Tired of pushing so-called memoirs that turn out to be fantasies?
May I recommend my book, “Tigerheart,” coming out in June. It doesn’t purport to be anything else but a fantasy, and it’s uplifting to young and old alike. Check out the comments on www.tigerheartbook.com and then have your people contact the publishers.

With Oprah’s luck, someone would discover that Tigerheart is really a memoir, “Peter Pad”…
I am intrigued by your ideas and wish to subscribe to your newsletter.
(Mr. Gertler beat me to my first comment, and said it with more flair than I would have…)
Heh, with PAD’s luck, someone will be out at the same time with a certain golfer’s biography called “Tiger’s Heart” and THAT will be what Oprah pushes. 😉
I missed this book. Peter, I sure wish you had a listing of all your books, past present and future so us fans can be sure and get them all!
You haven’t missed anything, David. Pub date is June. But, of course, if Oprah wants an advance galley, that’s a done deal.

It’s fan compiled and maintained, but it was last updated in Feb 2008.
There’s also a pretty comprehensive Bibliography section on Peter’s Wikipedia article (And no, I did not work on that section).

Two questions: Has Oprah’s Book Gulag ever endorsed a fictional book that didn’t reflect upon some political or social reality she wants to push? For instance, The Color Purple which is about prejudice against blacks?
Second, has Oprah ever had any authors on her show to talk about the book when she announces it? ‘Cause I get the feeling she wouldn’t know how to handle an author like Mr. D, who not only talks without stuttering, but makes people laugh and cheer.
And yes, both TV stations for which I work run Oprah, and me not knowing the answers to these questions makes me a treasonous scum.
1) Dunno. One of the things that might make “Tigerheart” attractive to her is that, albeit in a fantasy manner, it depicts a family dealing with the unexpected and tragic loss of a child. A number of adult women who have had to cope with that very situation have said they were deeply moved by it. Since her constituency is mostly female, that may put it in her wheelhouse.
2) She always has the authors on her show, although I do not know the timing. But considering some of the personalities she has had on her program, I doubt she would have much trouble with me.
