“Chuck” is not on NBC’s roster for next season.
I knew it. I freaking knew it.
I figure the CW will dump “Reaper” next and ABC will probably scrap “Better Off Ted.”

Gah! Say it ain’t so!
.
Stupid NBC. Guess I won’t bother finishing this letter to ’em about Chuck, then…
Newsarama notes that they have specifically chosen to wait on deciding on Chuck until May 19, for some reason.
I smell their wanting to see a campaign of some type to crop up and generate publicity.
http://blog.newsarama.com/2009/05/04/what-the-chuck-nbc-holds-off-on-decision/
Don’t worry, this doesn’t mean anything. Zachary Levy said a few days ago that there wouldn’t be an announcement today, but that didn’t mean anything. He’s been assured by people above him that it isn’t a bad sign, they’re just not announcing anything yet. Even given that, he’s still feels their odds are pretty good.
Yeah, well, I heard the exact same thing when ABC dumped “Pushing Daisies” and “Eli Stone,” so although I would welcome a last minute save, I’m not holding my breath.

From Reuters –
“NBC took the wraps off its new shows two weeks before the other major networks, though it will not announce its precise schedule — assigning time slots for its returning and new programs — until May 19.”
Don’t make me panic yet! We still have two weeks to be really nervous about it.
Last I heard things were still in limbo. The decsion over it and a few other shows will made on May 19.
http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2009/05/breaking-nbc-un.html
I heard they were waiting another few weeks to make a decision on Chuck.
It’s not dead yet! [/python]
NBC had to make lots of room for Jay Leno five nights a freakin’ week.
I really hope that the CW doesn’t dump Reaper. Then, they’d only have ONE good show (Supernatural). *sigh*
The shows I hope come back:
The Unusuals: Ya, I know after Pushing Daises, Eli Stone, and Life on Mars got dumped, this one is a long shot, but I’m really liking show alot. As much as Daises & Eli? Yes. Maybe more even and thats saying alot. The Unusuals is the funniest show on right now and one of the best drama’s too.
Medium: First I hear its coming back and then it doesn’t show up listed as coming back on NBC’s schedule. Stupid NBC. Stupid Jay Leno.
Fringe: I heard FOX renewed it, but I don’t think I’ll believe it until they announce it. lol.
Terminator: IMO, FOX would be STUPID to cancel this show (lol. I know…). IF the new Terminator movie does good, which it probably will, that might be bring some new interest in the Terminator tv show. Come on FOX!
Life: Ya, I know its a long shot, but Life is such a cool show. I hope it returns.
Reaper: Come on CW!
Dollhouse: Another long shot, but wow, last weeks episode was just so great! This show has some potential! The finale looks like its going to be excellent.

Unfortunately, I heard Life is gone. 🙁
Life.

Don’t talk to me about Life.

Results:
SAVE ONE SHOW: FINAL ROUND
Chuck: 25 percent
Dollhouse: 10 percent
Life: 8 percent
Privileged: 4 percent
Terminator: 53 percent
EOnline have been anti-Terminator and pro-Chuck for some time. When Terminator was leading the poll initially by a wide margin, they reset the values. Terminator still won with more than double the votes for Chuck, but the way they sorted the results, the casual reader would think Chuck won the poll.
It was known that it wasn’t going to be mentioned today.
They said it on Friday or Saturday.
The two thoughts are they’re waiting to build fan anxiety while negotiating down the licensing fees or they’re waiting so they can dump the show when the cameras’ pointed the other way.
More in the know folk are pointing to scenario 1. Fanboys are pointing to 2.
Nikki Finke’s Deadline Hollywood reports that “NBC has privately told agents” that Chuck has been renewed:
http://www.deadlinehollywooddaily.com/nbc-announces-20092010-primetime-sked/
I don’t know how much faith to put into that.
About Jay Leno, it says “And the network told journalists that its research shows that audiences will watch Jay Leno ‘2 to 3 times a week’ so NBC is preparing to make the show for a ‘unique audience’ every night.” Uhm, does anybody know what that means?
That makes me sad. Actually, all of those would make me sad. They might not be the “best” shows on TV, but certainly the most enjoyable, for my money.
As others have said, the announcement about Chuck will be made in 2 weeks. Was it only new shows that were announced officially today?
No, they announced some renewals, or at least made them official… like Heroes, and Parks & Excrementation
Hey, PAD, I didn’t know you were a Chuck fan! Cool. It is my favorite thing on TV right now. I am hoping against hope that it will be saved. PLEASE, let it be saved!
I like to think this article from TV Guide
http://www.tvguide.com/News/Exclusive-Chuck-News-1005731.aspx
provides some hope, but I wouldn’t hold your breath. This mess season after season of falling in love with a show only to have it canned really makes you not watch TV. I suppose eventually all of the fan favorite shows will end up being comic books, which just isn’t the same.
Dammit….and I’m still half a season behind due to various circumstances. Maybe I should dump the tapes and buy the remaining episodes on iTunes, to show a little support in the language that TV execs understand.
Chuck
Remember, with the 10 pm Leno show, NBC needs 5 hours less of primetime programming. They can drop shows without worrying about replacing them.
I won’t be surprised if its Heroes, Medium, Leno on Mondays.
I’m sorry REAPER is going — but I’m not all that sorry. It’s a cute show, BUT it seems to aim for the BTVS-style mix of teen life and supernatural adventure without hitting the mark. The actor playing Sam always looks like a deer in headlights, the plotting is far from consistent (remember in the middle of season 1 it was suggested Sam’s girlfriend was the daughter of the Devil — and at the end we lerned the Devil is Sam’s father? what happened there?), and Sock seems to be on a permanent caffeine buzz. Maybe it’ll find a second life on the Sci-Fi (sic).
For whatever it’s worth, this EW TV gossip columnist says Chuck’s renewal is a “safe bet.”

