Did You Notice Who Else is in the “Thor” movie?

J. Michael Straczynski will have a cameo role in the film (presuming, of course, that his part doesn’t wind up on the cutting room floor or in the DVD extras.) He plays one of the local townies who finds the landed hammer (in a crater, as per his story) and, along with some cronies, endeavors to pick the thing up.

  1. I’m sure they’ll put Stan in it as well, but who I’d most like to see get a cameo is Simonson.

  2. Cool. I like creator cameos. One of the redeeming things about the Daredevil movie was that it had so many shout outs to the writers and artists, including cameos by Frank Miller and Kevin Smith.

  3. Where were Frank and Kevin in the DD movie? I remember they name-checked a bunch of creatives as boxers Battlin’ Jack had fought— but I don’t remember seeing any.

    1. Kevin Smith was the guy that took Foggy’s bribe to take a look at the Billy club in evidence.

      1. Yeah, Smith was “Jack Kirby, Forensic Assistant.” Frank was “Man with Pen in Head.”

  4. I think Miller was killed by Bullseye with a pen in his head & Smith was Jack Kirby, Forensic Assistant.

    1. Diana Rigg as the Black Widow was a logical choice. I would have seen this movie for her only. I’ll try and check if there are more trailers like this.

  5. I’m impressed. I’ve been hearing conflicting stories about bad blood between JMS and Marvel lately, but have been writing it off as the usual industry gossip. The big question is, after seeing the movie, how many people will comment “Peter? Why didn’t you tell us you had a cameo in Thor???”

    1. Wouldn’t it make more sense for PAD to have had a cameo in the Hulk movie, I mean JMS actually wrote Thor…

      1. After Claremont appeared in X-men 3, I was sure you’d appear in Hulk(I thought you might be ‘Mr. Blue’ for a bit).

Hmmm…you know Seth Green, and he know Joss Whedon…perhaps an Avengers Cameo?

      2. Well, I know Joss as well, but it’s just not something I’d do. You don’t try to get into contact with the director and say, “Hey, can I be in your movie?” If you happen to be on set visiting and they say, “Hey, you wanna be in this scene?” that’s a different matter. But there’s no reason for me to be visiting on the set.

      3. I’d love for you to provide a voice for a Hulk segment on Robot Chicken.
        .
Or, for one of the occasions when RC gets obscrue, provide the voice for John Tensen in a bit.

      4. No reason at all to visit? There’s always the “This-is-really-freaking-cool-and-I-wanted-to-have-a-peek”

*shrug* Yeah okay it’s imposing. Better than killing for the chance 😉

      5. You don’t understand! I’m saying impose! Impose like the wind! Less jail time involved.

      6. Well, I was actually making a reference (AKA “weak joke”)to a previous topic where people seem to be mistaking PAD for JMS in photographs. 🙂

  6. Neat. So, will JMS make a reference to BABYLON 5? Or maybe say something about “the quiet turning of your considered conscience”?

  7. I read in Muscle & Fitness that the wrestler, Paul Levesque (who was in Blade Trinity,) was offered a role in Thor. But, it didn’t say which role, or if he accepted.
    .
I don’t see him listed on IMDB.

    1. I remember reading about Triple H’s name being thrown around for Thor and Conan movies. I’m so glad they went another way.

  8. I read somewhere that JMS’s part would be just a little more than a cameo. Also that Walt Simonson, quite appropriately, would have a cameo role. I don’t know if any other former Thor writers will also appear.

  9. One way I’d love to see a PAD cameo in a Hulk movie would be if the Pantheon was ever used. The Pantheon ship locates Hulk (in either Hulk or Banner form) and shows up in NY. PAD is one of the amazed onlookers as the ship pulls up in front of Hulk/Banner.
    .
Doubt it will happen anytime soon but it’s something I*’d love to see.

    1. At Straczynski’s SDCC panel he said that when he did the cameo, that the director decided that he could act, so he had a couple of lines in the movie. Again, whether it ends up on the cutting room floor is unknown.

As for The Twelve, he has turned in scripts and the artist is working on it again. It sounds like once they have it all done, they will then solicit it and finish the run.
