What has been going on in Casa David

by Kathleen David

As some of you know Peter had surgery on Friday to relieve a rather serious back problem that was progressively getting worse. He got through it as well as expected all things considered. He is resting comfortably at home now working on getting better. His time on the internet is rather limited but he wanted to assure those who have been asking him questions, that he will get to them in a day or so.

The girls are fine. Caroline has a pretty good understanding of what is going on but I think it is still pretty scary for her. Ariel has been helping a lot with Caroline so I have been able to concentrate on Peter.

More news as we have it but right now we are taking it a day at a time.

  1. Thank you for letting us know about Peter’s surgery. I wish him the best for a speedy recovery.

  2. I had to have some minor surgery on my arm last month, to set a broken wrist that wasn’t amenable to closed reduction. I’m still dealing with the effects.

Right now, PAD, you have my sympathies, and my fervent wish that there was (were?) something I could do to help, beyond just buying your stuff and getting you more royalties. Be well!

  3. Get well soon! I’m sorry to hear about Peter’s back and I wish him the quickest of recoveries.

  4. To get rid of pains in the back, go to a doctor.

To get rid of pains in the neck, stay off the internet.

    More power to the man.

  5. Best wished for Peter — and to his family as well. (It’s never easy watching a loved on suffer.) Get well soon!

  6. Since he probably won’t have to time to read this while it is still relevant please pass along this advice I learned the hard way after surgery to correct my deviated septum. ‘Never attempt to read anything by Neil Gaiman while hopped up on codine.’

  7. A) I hope you heal quickly and completely
    B) I hope this experience generates a storyline that will not only be highly enjoyable for us, but will also make all your medical bills tax deductible 🙂
(Yeah, I know that the second half of “B” is much less likely than the first half)

    1. As a seasonal tax professional, I can say that Peter’s medical bills are already federally tax deductible after you take out 7.5% of his earnings for the year (hold on to your receipts). Please add my wishes for a speedy recovery and I look forward to reading a BID entry on health care and the awkwardness of wearing backless hospital gowns.

  8. I hope Mr PAD heals quickly and all the pain is soon but a memory. I’ve had far too much experience with hospitals myself and I know how boring it can be lying in bed all day, so make sure Peter has lots of great comics to read.

    1. >> so make sure Peter has lots of great comics to read.

…and a copy of Dragon’s Lair on the iPad.

  9. I hope Peter gets well soon.
    .
And, please tell him not to overdo it. When I was recovering from surgery a few years ago, my doctor told me not to lift more than 20 lbs. I found out the hard way just how literal that was.
    .
Fortunately, he has you, Ariel, and Caroline (and, I’m sure, others) to take care of him and stop him from doing anything that he thinks he is well enough to do but that his doctor told him not to.

  10. Argh, I hope everything is still okay, and your recovery is going smoothly, PAD.

Feel better soon! You have a lot of fans who care about you and your family!

    All the best to you!

  11. I know back problems are very tricky in nature to deal with, so best of luck to you, Peter and the girls.

  12. Did you try giving him some chicken soup yet? TRY THE CHICKEN SOUP REMEDY!!!

How long has he had a weak back…?

Best wishes on a speedy and complete recovery, PAD!

    I remain,
    Sincerely,
    Eric L. Sofer
