I’m working with the CBLDF (no big shock there) and IDW to produce some nifty “Fallen Angel” premiums that will debut at the Wizard World Texas convention.
First up is an exclusive CBLDF preview edition of Fallen Angel #1. This preview runs the entire first issue weeks before it hits the stands and is strictly limited to 100 signed and numbered copies. In addition to the preview comic, IDW has created a special Fallen Angel signature print and a limited edition run of the original script to Fallen Angel #1.
If you’re going to be out there and want to snag yourself a copy, I hope to see you there.
If any copies are left over after the convention, I’ll be sure to let you folks know in case anyone’s interested in mail order.

D@mn, d@mn! I didn’t realize that was coming up this weekend, and we’re booked. Well, welcome to D/FW, Peter. I don’t know how much you like steak, but that’s a good bit of our meals here (grin), so I’ll recommend a good place in the Arlington area: Trail Dust Steak House is one of my favorites. It’s not a fancy place – in fact just the opposite. The main reason I like it is that they don’t season the meat heavily like many restaurants do – it’s just good, tender cuts. As long as you don’t mind the country music, it’s can be a fun place.

My local comic shop doesn’t have much of a backlog. If there’s no chance of a second trade anytime soon, I’ll try ordering from Mile High Comics.

If there is a clamoring on the board from us FA fans, do you think they’d print more prints and scripts? Maybe offer them like the original FA bookplates?
Having been a rabid fan of Lee since the beginning, I’d hate to miss out on that stuff for purely geographic reasons. And I want to support the comic in any way possible.

Yep, I’ll add my name to chorus and ask for consideration should any there be any leftover copies. I’d love to go to WizardWorld Texas, but unfortunately won’t be able to make it.
In a way, I really hope there are leftovers so I can snag one. At the same time, though, I also hope there aren’t any leftovers, because it would mean that interest in Fallen Angel at IDW is high and hopefully that would translate into sales. Thus, I’m torn, because more than anything else, I want the book to succeed. PAD is kicking nine kinds of ášš on this book, and I really hope people give it an honest chance.
First time at a convention but hopefully I find time to say hello and tell you I enjoy your work. That or wave from afar, drawing raised eyebrows and security concerns.

I’m shocked to be saying this, since I have attempted to get into this series a few times during its previous incarnation, but I’ve preordered the 1st issue of the new series. The # 1 reason for this is Peter’s commitment to the title and his steadfast belief that it truly is his best work ever. I’m in for another attempt and may find myself getting more attached to Fallen Angel’s adult persona moreso than her younger days.

I am also interested, my girlfriend has the comics but I got burned by waiting for the trades and only getting the one. I’ve read her copies (despite being chronically behind in cool stuff she has that I want to read) and would buy my own nicely bound copies with smug glee, if I could get them. When I like a comic a lot I like to read it more then once and have my own copy in case I want to read it again.
Unfortunately, Mile High Comics won’t work out for getting back copies. They only have the “near mint” versions that they sell for $5 or more.
I really wish that *everything* got collected into trade paperbacks. If I can get Sledge Hammer Season 2 on DVD, I should be able to get Fallen Angel TBP 2.

Uh-oh, that’s gonna drive PAD nuts – not that it’s exactly the first time he’s heard it ….
Well, Jason, the new issue #1 is supposed to be an accessible jumping-on point for new readers; and maybe you’ll enjoy it so much that you’ll feel like – gradually, if necessary – scooping up the issues at the more-than-cover-price-but-not-hugely-expensive Mile High prices (barring, of course, a breakthrough in getting another TPB printed).
Oops, you’re right. I’ve seen PAD talk about this before. I should have known better.
I should explain my whining a little better. In my particular case, I wasn’t looking at comics during the time that it was out. I took a break from comics, other than the TPBs that I borrowed from a friend at work. It wasn’t marketting or anything comic shop related that kept me from finding it, just my bad timing.
To me, $80 for a dozen comics is hugely expensive. I’ll definitely try to get áhøld of the new series, though.
I heard the story in Fallen Angel #1 crosses over to six other IDW titles by other writers.

And, for those interested but unable to attend, a completely unscientific status report of the Fallen Angel CBLDF premiums as of about 20 minutes into Saturday’s show:
–the preview edition that I got was numbered 6 of 70
–the print was numbered 95 of 100
–the script was numbered 45 of 50
Assuming that they were stacked numerically, it appears that, oddly enough, the preview ashcan edition will be in highest supply.
Oh, and Peter…? Read the preview (and the script). Can’t wait to be reading this book regularly again. Thanks to IDW for picking it up.

You haven’t mentioned anything about this being a limited, so I’m hoping this is just a glitch on Diamond’s part. Figured you’d want to know about it, though.

I had a very limited time at the Con on Saturday, and somehow never got to see PAD. But I picked up the Fallen Angel stuff at the CBLDF table. The art if phenomenal! I’m really looking forward to reading more Fallen Angel, as well as some non-crossover FNSM.

IDW tends to publish things in limited series form. We were hedging our bets on the book being an ongoing until we see (a) sales and (b) how J.K. is on a monthly schedule. It’s better to have, say, two limited series of five monthly issues each in a year than slate it for twelve and wind up with the book falling behind and shipping late.
However, J.K. is keeping up nicely and sales are VERY encouraging. So that could all change.
