Bestseller David sets this clever, fast-paced fantasy on the Ðámņëd World (formerly Earth), home to a handful of enslaved humans, a greatly feared Overseer and the exiled inhabitants of the Twelve Races. Having nearly destroyed humanity, a variety of strange creatures now battle each other. Jepp, a freed human slave, joins a mixed-race band of scavengers. The king of the Cyclops orders Jepp’s group to steal the Orb of Light from the trolls, believing its magic will destroy the bloodsucking vampires who have stolen his niece. Meanwhile, the Overseer investigates why hotstars, the energy source for most of the tech on the Ðámņëd World, are fading out. As Jepp discovers her own hidden powers, the Overseer realizes that the Twelve Races must understand humanity’s place in their universe or risk annihilation. David ( Knight Life) is a master at juggling multiple characters and plot lines-and, in what one hopes is the first in a new series, breathes new life into some well-worn mythic tropes. (June)

  3. reviews reshmooo’s, Not to blow sunshine up your rapidly dimishing tuccuss, but I will never trust a reviewers statements about one of your books… For I will make a proficy that at the end of your career the worst book you publish wil still be better than 90% of the other books out there… So even if a reviewer says it is total crap I will still be at the bookstore hastling the stockboy to hurry up on release day

  7. I just want to know whom we have to mass email to get another Sir Apropos novel. (Yeah, I know that there is a short story in a collection; but if the novels sell well then there should be more of them. “Wisdom of the marketplace” Yeah, right.)

  11. Yay, a new series! Hopefully, the publisher won’t yank the carpet out from underneath you the way other publishers have with your original works, and maybe, just maybe, you’ll get a movie deal out of this one!

  13. Am I the only one, reading the review, who feels like they just walked into the middle of a fairly long and complex story?

    When does it come out? My current read is a book I got for $1 at B&N’s post Christmas fire sale…meaning I don’t mind reading it, but I’d never have paid real money for it, and I’m desperately looking for something new while my other series’ authors all conspire against me to not have any new (to me) material for me to buy. Honestly, how can 10ish writers ALL not have something I’ve not read and want to read on the stands?

    Okay, I see. This is the real story behind the original Battlestar Galactica. And everybody thought Dirk Benedict was so cute.

    Star Wars was like that, it seemed to work out fine for them.

    Post Apocalyptic Future Earth with Vampires? I am so f-in there. Any usage of robots would rule as well.

    I’m serious, by the way. The subject line says “Peter David Bulletin.”

    But it’s okay. I like getting “Peter David Bulletins.”
