People are Asking About Dragon*Con

For the past ten years, the TrekTrack at Dragon*Con has had, as its last panel, a solo hour with me. I was dubious about the proposition initially, but it’s become something of a tradition and I usually have a packed house. Apparently a number of people have gotten used to finishing out the convention with that hour. So imagine their surprise when the schedule was posted this year and it was gone.

Wasn’t my idea. Someone new was put in charge of the programming. I got the schedule a few weeks ago and fired off an email pointing out the omission. I never received a response. And now the schedule is up, and people are inquiring of both me and Kathleen what the hëll happened.

Well, I’m the wrong person to ask. Apparently the person you should be asking is Dave Gordon. He wasn’t responsible for the omission, but he’s the person to address. Be nice; be polite; remember, it wasn’t his call. He can be reached at:

fantrackops@dragoncon.org

Meanwhile, what took the place of the hour with me? A generic hour in which fans are supposed to discuss what went right and wrong with Trek programming. Yeah; I wonder how that’s gonna go?

Well, hopefully it will be addressed by next year. It was a fun little end cap for the weekend.

Ever watch World Wrestling Entertainment programming?

  2. Aww, I’ve really enjoyed your panel the last two years and made sure my flight was late enough to stay for it. Any possibility of doing it unofficially? 10th floor marriott or some other non-reserved space?

  3. Always wanted to get to this panel, but we always need to check out and hit the road Monday morning. I notice the Trek schedule is a little weak this year, but hopefully Garrett will be able to do more in the future.

  4. Email sent. I missed this panel the last two years because I was flying back home on Monday, but this year I decided to take an extra day off so I could stay for Monday panels, particularly this one. I figured it was just my luck this was the year they changed it.

Last I heard, the new Trek Track director is Garrett “Harry Kim” Wang. Maybe nobody told him about this panel.

  5. My friends and I were also super bummed to see your panel missing since we’ve come to view it as a serious con event. Definitely going to email about it being added back for next year.

  6. The panel will be sorely missed this year. I am looking forward to seeing you at the Star Trek vs Doctor Who panel.

Any chance you can post your schedule here?

  7. What was the name of the guy that has run the Trek Trak all these years?

I do remember that he is also the MC for the “Klingon Beauty Pagent”, and that’s always fun to attend 🙂

I wonder why he’s not over it this year? (his personal choice, or DragonCon ‘politics’ of some sort)?
