Since it’s been announced at the Philadelphia, I’ll tell you guys that I’m going to be doing a 1602 limited series. It’s going to be focusing on “The Fantastick Four,” and will feature von Doom, the Four Who Are Frightful, a kidnapping plot with Shakespeare as the target, and an epic adventure to the ends of the earth–literally.
There will be more details on newsarama.com in the next couple of days.
PAD

So much for using all my “Civil War” money to buy gas…
Darn you PAD, darn you to heck.
That’s really cool, PAD. I can’t wait.

Cool! Although I was hoping that I’d hear that PAD would be the writer for a new Thor ongoing series. Perhaps it’s not completely out of the question.
Wow. Thought this was another mini that I’d be able to walk away from without a glance. Though I enjoyed Neil Gaiman’s original series well enough to read it through to its conclusion, the follow-up was painful to read and there seemed no real pay-off. The small amount of info that you’ve provided here has me very interested in seeing how you work with these characters and the ideas that you are playing with.
Fred
Curse you,PAD! ANOTHER budgetary priority to fit in! Keep it up!
Cool. I’d already seen the Newsarama blurb, but it was so short it didn’t list any of the creative team.
Hmmm. Add me to the people who will be ordering this because Peter is writing the title. Still I rather have Peter on a monthly title for Marvel so that with FALLEN ANGEL, we get a new book by Peter every week.
Since I’ve heard so little about it after the original announcement, might this series be replacing the Wonder Man mini-series, or is that project still active as well?
Congrats, sir. Has Unky Neil given his blessing?
ARGGH, I didn’t like the original 1602, and now I’ll be buying a limited series spinoff…..dámņ my comics and PAD addiction.
…(eye twitches)
You know, when I cut my comics reading back to JUST F4 titles, I thought I’d be saving money. Then Marvel launched Civil War, a slew of oneshots, the short-lived (sadly) Thing, and now this.
Good lord, how the heck am I supposed to afford all this?!
1I’m there. Are you going to have the same artist who worked on the first series?
Oh my God, my husband is going to FLIP THE HÊLL RIGHT OUT. 🙂
Very cool, I’ll look forward to it…and if I could hijack this thread to ask a question, how are they reprinting your X-Factor stuff for the ‘Visionaries’ line? The first trade was 71-75, but towards the end, the title was hijacked for at least one crossover, and IIRC, you didn’t actually write the last issue of your final storyline on the title (issue #91). So will they skip the X-Cutioner’s Song stuff, and what’ll happen with the last storyline? And will they include the Annual? (They gotta…best punchline to a running gag ever. “WHO?”)
Please tell me that the Wizard who will be on the Four Who Are Frightful is actually going to be Propsero!
Actually, ‘The X-Cutioner’s Song’ was the only significant x-over that interfered with PAD’s run. You could collect it in 4 TPB’s quite nicely thus:
1/ X-FACTOR #71-75
2/ HULK#390-392 & X-FACTOR #76-78
3/ X-FACTOR #79-83
4/ X-FACTOR #87-89 & X-FACTOR ANNUAL# 8
X-FACTOR #84-86 are part of ‘The X-Cutioner’s Song’ and already collected as part of a TPB of that x-over, I believe.
$%!%$ PAD, when the !f#@! do you sleep!
Who needs to lose sleep when you can type at 120 words per minute? 🙂
I am a huge DC comics fan and an aspiring comic writer. I’m currently enrolled in NYU’s SCPS McGhee Division in their Creative Writing program.
Can you recommend any *good* sites on how to break into comic book writing and any sites that offer writing aids etc? I am looking to do some independent publishing and eventually work for DC as well.

Peter, just curious – for a limited series like this, do you pitch them an idea, or do they announce that they’re doing another 1602 series and ask for suggestions, or how does it work?
GREAT idea for a story
i will buy this
What ho! Methinks you are a fellow of infinite jest.