Here’s hoping. I need more Chuck.
No one’s even mentioned Dollhouse or the Sarah Connor Chronicles.
The Unusuals? …Castle?
Okay, Harper’s Island is lame.
I really wouldn’t count on anything from the SciFi Channel. Remember they’re “rebranding” to SyFy so they can run even more non-genre crap.
My assessments:
.
Dollhouse: The FOX executives genuinely like the show, but anyone can see that the ratings are not only bad, they get worse almost every week. There’s hope, but not much.
.
Sarah Connor Chronicles: Pretty much the same situation as Dollhouse, but slightly less hope.
.
Unusuals: Don’t know, don’t care.
.
Castle: In pretty decent shape for returning, but no guarantee.
Actually…I did mention Dollhouse, Sarah Connor, and the Unusuals earlier. I like all three show sand I hope all three come back (especially the Unusuals and Terminator though).
Never watched Harper’s Island. Thought about it, but then…they started to show more previews and I saw how much of soap it was going to be. lol.
Never got into Castle either. I like Nathan Fillion though, so I’m hoping for the best for it. He deserves to have one of his shows last…
Maybe if it comes back I’ll check it out.
And ya, I’m with you on SyFy. lol. The only upcoming projects I’m looking forward to with them is Eureka, Stargate Universe, and Caprica. Maybe the new Warehouse show, but not sure yet. There are a few things, but overall, SyFy (ugh) is pretty bad…
I’m really crossing my fingers the most for the Unusuals (such a great show) and Terminator (really good show). Though, Dollhouse is getting better.

For what it’s worth, according to Yahoo’s TV blog ‘Chuck’ has a “fair” shot at returning while ‘Better off Ted’ and ‘Castle’ have a “good” shot. One of my favorite shows, ‘Life’ has officially been canceled, though. This pìššëš me off, but it’s not like a couple of years ago when they were cancelling shows after only 3 or 4 episodes like ‘Drive’ and that show with Ray Liotta. In their defense (slightly) I guess they figure if a show like ‘Life’ and ‘Chuck’ don’t pick up a large enough audience in 2 years then it probably won’t.
Nikki Finke says that Chuck is likely to be picked up, but hinges on Warners not charging for them dropping that David Kelly show: http://www.deadlinehollywooddaily.com/nbc-announces-20092010-primetime-sked/
Chuck’s not canceled. Anything but. They’re haggling over the number of episodes. Ausiello says the final word will come on May 19th.
OTOH, Reaper’s still in massive danger, but it’s Tell the not officially canceled yet – although there’s precious little time left until May upfronts. Remember, last year Reaper was declared dead too, but came back at the last minute to get a renewal. Anyone who wants to help: Snail and email addresses, petitions, etc., are organized here: http://community.livejournal.com/reaperdmv/37449.html
So NBC not outstating Chuck is returning yet is the new Swine Flu?
Panic in the streets!

