The drive back was a crisp 16 hours including one hour sleep break and an hour for breakfast. The important thing for these types of trips is to stop every two hours or so because you don’t want to be seated unmoving for much longer than that. Good way to develop blood clots in your leg that can break loose and, y’know, kill you. Which would be bad.
Been having extended discussions with Axel Alonso over the upcoming events at Marvel, which sound pretty exciting. Also, I’ll begin work shortly on the Wonder Man limited series. But first I have to write the rest of the script for “Fallen Angel #4.” Meanwhile I’m waiting to see what’s going to be happening with “Soulsearchers.”
Expect a fairly major announcement soon about something else.
Rough night of bowling last night. How rough? My first game I, with a 182 average, shot a 127. That’s not the horrific part. The horrific part is that it wasn’t the lowest score of the game. The low score was 125, shot by the opposing team’s anchor (i.e., best player) who carries a 197 average. Tough oil pattern. Kicked my next two games to 154 and finally a 188, but still, crappy night.

Not to mention the “Retailer Incentive Cover” for Fallen Angel #1. How much should the stores be charging for it? A couple of local stores in Phoenix had sold all or almost all of #1.
Peter, I love your work. But I have to tell you, when you give announcements like, “Expect a fairly major announcement soon about something else,” it’s bordering on cruel. I’ve never been good with suspense.
By the way, I did forward the Claypool e-mail to New England Comics, who I buy most of my comics from. In their December order form, they included a piece of art from the Elvira series, so it could be that they had already heard about Claypool’s situation and are trying to increase awareness. Also, Fallen Angel #1 was one of their Top Picks for the month.
I’m eagerly awaiting the new Wonder Man series, along with, y’know, everything else you write.
Very good advice about the driving (blood clots are something I have to watch for more now that the a-fib episode has happened). I’m surprised you and Kath don’t trade off more. I can hardly wait until Robin learns how to drive!

You’re all freaking me out now. Is there anything especially dangerous obout sitting that induces bloodclots? Am I safer loafing on a counch? I don’t want to drop dead while at the computer because then my wife will say “See?” and I’ll never hear the end of it.

Still digging the new X-Factor, and the new Fallen Angel was fantastic. I’m extremely happy that IDW stepped in to publish it. And Woodward’s art is simply gorgeous.

However, the comic book ordering guy at the store where I shop said, “Yeah, I’ve read Peter David’s blog, and he seems to be making a lot of noise about it, but there’s only two or three people picking it up here.” Meanwhile, he was hyping a plastic-packed comic signed by some minor artist as a good investment. (Yeah, as good as Enron stock.)
This is the same guy I practically had to torture to get him to stock Paul Dini’s new Jingle Belle comic – before Christmas.

It’s not sitting per se. It’s that any prolonged period of motionlessness, especially in a cramped space (as, say, car or airline seats) for a long period of time can increase the risk of Deep Vein Thrombosis, a blood clot usually developing deep in the calf or thigh. This can be painful, and also life-threatening should one of those clots break free and travel to the lungs or heart or elsewhere in the body.
All in all, this is why travellers are often told to get up and walk around during long plane trips or at least do some basic in-the-chair exercises to keep blood flow going.

Yep. My dad suffered from deep vein thrombosis in his leg during the past year.
He had some pretty severe swelling and bruising due to the poor circulation he has in his legs (from both physical deformities as well as the constant standing around for his manufacturing job).
It is a health risk that should be taken very seriously, although some are more at risk than others.
Really looking forward to the new Wonder Man series. Other than Roger Stern, you’re the only other writer that I’d like on Wonder Man. Hope you have fun writing it. Have a Happy New Year, PAD.

No kidding. I’ve always thought he was such a rotten character, I’m amazed he’s getting his own series. Of course, PAD is the guy who made Madrox interesting, so until proven otherwise I’m inclined to think he can write anything.
This is likely the last time I’ll be online in 2005, so I wanted to take the opportunity to thank PAD for giving us this forum. This is the only blog I bother reading, and as much as I enjoy sparring with many of you (including PAD himself during the annual Shenck v. United States debate), it’s worth remembering how good we have it here.

I don’t remember a ton about him – I missed his solo series entirely, and probably read more issues involving his alternate future self in Guardians of the Galaxy than the latter end of the Avengers West Coast run. 🙂
