You can purchase Harlan’s first typewriter. It still works.
More information about it can be found here.
I felt as many people as possible should know about this. Feel free to spread the word.
I hope someone around here acquires it. That would be cool.

Heck… that typewriter should be in the Smithsonian!
Smithsonian, hëll! It belongs in Warehouse 13′
Ðámņ — you beat me to it. I was thinking the same thing, that it’s an Artifact and that the guys from Warehouse 13 should buy it for an episode.
But does it come with the fornits?
.
(Yes, I know that was a King story. I made the reference anyway, because it amused me.)
Replace “fornits” with “formz.” Bam! It’s an Ellison story. 🙂
I didn’t realize Harlan’s sister had died.
.
I’m not sure if it’s appropriate to offer condolences to Harlan (given that Harlan and Beverly weren’t exactly fond of each other and hadn’t spoken for thirty years), but I’ll offer them anyway.
Beverly did leave a husband and two children behind and Harlan thinks highly of both of them so I’d convey my condolences to them personally.
I’m sorry, I meant that Harlan respected her husband and thought highly of both of their children.
It’s more likely to be snapped up by some rich chap who collects typewriters. I’m looking at Tom Hanks, personally.
“An open sale… Harlan Ellison and his first typewriter”?
How much for Harlan without the typewriter?
I’m surprised you’re not buying it, PAD. I should think you’d be the heir apparent.