At present, Chuck stays, Reaper goes.
I really like Chuck. It’s a fun show. I hope it stays on.
Reapers pretty much dead cause of the exec producers getting an exclusive deal with fox sadly, it’s easily one of the most fun tv shows on the air right now so it’s a total shame it won’t be back.
As for chuck, I gave up 5 eps into season 2 because I HATE half the show, I like the spy adventures of Chuck but I find any buy-more b-plot painful to watch, can someone tell me if they got any better?
Also I’m praying Dollhouse gets renewed, ever since ep 6 it’s shown it can be a great show.
Just do what I do with Chuck. Record the show and fast forward over the Buy More hijinks. Except don’t fast forward when you see Jeff and Lester in the season finale, they actually work fine in that episode.
Or watch it on Hulu and use the progress bar to skip Buy More stuff. They’ve got the last 10 episodes, starting with one I loved, Chuck vs. the Suburbs. That won’t completely catch you up with everything you missed, but it’s most of it and contains everything that lead up to the season finale.
My guess is that CHUCK will be renewed as a midseason replacement. I would not be surprised to see NBC do that to L&W also as it would make sense to have some shows in reserve in case Leno tanks.
That’s good news about Chuck, not bad. I’ve heard that it’s more about how many episodes they get next season, not whether they get a next season. I don’t know how much longer they can stretch the premise and keep things ticking the way they are, but I’m in for as long as they can manage it.
I never could get into Reaper. It seemed like too many other things, and used the FotW formula for too long before deciding on following the larger plot. The only thing that would get me to watch would be having the Winchester boys from Supernatural guest star, thinking Reaper Sam was a demon and trying to hunt him.
I’m hoping that everyone who’s been saying that ‘Chuck’ will be back (just depending on when and how many eps)is right. As of right now, that show is the only show that is keeping me watching that network. Having Jay Leno on 5 nights a weeks looks good on paper – just have to pay the talent (if you call it that) and now where near the production costs of a regular show. BUT just like all the reality shows that are killing creativeness on television, I don’t understand the appeal. Having Jay’s show, The Tonight Show, then another and maybe another seems like major overkill. I don’t understand what the appeal is – save the financial angle from the Network. I suppose my tastes are just changing. Like Marvel and DC – I used to be “Make Mine Marvel” for years and now I’m getting all DC titles except for PAD’s X-Factor which is the best thing Marvel has going for it. That takes me back to Chuck and NBC. /end rant.
of all the shows mentioned.Reaper and the Sara Connor chronicles are the two I really want to return.
Ray wise as the devilis one the best casting jobs ever.He plays therole as funny, charming ,homicidal and coldblooded …just the way he should.
Sara Connor need to be renewed.I love that show!!!
Dollhouse I have tried and let me say as much as I love Eliza Dushku and Tamoh Penniket the show never grabbed me.
The only 2 I really want to see come back are Chuck and Dollhouse. Dollhouse has just gotten stronger and stronger each week.
The weird thing about Dollhouse is that it’s at it’s best when the premise of the show is in the background. When they want to tell a story about Topher, having him program Sierra and interact with her is a good way of showing what he’s going through. When they want to tell a story about the Boss Lady, showing the kind of person that she programs Victor to be is very illuminating.
However, the show doesn’t work so well when a doll is the main character. Watching Echo solve a murder mystery isn’t as much fun because it’s not about Echo, it’s about the dead woman who she was programmed to be. I liked that episode, but it wasn’t as satisfying as the ones before and after it. Since the person Echo is programmed to be is going to go away at the end of the episode, it’s less interesting. I don’t expect Columbo or Sherlock Holmes to grow and change with every mystery they solve, but at least they’ll remember it. The little flashes of memory that Echo exhibits aren’t really the same.
If the show comes back for a second season, I hope that Eliza’s character gets a more permanent personality and the usage of the dolls becomes more of a background thing. The dolls are great supporting characters, but less compelling protagonists.
Maybe I have caught the wrong episodes or its not my cup of tea at all.The episodes that I have scene I really dont like any of these people.More to the point I havent seen the fleshing out of the charcters in the few episodes I have watched. More to the point knowing how good Amy Acker,Tamoh Pennikett and Eliza can be I have been disappointed.Last week I found Alpha’s performance as the ngineer just annoying.
You may have a point in that these charcters are not very good protagonists
Jeez I am a spelling moron today…
Chuck has been renewed.
http://www.thrfeed.com/2009/05/nbc-renews-chuck.html
So has “Dollhouse” – but lower budgets and eight minutes less of show per episode. If you’ll just look up and to the right…
Just thought you’d like to hear, Chuck has been renewed!! BUT there are some catchs. Check it out here:
