Wow…oh wow…you really have a detailed opinion of Jamie as a character, seriously. We don’t know Jamie well enough to say something like that.

Interesting that you think even though his dupes have shown themselves to be murderous, and you can imagine one of them having sex with Layla, you don’t see the possibility that one of them would have sex with Rahne. I’m not championing the match or defending Rahne as a sexual character, I’m just confused about that perspective. Whatever their history, Jamie knows that Rahne is not a blood relative. And sexuality is a strange and surprising thing– didn’t one of Jamie’s dupes act kinda flaming, once? I don’t think we know Jamie well enough to conclude anything like this. He doesn’t know himself well enough. But I can imagine him *assuming* that he does, at least well enough not to ask Rahne and knowing that if anything had happened, she’d definitely bring it up.

I am assuming of course that while Jamie-Prime is indeed dead that his core personality is still intact in some shape or form in the remaining dupes. Of course the only credence I can find for this is a Howard Mackie story. (Worst X-Factor run ever!) Though I think Dezago touched on it as well.

Misters David and Dematies made it clear that Jamie thought of Rahne as a kid sister. David, Dematies (and very snidely Dephillips) that it wasn’t actual mutual. Dephillips saying Rahne was indeed comfortable with the way things were. She gave some cop out answer like “Oh– may a dupe or two feels that way– but then again I think a dupe or two feels that way about everybody.”

Yes, I understand sexuality is a very weird thing. I’ve been on both sides of friendships like that. I even dated one of them off and on for awhile.

I don’t think there really is a singular Jamie to know. I think Peter retconned his own retcon and returned the dupes to being individuals who just sometimes go back into Jamie rather than dupes that are telepathically connected basically think alike and only occasionally go off on their own.

  3. Since this is the only comics-dedicated thread, I wanted to go a bit off topic here to address Civil War in general:

I’m catching up on August’s releases, having just read CW #4 and Front Line #5.

And, man, the parallels to a lot of the stuff going on today are as obvious as the sun in the sky.

So far, I’m enjoying the overall story as well as all the tie-ins. A lot has been made of the characterizations of the heroes (and villains) involved, and while I generally agree with those concerns, this is the type of event that probably would cause people to act in ways unexpected.

Of course, that still leaves me utterly pìššëd øff that Reed Richards of all people would support this act in the manner that they’ve gone about it. Iron Man I can understand, because he’s got an ego the size of Ego.

But… sheesh… cloning Thor and possibly others for a controllable super hero army? Ok, this is where I finally get to the point where I wonder if the writers have gone too far over the edge with how far they’re pushing this.

At least they had the sense (so far) not to clone Genis. Or Fin Fang Foom. Or Hulk. Though I think Ross would kick them in the head if they tried that one.
