is there any way we will ever see the younger version of Layla Miller back, either through flashback or another one-shot?

  7. PAD on Ghostbusters! That’s like combining cookies and milk, 2 awesome things that just were born to go together. I can’t wait to read your take on Venkman.

  8. This was also a good week for KNIGHTS OF THE DINNER TABLE. Apart from KODT #167 coming out, there was the first of this year’s BLACK HANDS specials. Hoody hoo!

  9. Know this thread is a little old, but I thought I’d take a break from the partisan debate taking place, since I found out something involving comics that I feel will be of interest to most everyone here who supports free speech.
Bluewater publisher Darren Davis was supposed to talk at a local school near where he lives but found out he was canceled. Why? because of the “nature” of the books he was going to talk about:
    1) “Atlas” was banned – because it deals with gods.
    2) “Violet Rose” was banned because it has a ghost as a minor character
3)” Bo Obama” was banned because them deemed it political.
4)”Tom Corbett’ was banned because it had a gun on the cover
    5) The one that gets me is that the “SE Hinton – the Puppy Sister” was banned because the dog transforms into a person.
This is a public school in Washington state. To me, this is a dámņ shame. i don’t consider it conservative or liberal thinking – I consider it an insane form of censorship. Absolutely insane. Heaven forbid kids read comics.

    1. .
      “Bo Obama”
      .
We’re talking about the one about the first dog here, right?
      .
As for the rest of the list…
      .
      Sheesh…

  10. Yeah, a book about the First Dog – aimed specifically for children – was deemed “political”. It’s really insane.

  11. Yes, Bill. they truly are. We need to get kids reading in general and comics have proven time and time again that they can help with that.
